Story
Meet Lobo! This stunning 2.5-year-old, 75-pound Pyrenees/Husky mix is on the hunt for his forever family. Lobo may seem reserved at first, but once he warms up, his goofy, loving personality shines through. He’s a dog that just needs a bit of time to feel comfortable around new people.Lobo absolutely loves his walks, though he’s more of a “hide behind you” type when strangers approach for pets. However, he’s fantastic with other dogs & gets along well with cats. He’s also incredibly gentle with children, as long as they understand he needs space to come around at his own pace.Fully potty trained, neutered, & vaccinated, Lobo is all set for his new home. He’s not a fan of kennels, but the good news is, you can trust him to be free in the house while you’re out.If you’re looking for a loyal companion & have the patience to help Lobo feel safe & confident, he could be the perfect fit for you!DATCP# 483538

Story
Polar the gentle giant is a 3 year old great Pyrenees male. This gorgeous boy was surrendered to the shelter in Texas when his family decided they no longer wanted him, due to no fault of his own. Polar is a sweet, friendly guy who always has love to give. While he is sad his family didn't want him any longer, he has heard about this really cool thing called snow, and he cannot wait to be out of the Texas heat! He is good with people of all ages and other dogs, as well as cats! He particularly loves puppies! Polar is potty trained in his foster home, however his new family should be prepared to do additional training while he learns the routine at his new home in WI, especially as he lived outdoors while in Texas. He is neutered, tested heartworm negative, up to date on vaccines, dewormed and microchipped, and he comes with his medical records and interstate health certificate from a veterinary examination prior to leaving Texas, which certifies him to be in good condition. His adoption fee is $500, which will be used to support the many animals in our care whose medical bills far surpass their much lower adoption fee. Story
Meet Gertie, a sweet and gentle 1-year-old pup with a heartwarming story of resilience. Rescued from a high-kill Texas shelter, Gertie gave birth to 9 puppies on the day she was set to be euthanized. Despite her tough start, Gertie’s loving nature shines through. She's docile, submissive, and plays well with other dogs, while being non-reactive toward cats. Gertie sleeps quietly in her crate and enjoys both playtime and relaxing by your side. Due to her past, she needs a patient and loving home, especially when it comes to warming up to men. Could you be the one to show her the world? FEE INCLUDES: Adopting an adult dog (6 months or older) includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, deworming, flea & tick prevention, heartworm testing, and microchipping. For dogs under 6 months, they receive age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, flea/tick prevention, and microchipping. All dogs are spayed/neutered by 6 months, covered within the adoption fee. The procedure must be done at one of our partner clinics. To begin the adoption process, please submit an application on our website: www.hbwi.org/adopt. Once approved, you'll have the opportunity to meet our available dogs. Following the meeting, you can initiate a 5-day Adoption Trial, allowing you to take the dog home. This trial period is designed to ensure the dog is a match for you and aligns with your lifestyle. After the 5-day trial, if all goes well, the adoption will be finalized. Additionally, we require a home visit once the dog is settled in its new home to ensure a smooth transition for both the dog and the adopter.
