Story
Meet Lloyd, the sweet and shy 1-year-old Cane Corso Golden Retriever mix who is looking for his forever family. Lloyd may be a little timid at first, but with patience and love, he’s sure to blossom into an incredibly loyal and affectionate companion. Though he`s a bit on the skinny side and currently on a weight gain journey, Lloyd is making strides every day toward becoming the healthy, happy pup he deserves to be.Lloyd is a gentle soul who needs a calm and understanding home where he can feel safe and secure. His shy nature means he takes his time to trust new people, but once he bonds with you, you’ll have a best friend for life. He’s also a bit of a foodie and has shown some resource guarding tendencies, especially around treats, so he’ll need an experienced owner who can work with him to manage this behavior.Lloyd has lived with dogs before, but due to his nervousness, a meet and greet with any potential dog siblings in the home is required. He’s most comfortable with a slow introduction to new canine friends and would do best with a dog who is patient and can respect his boundaries.Though Lloyd hasn’t had the chance to meet cats in a controlled environment yet, he’s a sensitive guy and would need a slow and careful introduction to any cats in the household. A slow introduction means gradually introducing them at a distance, allowing them to observe each other in a calm, controlled setting, and only moving forward with more interactions once both Lloyd and the cat feel comfortable and safe.Training & Behavior Needs:Shyness & Socialization: Lloyd is naturally timid and may take some time to warm up to new people and situations. His new family will need to be patient and gentle, giving him the space he needs to build trust.Resource Guarding: Lloyd does show some resource guarding tendencies, especially with treats. He will need an experienced owner who can work on managing this behavior with positive reinforcement and clear boundaries.Dog Interaction: Lloyd has lived with dogs before, but a meet and greet with any potential dog siblings is required. He will do best with a calm dog who will give him space and respect his boundaries.Cat Compatibility: Lloyd has not been cat tested, but if there is a cat in the home, a slow and careful introduction will be needed. This process involves keeping them at a safe distance initially and gradually increasing their exposure to each other while monitoring their c
