Story
Meet Benny, a two year old Anatolian Shepherd mix.Benny is has a heart of gold despite the lack of care he has received. This boy came to us extremely emaciated, covered in scabs, missing hair and with a dampened spirit. With a couple good meals, medical care and love he is beginning to shine like new. Benny currently only weighs 92 pounds... Yes, we do mean ONLY... This we would love to see this boy at 110 pounds if not more. He is missing one of his eyes and came to us like that. Despite everything he doesn't hold a grudge against humans. In fact, if you ask him he will argue that he grew this big in order to be optimal height for receiving scratches... You hardly have to bend down. Isn't he considerate? Benny may look older but as he continues to heal you notice he is kinda a dorky puppy. He tried to engage a small dog in play recently and has been good around the cat he met, this isn't surprising considering his breed mix. He is doing fantastic at his potty training and really is a good boy. Benny can dig through your trash, so you may have to keep food out of reach, but we aren't surprised by this as it may have been how he survived. Been is working on his leash training and it is coming along very well. He is a shining example of how dogs can experience cruelty and neglect but come out ready to forgive with an heart ready to love again. This pet is available for adoption on 10/24/2024 4:15 PM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854.If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Before you go searching for free puppies or puppies for sale, check your local Shelters for available dogs and puppies that have been vetted and are ready to go home. Adopt Don't Shop.

Story
Meet Trucker, a one and a half year old Anatolian Shepherd mix weighing in around 90 pounds. Trucker is a fun guy who walks surprisingly well on his leash despite his size. His owner says he was good with cats, dogs and kids but we always recommend doing supervised introductions and watching them at first. He is a good boy that goes in and out of his kennel with ease and loves his squeaky toys, when he gets really excited you get to see this big goof ball play.
