Story
This is Waldorf, a funny little guy who’s a bit of an acquired taste. Or rather, he needs to acquire a taste for you before he will deign to let you handle him. We’re not sure of his history, but Waldorf appears to be a bit more comfortable with men than women – perhaps he had a male owner in the past. He has warmed up to a select crew of staff and volunteers so far (both men and women), but he remains a work in progress. He will need a patient adopter who is willing to take things at his pace. Waldorf loves to walk, and is surprisingly strong for his size, pulling you along on his quest to find the perfect place to sniff. He is also totally comfortable with other dogs, much more so than with strange humans. We suspect that once Waldorf is in his forever home, he will relax and open up much better than he can in a shelter environment. But even here, he appears totally housetrained. He would probably do best in a home without small children. Come down today and meet this little cutie to see if he’s meant to spice up your life!

Story
Ethan, a chill Lhasa Apso, is the guy who, stumbling out of the house with bedhead to grab a breakfast burrito before surfing, is discovered by a model scout and winds up on the cover of GQ, destined to be the next Spiderman. Our easygoing snaggletooth has emerged from a tough time in a coat of wild white floof and some temporary baldness, and yet he’s clearly a gentle heartthrob about to star in a forever home filled with cuteness, hijinks, and unconditional love. Likes dogs, gets around like a champ, will never say no to a treat or a snuggle. Adopt him for an easygoing bestie; update us on his journey to fame and fortune.

Story
Meet Necktie, the most dapper gentleman in town! This sweet boy is always chilling, taking life one belly rub at a time. He’s got a heart full of love and a nose that always knows where the treats are! Necktie is the perfect mix of friendly and easygoing, he gets along just fine with other dogs and absolutely adores his human friends. Whether he’s lounging by your side or following you around for snacks, he’s just happy to be part of the fun! Looking for a lovable, treat-motivated best friend? Necktie is ready to tie himself to your heart forever! Here's some notes from his foster: Necktie is such a sweet, happy, good boy. I can't say enough good things about him. The first thing you need to know about Necktie is that this guy loves to eat! Necktie is basically a 2 in 1 Hoover/floor cleaning system. Not a single crumb will escape Necktie in his quest to give you sparkling clean floors (and maybe coffee tables too, watch out!) Necktie can hold his potty overnight. He loves short walks. Sniffing is his favorite and he likes to stick close right beside you. He doesn’t have issues being left alone so I think he would be fine napping at home if you had a typical 9-5 schedule. He is a very quiet dog and we have hardy heard a peep out of him. He is most happy to curl up with you on the couch and snuggle. Necktie does have both visual and hearing impairment. He can only see and hear a little bit, but I can tell that this does not stop him at all. Necktie is very smart and had our whole apartment mapped out in no time. He remembers where we put all the dog stairs to get onto the couch and bed. He even tries (and fails) to chase our cat. Necktie navigates the world with his other senses, and he is plenty confident to run and jump around once he knows his surroundings. He will also do stairs as long and you guide him the first few times. Necktie is a very sweet cuddly boy who deserves to live the good life after his time as a stray. So many families out there would be lucky to have him!

Story
This little gem is a medical special needs pup. Sasha is a very sweet and easy going 3 year old Bichon mix; she is about 11 pounds. She loves all people and dogs and enamors everyone she meets. She walks well on leash, sleeps through the night in her crate, and does relatively well with her alone time. She has an adorable way of getting one's attention and loves to play with other dogs. Unfortunately Sasha was most likely hit by a car at some point and her spine is broken in her lower back. She has full use of all her legs, but she's completely incontinent. Her foster assists her to empty her bladder 3-4 times per day (easy to do, and a potential adopter could be taught to do it). If she is assisted to empty her bladder, her diaper stays dry and her fur stays clean. Due to her condition, Sasha is prone to UTIs, but helping her to empty her bladder regularly decreases this potential. Luckily she doesn't show any signs of pain and has a full life expectancy. Sasha will need to live with someone who is home most of the time. She'd probably do best in a home with a yard, so she doesn't always have to be in a diaper, but she would also be an easy dog for an apartment dweller as she doesn't necessarily have to be walked first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Since Sasha is "non-shedding, she will need regular grooming. Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Sasha is $200. If you are interested in adopting Sasha, please complete our online adoption application at  https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/   . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area. We will consider applicants outside the 9-county San Francisco Bay Area for Sasha, as long as applicant is able to travel to Oakland for meet and greet, and pick up.
