Story
**Reclaimed 2/3/2025** Ruby is a beautiful 2-1/2 year old female Beagle who was brought to the HSOV late on the evening of February 2, 2025 by a Good Samaritan who found her on Goose Run Road in the Marietta Ohio area. Ruby was not wearing a collar, and she was not microchipped. This little sweetheart has a tricolor short smooth coat, a long tail with the traditional white tip on the end, and a classic Beagle face with dark brown eyes, a dusting of white on her slender muzzle, and large brown velvet ears which frame her face. Ruby appears to have the affectionate easygoing disposition for which the Beagle breed is known. These photos were taken late in the afternoon of February 3rd by our Beagle-loving photographer who naturally fell in love with Ruby's lovable personality. Ruby posed like a 'pro' and intermittently came quietly to the front of her floor crate for some petting and soft baby-talk. Ruby weighs 25 lbs. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Ruby will be held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that her family will have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership. If we have an opportunity to take some out-of-cage pictures of this little beauty, we would love to take more flattering photos of Ruby.

Story
Penny is a cute one-year old female Beagle/Labrador Retriever mix who was brought to the HSOV on January 5, 2025. We had hoped that she would be reunited with her family but, unfortunately, they decided on February 27th that they could not take her back home after all ... And asked us to find her a loving home instead. This young lady has a tan short smooth coat with cream-coloring shading on her chest, a long tail, and an adorable (rather mischievous-looking) face with pale brown eyes, a liver-colored nose, and large floppy ears which frame her face. Penny is merely an overgrown puppy at one-year old and exhibits normal puppy behavior (especially chewing/digging). She appears to have some separation anxiety issues and surely misses the comfort/security of her home and family. Penny has made her 'home' in the front office of the shelter since all of our kennels are full, and she would love to be in a larger area where she would have more space to stretch her legs and to expend some youthful energy. This little girl is 'starved' for attention. Penny had shared her home with children. Penny may be a little too active for small/young children since she tends to jump when she is playing/excited and could unintentionally knock youngsters down. Penny is selective about which dogs she chooses as her friends :( Penny weighs 36.4 lbs and is fairly strong on a leash. Penny will be spayed before being adopted by her new family. She could be fostered while awaiting her spay procedure with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application. Update: Penny was spayed on March 4, 2025 and was also given rabies vaccine.

Story
Bruce Wayne is a handsome 7-year old male Beagle who was brought to the HSOV on March 4, 2025 by the Washington County Ohio Dog Warden who picked him on Bells Run Road in the Newport Ohio area. Bruce was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped. This debonair older guy has a tricolor short smooth coat, a long tail, and a classic Beagle face with soulful brown eyes, a dusting of white on his muzzle, and extra-large brown velvet ears which frame his beautiful face. Bruce Wayne appears to have the super-sweet disposition and was a real gentleman when we took first photos on March 4th and March 5th. Bruce was cool, calm, and collected. Bruce Wayne weighs 30.4 lbs. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Bruce will be held for three days so that his family will have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Surely someone is missing this awesome boy.
