Story
Hey there, I’m Maggie Marie, but you can call me MaeMae (my humans do, and I love it). I’m 2 years old, a sweet, laid-back, 120lbs of pure love and fluff. I’m the type of gal who loves cuddles more than zoomies—though don’t worry, I still have my moments. But hey, I’m not one of those high-energy Saints. I mean, I’ve got the size and the name, but I’m more about that slow-and-steady vibe. I’m potty trained, kennel trained, and I know how to use the doggie door. I’m basically a Saint Bernard with a good head on my shoulders. I’m a lover, not a fighter, so I get along with all the other dogs, cats, and probably even the squirrels if they weren’t so squirrel-y around me. When I’m not playing with my doggie pals, I’m happily melting into a heap of fluffy cuddle puddles with my humans. Love me, pet me, scratch me—those are the only rules in my house. I know you are curious about how I ended up here. So, here’s a little bit about my past... I came to PPFT because my human was going through a divorce and couldn’t take me with her. It was a tough time for both of us, but now I am concentrating on my next big adventure—which hopefully includes you! Now, I may be 120lbs, but don’t let that scare you. I’m just a big, squishy gal with a heart to match my size. Expect me to accidentally knock things over as I try to gracefully enter a room (you’ll learn to move the vases). I might also think I’m a lap dog and try to squeeze onto your lap, only to realize halfway through that I don't quite fit. Oh, who I am kidding...of course I will fit! And speaking of big... I might need a bigger space to turn around. I’m like a majestic, fluffy freight train, so be prepared to occasionally navigate around my "wide load" when I’m lounging on the floor. You’ll get used to me casually stepping on your toes while walking past—I’m not trying to squash you, I just don't always quite understand just how much space I take up. ;) I’m ready to answer some of your burning questions now. First things first—would I do well with other dogs? Absolutely! I’m the friendly type and love hanging out with my doggie friends. I’m a social butterfly (well, a really big one), so whether it’s playtime or just lounging around, I’m all about the good vibes with other pups. But... would I be okay as the only dog? You bet! I mean, I’ll happily share the love with other dogs, but if you’re looking for a solo cuddle buddy, I’m all in. I’m perfectly content being the queen of my castle. Now, about cats. I hear some people say that Saint Bernards and cats don’t mix. But honestly? I’m pretty indifferent. My previous owner said I didn’t like them, but in my foster home, I’ve been totally chill. I don’t bother them, and they don’t bother me. As for kids? Oh, 100% yes! I’m super sweet and gentle, and I love being around the little humans. I’ve got a lot of love to give, so if you have kids who want a giant, cuddly best friend, I’m your girl. Just make sure they don’t try to climb on me—I’m a big girl, but I do have my limits when it comes to becoming a jungle gym. I may look like a pony (if ponies had a very fluffy makeover), and I might even walk like one, but that doesn’t mean I’m open to little ones trying to climb on me or pretend I’m their personal ride. Nope, the only "neigh" you’ll hear from me is when I say "nope" to all that silliness! Keep the horsing around to a minimum, please—I'm all about the cuddles, not the cowboy games. Let’s talk about some of my other top-tier qualities, shall we? First up—car rides. I love them! Just hop me in the car, and I’ll immediately sit up, look out the window, and pretend I’m in a doggie version of The Bachelor. I’m just waiting for someone to hand me a rose (or a snack, either works). So if you're planning a road trip, I’m ready to go, and I’ll keep the backseat entertained with my majestic window gazing. Now, public outings? Count me in! Whether it’s hitting up a cafe, strolling through the pet store, or hanging out for a social visit, I’m totally down for the adventure. I’m the kind of gal who’ll charm everyone with my gentle giant vibe and my sweet, loving nature. If there’s a crowd, I’ll bask in all the attention like the superstar I am (don't worry, I’m not too needy about it). But also, if a quiet day at home is more your style, I’m totally cool with that, too. I’m the perfect homebody. I’ll curl up on the couch, take a nap, and be your loyal sidekick while you binge-watch shows or work from home. I’m low-key like that, but I do enjoy being with you no matter where we are! When it comes to walks, I’ve got leash manners down pat. I don’t pull or try to trip you (although, with my size, I wouldn’t blame you if you thought I might). We can take leisurely strolls without the tug-of-war over the leash. And finally—meeting new people? Oh, I’m EXCITED! I’m basically a walking party whenever I see someone new. I’ll greet them like they just walked into my personal fan club. Tail wagging, ears flopping—I'm all about making new friends! Just watch out, because my excitement might knock you over if you’re not ready for the 120lbs of love I’m about to throw at you. Alright, let’s talk about my overall temperament! I’m the ultimate mix of playful and calm, with just the right balance to keep things interesting. I’ll happily play with my doggie pals for a little bit but then I’m so ready to call it quits and just chill. My motto? Play hard, nap harder. So if you're looking for a dog who’ll entertain you with some fun but then gladly relax by your side, I’m your girl. As for fetch? Uh, no thanks. I mean, why would I run after a ball when I could just watch it roll away, completely uninterested? I’d rather let the other dogs chase it and then give them a polite, “Good job, I’m proud of you,” while I take a well-deserved nap. So, if you’re looking for a fetch partner, you might want to try someone with a bit more... energy. Let’s talk logistics, shall we? Can I handle apartment living? Oh, absolutely! I’m a big girl, but I’m more of a "chill in the corner" type than a "take up the whole room" kind of dog. I’m surprisingly low-key for my size, so as long as you’ve got a comfy spot for me to stretch out and a few snacks, I’m good to go. I’m potty trained (because let’s be honest, who wants to deal with accidents in a small space?), and I’m kennel trained. I don’t chew on anything other than toys (don’t worry, I’ll leave your shoes and furniture alone), I don’t dig holes in the yard, and I’m not one to jump fences—no need for a doggy Houdini here! As for my barking... well, let’s just say I’m in Guardian Mode Level 3. I’m not a yappy dog, but when I’m on patrol in the yard, I do like to let everyone know I’m watching. It’s more of a “I see you, but I’m cool” type of bark. Just giving you the heads up in case a leaf blows by or an ant dares to cross my path. All part of my majestic, protective charm. I may be a gorgeous girl, but I’m looking for someone who wants me as their forever dog. Not just until something changes. I’m not a “temporary” kind of gal—I’m in it for the long haul. Whether you’re moving, getting a new partner, or going through a life change, I’ll still be right here, loving you just as much. No conditions, no "untils." I want to be the dog that’s by your side for every step of your journey, through thick and thin. o, if you’re ready to open your heart and your home to a loyal companion who’s going to stick with you through whatever life throws our way, I’d love to be your girl. No matter where life takes us, I’ll be there, wagging my tail, ready to share all the love I’ve got. So what happens next? Well, I would hope that you would submit an adoption app for me. You can find the app on the rescue's website, message them for it, or find it in the comments below. I am being fostered in ✨Hutchinson, KS,✨ so if you live outside the area..no worries. Just be prepared to pack for a road trip because this rescue doesn't send us on transports. So, both they and I will be expecting you to come pick me up. And what better way to start the bonding process than with a road trip?!
