Story
We know that Gia’s perfect family is out there and will love her forever! We are amazed by this resilient girl. Gia was found as a stray in the Houston area and has been rehomed numerous times, through no fault of her own. Gia is so friendly and playful with other dogs after proper introductions. She currently lives with 2 other dog foster siblings. Gia loves riding in the car and visiting friends at her favorite pet supply store. Because of her difficult past life, Gia can be slower to warm up to men, but she is making great progress with her foster mom and dad. We know that Gia’s perfect family is out there and will love her forever! If you would like to add Gia to your family, please submit an application at www.savingsouthtexas.com/adoptables

Story
It Takes a Rescue Village: Abby & Amie’s Journey Rescue is never a one-person job. It takes a team—people who care, people who act, and people who show up when time is running out. That’s exactly what happened with Abby and Amie. These two tiny sisters, just 4 and 5 pounds, were found outside a grocery store in East Texas and taken to the local pound. Their mange was causing itchy, painful skin and hair loss, but they were still as sweet as could be. Unfortunately, their time was almost up—their hold date was today, Monday the 17th. If no one stepped in, their fate was sealed. A Hound Rescue adopter and donor spotted them and knew they needed help. The challenge? Finding a way to get them out in time. It felt nearly impossible on such short notice, but thanks to an incredible team effort, everything fell into place. We reached out to a transport coordinator who specializes in helping rescues, and she immediately got to work. Through her network, transport volunteers stepped up, including another Hound Rescue adopter and donor, to get Abby and Amie safely from the shelter to our vet clinic in Hutto. Without this group effort, they wouldn’t be here today. As of mid February 2025,they are safe. They’ve had their first medicated bath, they’ve seen the vet, and they’re settling in with their foster mom. We can’t wait to watch them heal and share their progress with you.
