Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION THIS IS JETT…and yes, he is jet black and cute all over! This 4 yr old, 14.5 lb, gorgeous pup is either a Havanese or Lhasa mix. He is a little slight to be a Lhasa, but Havanese rescue says probably a mix. Doesn’t matter to us…does it matter to you? Whatever he is, we think he’s great! Jett was found in a crate at the entrance to Mile Square Park with food and water 🙁 and picked up by the OC Animal Shelter. We don’t know his back story, but it couldn’t have been great. When he first arrived, he was in a lot of pain but we didn’t know it. He was growling at the other dogs and was not a happy camper — was very food possessive and cranky! We only found out when he went PP and it was full of blood! We thought he might have stones, but labs and xrays proved otherwise — just a bad UTI. He does get a little leash reactive SOMETIMES on a walk and will be protective if he doesn’t know you (with strangers and men) but once he knows you, he’s a lover. Now that he is healthy, Jett is a fantastic pup! He loves to chase toys (even sometimes carries them around), give kisses, ride in the car and steal treats! Jett walks well on the leash and loves his walks! His first day at his foster home he couldn’t hold his PP, which is understandable considering his condition. A few days passed, he is accident free and seems to do his business outside — but no guarantees at your house!! He loves to cuddle, get belly rubs — kind of goes into Nirvana when he is getting them! Jett definitely wants to be with you, so he should go to a home where you work from home or can take him along…or he might enjoy having a female canine companion to hang with. Jett is pretty active, and very sweet, so his home should be active and sweet!! Does that sound like your home? Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, groomed, vet checked, dewormed, deflea'd and come with a leash, collar and ID If you are interested in adopting a pup from Lhasa Happy Homes, please complete the Adoption Application before calling. We will contact you once it has been reviewed. Lhasa Happy Homes will be now holding our adoption events the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month on Main Street in Santa Monica (check calendar link below for special events and directions). Our event is located at 2116 Main Street, in Santa Monica, CA. Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household. Main Street is famous for its innovative shops and is close to the beach! Make a day of it!! Metered parking on the street and free parking on 4th and Bicknell Streets. Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household....and do some fantastic shopping at the same time! Please do call us if you are coming to see a particular dog to make sure he/she will be at adoptions (we do not bring sick dogs to our adoption events). Please bring pictures or video of your home and yard if we have not done a home check (preferred)! Most importantly, if you have a dog, make sure you bring him or her to do a compatibility match with the dog you are interested in adopting! Don't forget to check out our Events Calendar for more information on upcoming events! See our home page for more details about our adoptions at Lhasa Happy Homes Thanks for thinking rescue and adoption and for considering saving a life. It will be the best gift you ever give yourself or your family.

Merrybelle has the sweetest disposition, so kind and gentle. To no fault of her own, she was dumped at the shelter with a severely broken leg. The shelter thinks she was hit by a car. Our rescue took her in and got her the surgery she needed. She is recovering well in her foster home and getting along with her furry friends. Merrybell will be available for adoption.

Story
Fred is a Havanese/Chihuahua mix who looks just like a mini Golden Retriever! He is 8 months old, cute as can be, and still learning all about the world that is now his to explore. Randy is a year old, and also a Havanese/Chihuahua mix. They spent the first part of their lives in a backyard with the other dogs in the home. New people can make them a little nervous and barky, but we know in a patient home they would thrive and be able to work through their shyness. These boys love to play, and learned how to walk on leash very quickly! They have a lot to learn, and in exchange a lot of love to give! These sweet boys will need a patient home, but we know they will flourish with time. Both Randy and Fred getting belly rubs, and will nuzzle your hand and give kisses when they wants pets. Under all the nervousness these boys have such a sweet demeanor. The shelter has tried to adopt them out separately, but have not been successful in getting either one to the point that they are comfortable enough to go without one another. They are bonded, and end up helping one another get comfortable and warm up to new people. We know taking in two shy dogs will be a lot of work, but they need to remain together, and we are happy to keep them safe and healthy until someone falls in love with them BOTH. If you have experience in adopting shy dogs, you know just how rewarding it is to see them blossom once they feel safe. Randy and Fred have so much love to give, and are sure to bring so much joy with their adorable smiles and personalities.December 9, 2024, 3:51 pm

Story
Looking for a home for Max, a adorable senior dog who suffers from severe separation anxiety. He thrives any environment where someone is always around. It would be especially helpful if there is another senior dog to keep him company. Max is a kind, affectionate dog who is great with kids and even gets along with cats. Despite his age, he still has a playful, puppy-like spirit and looks just as youthful as ever. However, with our two young kids and their busy schedule, we often have to leave him alone at home, which has been causing him a lot of stress. He was fine when my wife was home more often, but now with her responsibilities at home, Max's anxiety has worsened. Because of his anxiety, Max cant be left alone for long periods; he becomes so stressed that he may have accidents in the house, and we've had complaints from neighbors about his barking when left alone in a crate. If you're someone who works from home or is retired, Max would be an ideal companion.

Story
Hi, my name is Riley! I am less than 3 years young and still show off some puppy traits. I love playing 'tug-tug' with my four year old human foster-buddy. I get really vocal when I play. I know how to be gentle while playing, I go to great lengths to avoid landing on, biting, or scratching my foster-buddy. I like playing with him, but I REALLY enjoy playing with bigger humans more. With my foster family I haven't been able to play with other dogs. While on walks, I LOVE walks, I do encounter a number of other dogs and I usually come across pretty assertive, so I stay on-leash. Walking 1-2 miles per day helps keep me happy. I sometimes like a good speed walk and other times enjoy smelling the roses. I like to sleep on beds and give kisses. I also enjoy sitting on laps a lot! It took me a bit to get used to my foster-family's back yard, so it might take me a bit to get used to yours. I take baths well, but nail trimming… I do not like nail trimming… I bonded with my foster mom quickly, but get a little nervous sometimes when her big kids get me ready for a walk. I learned who lived in my foster house quickly. The more time you can spend with me, the happier I am!
