Story
TS Colby Chaos, R 12E, L 75145Hi, I'm Colby! I love Allllll the rubs and leaning on people. On walks, I love when people stop to pet me and to visit shops for treats and pets. I like to independently play with toys too but my foster person says I haven't discovered that they squeak yet. I have a funny way of scratching my head using my leg (not foot, although I do use my foot, too). It is really quirky! I am very sweet, super curious, and a bit mischievous. I do like to counter surf and my foster says I might be a hoarder. I took her slippers into my kennel. I'm great in the car but I need help getting in. My foster says I'm interested in other dogs - staring them down, pulling hard, a few times spinning on leash - so she did not have me meet any yet. I'm probably just so curious about seeing other types of dogs that aren't greyhounds. Something I can work on with some help from my forever person. Something else I need to work on with your help is that I'm not a fan of having certain things taken away. Looking forward to meeting you! Story
O Ya Iowa PBS, R 32E, L 75205Hi! My name is Buddy! I love sticking my head in your space to force pets, toys, walks, treats, being next to my humans. I have a tendency to be a leaner and a shadow dog, I have a bit of energy when let out of the kennel (a walk or play session in the yard is a must). I am friendly, curious, energetic (but know when to calm down), a toy collector, a cuddle bug, an absolute sweetheart. I get along with people, med/large dogs (haven't met small yet), and kids. I would rather not be on slippery floors (I manage but panic if I slip) and I need some basic obedience, and a kennel is a good idea for when I'm left alone. My foster people say that I'm a really sweet boy and that he has opened up so much since coming to them and that he is going to make such a great addition to any home. Is that home YOURS?   Personality Traits:   laid back, social, cuddly, playful, velcro dog, energetic, goofy   To see other hounds currently in our care please visit the Hounds in Our Care page on our website. Story
O Ya Popper, R 62A, L 75273Hi, "Popper" here. That's my given name and I'm pretty sure it belongs to me. I love walks and think they're awesome, particularly because there are so many sights/sounds/smells to explore and at least a couple squirrels and/or rabbits on every block! I like people and tend to stay close when I can - my foster family say I'm already the best leash-walker they've had partly because I'll stick to your hip :-) I get along with other dogs I've met but don't need their company. I would rather not be crated nor left alone but I'm working on that. Not to boast, but I'm really smart - I learned the stairs within 48 hours and have already learned how to live in a house quite well. I'm very observant and will pick up on training quickly. I would love a big yard (with a high fence but that's not a requirement. I have a gentle, affectionate demeanor and when you become my forever family, you'll fall in love in a heartbeat.  Personality Traits: laid back, cuddly, velcro dog, strong willed, independent.  To see other hounds currently in our care please visit the Hounds in Our Care page on our website. Story
O Ya Thata Boy, R 60E, L 74681I'm Bravo. I love going on walks. I have slightly droopy cheeks that are quite charming. One look at me and you won't be able to resist kissing my snoot. (I dare you to try!) I am shy at first, but give me time to settle in and I will show you I am a very friendly guy. Once I break out of my shell, I get along with everyone I meet! I would rather not be left alone in a room with food within my reach. It's just too tempting for me to try and have a taste. I need a home that will be diligent with making sure I don't run out the door. I just get so excited to have the opportunity to go outside! My foster family says that I am a really sweet guy and just need a bit more time to learn my manners. I do really well with being redirected and do listen to the word "no." I'm still learning about toys. Right now I prefer the human's stuffed animals and slippers to dog toys.  Personality Traits: laid back, social, velcro dog, shy To see other hounds currently in our care please visit the Hounds in Our Care page on our website. Story
R 99E, L 74070 ,LK’s AblazeI'm Blaze! I love naps (Lazy Blazey), scritches, comfy beds, cuddles. I also love hard boiled eggs and my favorite thing is doing a BIG stretch in the morning. I have a goofy little mouse face and black-and-white "panda paws". I have a funny way of sitting down where I lower my face first then my butt. I am a lazy boy! I am a good listener (you can ask me to go to my kennel). And a good walker! I'm a little skittish at first but seem to be warming up nicely. I get along great with people, including new people. I sometimes get feisty or greyhounds when I'm nervous and in a new situation. I just need a slow, low-excitement introduction to greyhounds in the same house and then I'm fine with them after we settle in. I haven't been around other dogs yet. I would rather not go for very long walks. Around the mile mark I start slowing down a fair bit. I'd rather nap. I would rather not eat hard/crunchy food... please soften it with water! I would also prefer not poop while on a leash and when humans are watching. I might do better with a yard or with someone that can help me work on my pooping shyness. I'm not big on rowdy dogs, calm dogs are okay, so I probably would do best in a home without other dogs. My foster person says that I would be a great dog for a home that is NOT super active and that he has been very polite by respecting my belongings, staying off furniture, and being calm when I leave him alone during the day. He sleeps great at night and is still a bit wary of mirrors. Hope to find my forever family soon! Story
SG Lady Luck, R 86C, L 69125Hi, my name is Shy. I love my daily walks! I am so excited to see what is out there, there are dogs of all sizes, not just greyhounds! Who knew? I am so happy to meet new people, and love it when they pet me and tell me I'm sweet and not shy at all. I have a lot of curiosity so my foster mom hides the bread and any other food I might get into while she is gone. I am very friendly with people and dogs. New dogs are particularly interesting, I really need to get up in their business and check to make sure they are actually a dog! But I don't like it if they crowd me, a girl needs her space. I get along with people, my foster brother greyhound and the neighborhood dogs that I now know. My foster mom watches me with new dogs, just to be sure we respect each other and nobody gets nippy I would rather not be kenneled a lot. I am okay with night time kenneling but during the day I love the anti-anxiety bed and some toys around so I prefer to be baby gated in the back part of the house. I often like to go out for some sun in the afternoon or to go potty if someone is around to let me out. If not, so far I can hold it for a while. I need training on walks, I am a fast walker with lots to explore and smell. I want to pee on as many things in my neighborhood as possible! My foster mom says I'm a sweet girl that spends most of her day napping but really loves a long walk twice a day. She is generally not super interested in her food in the morning but eventually eats it. Always eats her evening meal much quicker. When she whines it almost always means, let me outside I gotta pee! Gets slightly nervous if one person leaves the house but settles down within 2-3 minutes.
