Story
SE Thor's Hammer, R71B, L75002Hi. I’m Thor. I’m not quite the god of thunder that I’m named after, in fact I’m a sweet and submissive boy. I love walks and think they're awesome! I might secretly love people too, but I'm a little shy at first but curious. I like to come to people when I'm ready and enjoy getting pets. I love having my own space in the house, and as long as I have a refuge and squeaky stuffy toys, I tolerate a lot of activity going on in the house. I get along with dogs the best, calm children are my next favorite, then adults. Anyone noisy or fast, I'll most likely choose to go up to last. I would rather not be kenneled and be an only dog. I really look to other dogs for reassurance and do fine as long as I have a dog buddy to hang with. I also really don't like stairs and so far, no amount of bribery and FOMO has tempted me enough to give them a go. My foster mom will continue to encourage me to give them a try. My new foster mom also says that I have opened up so much in just the two weeks that she's been with me and that it will be amazing to see how much braver I will get once I'm with my forever family. Could you be that forever family?  To see other hounds currently in our care please visit the Hounds in Our Care page on our website. Story
TS Dustin Lynch, R 80G, L 74728I'm Dustin! I love food & treats, walks, people, being petted, children, starting to like toys, peeing on stuff outside. I have a gentle disposition, a tendency to be a leaner, curiosity, decent leash skills (minimal pulling), and no house training accidents so far. I am friendly, becoming playful, curious, and learning the stairs quickly. I get along with everyone, but get excited about squirrels when off leash in the fenced yard. I would rather not Have people in the house while I'm crated. Not destructive but will whine or bark. I need Some more stairs work, getting good at going up even challenging, painted wooden stairs, but still learning to go down. Hoping to meet my forever people soon!  Personality Traits:   laid back, social, cuddly, playful, velcro dog  To see other hounds currently in our care please visit the Hounds in Our Care page on our website. Story
TS Colby Chaos, R 12E, L 75145Hi, I'm Colby! I love Allllll the rubs and leaning on people. On walks, I love when people stop to pet me and to visit shops for treats and pets. I like to independently play with toys too but my foster person says I haven't discovered that they squeak yet. I have a funny way of scratching my head using my leg (not foot, although I do use my foot, too). It is really quirky! I am very sweet, super curious, and a bit mischievous. I do like to counter surf and my foster says I might be a hoarder. I took her slippers into my kennel. I'm great in the car but I need help getting in. My foster says I'm interested in other dogs - staring them down, pulling hard, a few times spinning on leash - so she did not have me meet any yet. I'm probably just so curious about seeing other types of dogs that aren't greyhounds. Something I can work on with some help from my forever person. Something else I need to work on with your help is that I'm not a fan of having certain things taken away. Looking forward to meeting you! Personality Traits:   laid back, social, playful, independent, goofy, strong willed  To see other hounds currently in our care please visit the Hounds in Our Care page on our website. Story
O Ya Iowa PBS, R 32E, L 75205Hi! My name is Buddy! I love sticking my head in your space to force pets, toys, walks, treats, being next to my humans. I have a tendency to be a leaner and a shadow dog, I have a bit of energy when let out of the kennel (a walk or play session in the yard is a must). I am friendly, curious, energetic (but know when to calm down), a toy collector, a cuddle bug, an absolute sweetheart. I get along with people, med/large dogs (haven't met small yet), and kids. I would rather not be on slippery floors (I manage but panic if I slip) and I need some basic obedience, and a kennel is a good idea for when I'm left alone. My foster people say that I'm a really sweet boy and that he has opened up so much since coming to them and that he is going to make such a great addition to any home. Is that home YOURS?   Personality Traits:   laid back, social, cuddly, playful, velcro dog, energetic, goofy   To see other hounds currently in our care please visit the Hounds in Our Care page on our website. Story
O Ya Popper, R 62A, L 75273Hi, "Popper" here. That's my given name and I'm pretty sure it belongs to me. I love walks and think they're awesome, particularly because there are so many sights/sounds/smells to explore and at least a couple squirrels and/or rabbits on every block! I like people and tend to stay close when I can - my foster family say I'm already the best leash-walker they've had partly because I'll stick to your hip :-) I get along with other dogs I've met but don't need their company. I would rather not be crated nor left alone but I'm working on that. Not to boast, but I'm really smart - I learned the stairs within 48 hours and have already learned how to live in a house quite well. I'm very observant and will pick up on training quickly. I would love a big yard (with a high fence but that's not a requirement. I have a gentle, affectionate demeanor and when you become my forever family, you'll fall in love in a heartbeat.  Personality Traits: laid back, cuddly, velcro dog, strong willed, independent.  To see other hounds currently in our care please visit the Hounds in Our Care page on our website. Story
O Ya Thata Boy, R 60E, L 74681I'm Bravo. I love going on walks. I have slightly droopy cheeks that are quite charming. One look at me and you won't be able to resist kissing my snoot. (I dare you to try!) I am shy at first, but give me time to settle in and I will show you I am a very friendly guy. Once I break out of my shell, I get along with everyone I meet! I would rather not be left alone in a room with food within my reach. It's just too tempting for me to try and have a taste. I need a home that will be diligent with making sure I don't run out the door. I just get so excited to have the opportunity to go outside! My foster family says that I am a really sweet guy and just need a bit more time to learn my manners. I do really well with being redirected and do listen to the word "no." I'm still learning about toys. Right now I prefer the human's stuffed animals and slippers to dog toys.  Personality Traits: laid back, social, velcro dog, shy To see other hounds currently in our care please visit the Hounds in Our Care page on our website. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Want to meet me? Come to the Underdog Headquarters (3345 Dakota Ave, St. Louis Park, 55416) for an Adoption Event on Sunday, November 17th from 12:00-1:00 pm . Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs.   Hi there! I’m Isaac, a playful 3-month-old Italian Greyhound puppy, and I’m still learning all the tricks of life. I’m a little shy at first, both at home and when I’m out, but once I get comfortable, I love to play—especially with other animals! I’m not picky about my playmates; I get along with both dogs and cats, though I do like to try and play with the cats a lot. I love all kinds of toys (even if they happen to be your socks), and I’m always up for a fun game! When it comes to loud noises or a lot of commotion, I can get a bit overwhelmed, but I’m working on building my confidence. I haven’t quite mastered potty training yet, but I’m making progress. The leash is still a work in progress too, so I do best with a fenced yard where I can do my business freely. I’m also still learning to feel comfortable in my crate. Sometimes I’ll bark when I’m in there because I’m not too fond of it yet and need more practice. I love affection and am slowly learning to enjoy being petted and snuggled. If you’ve got a playful household with other furry friends, I’d love to be a part of it! I’m full of energy and learning new things every day, so if you’re patient and ready for puppy fun, I’m your guy! *I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. If you are looking for a best friend, please fill out the puppy application. The more info you include on the application the better so I can find a good match for my forever home. Get your toy box ready! **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.  T his puppy requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.  We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion.   Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
