Story
Female, 10 years old, 28 lbs.
Personality: smart, calm, quiet, curious, adaptable, easygoing, and gentle.
Hi, I'm Sammy, a mellow and stately senior lady looking for love! Given my maturity and intellect, I have developed a calm and gentle demeanor that makes me your ideal companion. I love to go on walks, but I also know that some of the most important things are a good treat and a comfortable spot to get an ear scratch.
I am great with humans of all ages, even toddlers. My quiet nature extends to home, where I rarely bark and will make myself comfortable in my crate. There's a lot to love about me, from the funny little zoomies I occasionally get, to my loyal nature. Not to mention that I know to go to "do my business" outside, and have figured out the word "sit".
I hope you will apply to meet me. There is no need for me to put on my best behavior because I exhibit that all the time! I would love to go on a short date followed by a treat and a good ear scratch. Let's go!
Sammy was saved by Madison and Joel Peralta in honor of Junebug, their beloved CDCK senior rescue, who epitomized the power of second chances. She loved, and is loved and missed in turn, very fiercely.
If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model).
Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.
Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis.
Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.
