Story
Meet Henri! Henri is a big teddy bear who loves to cuddle.  He really enjoys getting attention from his people, snuggling up on the couch or just lounging in a doggy bed.  He also really enjoys going for walks in the neighborhood and exploring all the smells in the backyard.  He gets along well with other friendly dogs and seems to follow another confident dog, so not the dominant type.  As he is coming out of his shell he is showing an interest in playing with toys and other friendly dogs.   Henri is house trained, not a single accident in his foster home.  He is given regular potty breaks and takes care of business on his walks.  He is not a fan of being crated but does sleep quietly in a metal crate at night.  He whined when we first tried a plastic crate with less visibility.  He's a little nervous, whiny  about riding in the car, but settles down after several minutes.  He hasn't been tested with cats, but definitely notices and shows interest in squirrels and birds when out on walks, so may have potential for chasing smaller animals.   He has not been tested with kids yet, but so far has been friendly to everyone he meets after appropriate introductions.  Henri prefers to be with his people rather than left home alone.  He will vocalize his excitement after his people return home.  He is mostly quiet and chill at home but will join the other dogs if they start barking.  He is also good about redirection.  He is really good with the 'Sit' command and is learning "off" and "down".  We have been working on keeping four paws on the floor to get attention as he tends to jump or put his paws on people to express his desire for attention.  He enjoys getting treats so this is good motivation for further training.  He is such a love chop and will fit in well in a home where there is someone home more often than not and would likely enjoy the company of another friendly canine companion.  Henri will also need regular grooming as he has the poodle type of fur that needs to be trimmed. Henri is vaccinated, neutered and chipped. His adoption fee is $450   We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! To expedite to meet with this dog, please go to our site at www.savinggreatanimals.org and fill out an application. We look at the first applications to arrive, so we hope to hear from you soon! Story
Hot Pocket is a one year old miniature Poodle. He is a very sweet, gentle boy who is still learning how the world works. He’s on the timid side at first, but once he feels safe, his personality really begins to shine. He responds beautifully to calm energy, baby talk, and belly rubs. When approached slowly and gently, he’ll come over and roll onto his back to show his belly. He can get nervous if someone walks toward him too quickly, so patience and positive reassurance go a long way with him. He absolutely loves spending time in a fenced yard. He enjoys exploring, relaxing outside, and taking everything in. Loud or sudden noises may cause him to bark, as he’s still building confidence. Hot Pocket prefers being close to his people. If he’s crated and can’t see you, he may bark for a bit before settling. He does best with gentle guidance and consistency. He’s still learning leash walking and basic “how to be a dog” skills. The good news is he does wonderfully with other dogs and cats! Having another confident dog around has helped him learn how to play, interact, and even explore toys. A home with another friendly pup or plenty of attention would likely help him continue to blossom. HotPocket will thrive in a patient, loving home that understands he’s still gaining confidence. With kindness and time, he’s going to be an incredibly loyal and affectionate companion. Hot Pocket sleeps through the night and does best when he’s close to his people. He likes to sleep in the bed with his humans and settles in well once everyone is winding down. He prefers having that closeness at night and relaxes most easily when he knows you’re nearby. Hot Pocket is still learning his potty routine. He does very well going #2 outside and is making steady progress overall. Having regular access to a fenced yard has really helped him understand where he should go. He currently wears a belly band indoors since he isn’t neutered yet. He will escape a playpen if he can and does not really like to be contained. He does not like the crate that much either and will bark very loud and start scratching the crate for a bit until he settles. He does well alone at home and doesn’t panic or exhibit signs of separation anxiety, just does not care for confinement. He likes his freedom indoor and outdoor. He also loves being in the yard and can either be there by himself or with pup friends. He doesn’t really bark out there unless he hears a loud sound. Loves playing outside with other pup friends or with toys. If he is bored, he will sometimes nap and sun bathe out in the backyard. He is still learning what treats are and isn’t super food motivated so far. He loves the kibble that the rescue provides! He doesn’t mind the car, and is ood with cats. He is a doll!! -----

A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters:
Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means:

✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment.

✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing).

✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed.

The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like.

Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are.

Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type.
