Due to the number of applications being received for each dog, we are only able to contact the applicants who have met ALL the listed Requirements*** Kai is bonded with Miso and they must be adopted together. Name/Tag: Kai 4231 Age: 9 months Sex/Altered: Female/ Yes Weight: 9 lbs Breed: Havanese Foster Home Location: OTTAWA, ON Adoption Fee: $800.00 Temperament: Timid, curious, sweet, smart Activity/Energy Level: Moderate Up to date on Shots: Yes Housebroken: Progressing Crate Trained: No Ok with Dogs: Yes Ok with Cats: Yes Ok with Kids: Yes Origin: Mass Breeding Facility Requirements: Someone home at least part time, no kids under 8 years, experienced dog owner   And now, a few words from me:           I might be tiny, but i have a big personality. When I first arrived in my foster home I was scared of everything, but I’ve started to become very brave! I love to explore new spaces and I recently discovered cuddling with my foster mom and dad… it's my new favourite thing to do. Who knew humans were so comfy? I still take a long time to warm up to new people, and I like to have my sister Miso with me, but my foster mom says I’m bossy! I love playing fetch, rough housing with my sister Miso and my foster sister (who is a much bigger dog, but she doesn’t scare me!) and finding new things to chew (I’m still figuring out which ones are allowed).    And now, a few words from my foster mom: Kai comes across as an extremely anxious little thing, but she’s actually got a huge personality. She fights back when her sister tries to boss her around, and she LOVES chasing the family cat around the house. Kai is very cautious with humans, but her tendency is to run away from any motion to touch her… however.. if you are able to get close she adores being pet and snuggled, and will push herself between you and her sister Miso. Kai is progressing well with house training, and happily goes outside and does her business, but if she’s distracted by other things she sometimes forgets why she is out and remembers once she’s in the house. We are noticing daily improvements with this, but it will require someone able to work with her consistently. Both dogs currently sleep in a gated area of the house, and wake up vocalising for some human attention. Kai follows me around the house, but likes to stay a couple of feet away most of the time. She is very bonded with Miso, and is very protective if we pick Miso up or if they are separated. Watching the two of them chase one another and wrestle is pure entertainment. Kai might be the runt, but she’s definitely not going to let her sister be the boss! Questions? I love to play and explore for little chunks of time, and then I love to snuggle right up to my foster parents and sister. Fetch is my favourite game. My foster parents laugh at the bunny hops I do while I’m racing to get the toy. Snow was new to me, but now its pretty much my favourite thing ever; there’s nothing better than taking a leap off the deck into the snow.  New humans take me a minute to warm up to, but pets, treats and games make me feel safe pretty quickly.   And now, a few words from my foster mom: Miso is a little ball of joy. She loves to play. She loves to snuggle. She’s pure puppy and gets into EVERYTHING if left to her own devices, but she learns quickly and is starting to understand the word NO… as hard as it is to say no to that face! Miso and Kai are a bonded pair, they are very protective of one another. Miso is the explorer of the two, and is constantly engaging her sister in new things. its very sweet to watch. Miso’s house training is progressing. She LOVES going outside and understands she’s supposed to go when she is out there, but she uses pee pads frequently as well. We are noticing daily improvements with this, but it will require someone able to work with her consistently. Both dogs currently sleep in a gated area of the house and wake up vocalising for some human attention. Miso gets VERY excited to see her favourite humans, and her combination wiggle-butt-bunny-hop is hilarious. She adores playing and tires herself out easily. When she’s in a snuggle zone, she’ll prop her head on your shoulder like a little baby… she’s hard to put down! Questions? Due to the number of applications being received for each dog, we are only able to contact the applicants who have met ALL the listed Requirements*** Name/Tag#: Jazz/4222 Age: 5 years Sex/Altered: Female / Spayed Weight: 8 lbs Breed: Havanese Foster Home Location:  PORT HOPE, ON Adoption Fee: $750.00 Temperament: Nervous around people, comfortable with dogs Activity/Energy Level: Moderate  Up to date on Shots: Yes, plus dental done Housebroken: Work in progress Crate Trained: No, does not like the crate Ok with Dogs: Yes, needs a companion dog in the home Ok with Cats: Unknown  Ok with Kids: Unknown, but should be fine with kids 10+ years,  who are dog savvy Requirements: Securely fenced yard, someone home most of the day, a companion dog in the home and children over 10 years old who are dog savvy.  And now, a few words from me: My name is Jazz, and I am a cute, little girl. I spent my first 5 years in a mass breeding facility and was not treated very nicely. I am experiencing a lot of things for the first time and starting to like it. My foster fur brother is teaching me to play and chill on the couch. I am learning to trust my foster mom and am letting her pick me up sometimes. When she scratches my head, I am realizing that it feels good.  My foster mom tells me that my new life is going to be so fun and that I will start to trust people with time and patience. She brings me outside to go potty and I am starting to catch on but I still have accidents. I hide when I'm feeling nervous but the more comfortable I’m feeling, the less I'm doing it. I love sleeping on the end of the bed and I sleep all night and don’t make a peep. And now, a few words from my foster mom: This beautiful girl has oodles of potential and with patience and love she will blossom into a wonderful dog. She is making progress with letting her guard down and enjoys her foster fur brother. She is nervous around people but still wants to be near us. She will always end up in whatever room you are in. Jazz will need time to trust her people, but shows she loves my dog and has been learning from him. She has recently discovered the joy of trying to get the treat out of the kong. She will need a securely fenced yard. A companion dog will help her feel safe and teach her that the humans are looking after her and she can relax. Jazz is not a barker but is curious to see what is happening outside the window. A calm and patient family will help her confidence and comfort grow. Questions? Story
Winne is a sweet, calm, and lovable 8 year old Havanese whose previous guardian could no longer look after her.  She has blossomed in foster care, and although it took her a few days to decompress and adapt to her new environment, she now follows her foster mom everywhere and is always eager to go on an adventure. It is important she is given space and time to decompress in her new home and observe routines from a distance to help her build trust. She absolutely loves the car, settling in for a nap or watching the scenery go by in her elevated doggie seat.  Winnie is hesitant around new people but overcomes her hesitation quickly as she learns she is safe in her surroundings.  While a random bag blowing in the wind or a loud bang on a walk might startle her, she has quickly adapted to apartment living, elevators, and the sounds in her new home.  She will be a flight risk until she gets to know you, so double leashing is recommended on walks until she is comfortable.  She loves her food and is getting used to new people coming into the apartment and giving her a treat.  Although sometimes unsure of visitors, she will gladly take the treats that are offered and then enjoys some attention and pets.     Winnie does not enjoy being left alone but she does accept it eventually.  She might bark a little bit and pace around, but then she will settle.  She is used to being left alone for 3-4 hours at a time, but will thrive best in a home where people are often home with her, or are able to take her with them.  She will toilet in the yard but does use pee pads placed near the door of her apartment, as she does tend to toilet frequently.  For this reason, a house with a fenced yard would be ideal for Winnie so that she can go out whenever she needs to.  Winnie mostly avoids other dogs on walks, but has also bonded with a few whom she regularly sees, hopping around in excitement to meet them.  She would make a great hiking, walking buddy and companion.  She may even thrive with another small doggy best friend. This special gem of a girl cannot wait to meet her forever family and accompany them on their many adventures! February 10, 2025, 8:29 am
