He loves to snuggle and play. His favorite is to run and play in his fenced back yard with a companion dog. He wears a big smile and a beautiful, curled wagging tail.   Crew loves his toys.   Crew needs on going training. He is still getting used to being in the house. He needs to practice basic commands. He gives the best snuggles! He feels safe being close to his person. He is wearing a belly band in the house. Ongoing working on potty training. He potties outside, he needs to be taken outside frequently. Crew is very scared at first. He attaches himself to his person. He would do best with someone home most the day.   If interested, please  complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Our $275 adoption fee includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter. Meet Clara! This sweet little gal is about six years old and only about 20 pounds. Clara is a former puppy mill momma, and she is still recovering from this harsh lifestyle, but she has the biggest smile and the best tail wags. In fact, if you put her jacket on her, she'll prance around the yard with pride. The yard is Clara’s happy place; she loves to observe the world around her and just be at peace in nature. She especially loves napping in the grass and sunshine, so her adopter MUST have a fenced yard. She is independent, and she prefers to make the first move when connecting with new people. She will blossom in a relaxed environment without children under eight. Clara gets along great with her foster siblings including a cat, other dogs, and a bird. She would benefit from a confident dog in her new home, but that is not required. If you are looking for an adorable, cat-like companion who wants to peacefully coexist, Clara is your girl. Hi all! I’m Louie and I’ve been told I’m a stunning little Havanese boy. I’m just a baby really … 8 months old, and weigh approximately 10 lbs. I am predominantly white, with a bit of tan and black. I’m busy trying to figure out my boundaries and how I fit into this group of doggies at my foster mom’s. I’m somewhat of a Velcro dog, as I stay very close to my foster mom at all times. I’m a very quiet and laid back little dude, but am finding that I love to run and play. I’m learning about the crate, potty training, and how to walk on a leash. I love to be outside, even if it’s just to sun myself on the deck. I love to run free like the wind in the back yard, so a fence is definitely required. I would do well in a home with another small (20 lbs or less), playful, non-confrontational dog, and all kinds and sizes of people. I love to be snuggled on, and I usually flop right on my back, as I love the belly rubs. I’m quite vocal when playing with others and when I need to tell you what I need, so I feel apartment living is not for me. Louie is neutered, up to date on all his vaccinations, is heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative. He’s also microchipped and dewormed. Louie’s adoption fee is $425. Out of state adopters are responsible for arranging transport. WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS. Story
Lucy is a happy-go-lucky 8 month old Havanese. She is very sweet with just a little bit a sassy mixed in. Lucy loves her people and often drags all the toys to wherever her foster mama is at so she can play nearby. She enjoys going for walks and does quite well walking without pulling. Lucy has nearly perfected her potty skills. She sleeps quietly in a crate during the night. Lucy is still learning that some items in the house are not toys and needs reminders to not carry the people’s things off (although she does find this to be big fun). Other than that, she has been able to be left out when her foster family is gone without issue. She is not overly vocal, but when she has something to say, she says it quite firmly and because of this she probably would be better living in a house instead of an apartment or condo. Lucy would love to have a family who is home more often than not. She would do well with older kids (8 and up) with dog experience. She would be fine with another low-key energy pup in the home close to her size as she is not a fan of excitable dogs who don’t understand personal space. While a home with a fenced yard would be wonderful, it is not a requirement as long as Lucy gets regular walks and exercise. Lucy is spayed, up to date on all her vaccinations, is heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative. She’s also microchipped and dewormed. Lucy’s adoption fee is $425.
