Story
Monologue is a smart, affectionate, and playful 1-year-old pup. His DNA results show he is a unique mix of Great Pyrenees, Catahoula Leopard Dog, and Labrador Retriever. He’s athletic, expressive (read vocal!), and full of personality—and he absolutely adores all humans. He is potty trained and crate trained. He will happily go into his crate with a treat and sleeps through the night. Because he’s a talented jumper/climber and curious about putting things in his mouth, a secure crate is important when no one is home. He is leash trained, loves walks, and being outside (he would thrive with a fenced-in yard).  Monologue enjoys wrestling and energetic play with dogs that match his energy—especially smaller or more submissive dogs. He is loving his foster family's resident dog. He does best with clear boundaries around resources: Needs to be fed separately from other dogs (he resource guards food) Shares water bowls just fine Loves toys and may try to take another dog’s toy (keep-away is one of his favorite games) Can be selective with dogs, particularly larger males Ideal Home  --  Monologue would thrive in: A home without small children (he’s a big boy and quite strong and playful,). Our 10 year old is fine with his strength. An active adopter who can provide multiple walks or play sessions daily A household that values structure, enrichment, and consistency Why You’ll Love Him Very people-oriented and affectionate Smart, athletic, and engaging Fully potty and crate trained Sleeps through the night Big personality with lots of love to give Monologue is looking for a home that understands young, energetic working-breed mixes and is ready to give him the structure and outlets he needs. In return, he’ll be a loyal, fun-loving companion who brings energy and affection into your life. Adoption Day: January 24th at PetSmart Tysons Corner from 10:00–11:00 AM, an approved adopter must be present to adopt. Pets may be adopted prior to this date with an approved adopter. Some pups may stick around until 11:00 AM for the public event—check our Facebook page closer to the date to see if this pup will be attending the extra fun!  ##2305551##

Story
To learn more about Snowdrop, please get in touch with dogs@lostdogrescue.org Snowdrop is a sweet, gentle girl who is still learning that the world can be a safe place. She does wonderfully with people and calmly asks for pets. In her 3 years, she has a hard start to her life, but she’s grateful for a second chance at life and desperately seeking a family to love and cherish her and treat her like the queen she is. Her heart is kind and loving, even though fear still holds her back at times. Snowdrop struggles most with new environments and transitions. Leaving her kennel and walking away from familiar places can feel overwhelming, and she may need extra time, patience, and encouragement to move at her own pace. Once outside, she can walk calmly and ignore other dogs and people, focusing on staying close to where she feels secure. Snowdrop would truly benefit from a quiet home where she can decompress, build confidence, and learn that she’s safe. With consistency, kindness, and time, this tender soul has so much potential to blossom. She is ready for a home willing to help her feel safe and loved.

Story
Indigo is a big-hearted sweetheart with an incredibly loving and gentle soul. She is affectionate, eager to please, and thrives on human connection. With kids, she is especially joyful—she loves greeting them and often shows her excitement with wagging tails, happy body language, and sweet kisses. Her playful spirit really shines when she’s outside, where she adores running around the yard, chasing balls, and proudly carrying sticks like little treasures. With adults, Indigo does best with slow, calm introductions. New situations and unfamiliar people can sometimes feel overwhelming for her at first, but once she has time to settle in and build trust, she forms deep, loyal bonds and becomes an incredibly devoted companion. Indigo does well greeting other dogs in public settings, but she would thrive best as the only dog in a household. She enjoys being the center of attention and benefits from having one-on-one time, allowing her to feel secure and confident in her environment!

Story
Meet Bumi.  This gorgeous boy is a Bernese Mountain Dog/Golden Retriever mix, also known as a Golden Mountain Dog. His original family purchased him from a breeder, but our vet believes they were allergic and unable to continue caring for him. Their loss is truly someone else’s gain because Bumi is an AWESOME dog. Bumi is being fostered by Ramya and her family, which includes a 10-year-old son, two large dogs, and three cats, and he does well with everyone. He loves kids and has been fantastic with their son and his friends. With dogs, he’s polite, adaptable, and reads the room well. He’s happy to play with the energetic pup, and respectful with the other dog who prefers space. He’s also good with cats (even though they’re still keeping their distance ). Bumi gets daily walks and has great leash manners; he even knows heel! He meets new people and dogs without issue and handles an active household with ease. Ramya describes him as playful, affectionate, and a total snuggler, but not pushy about attention. He also has excellent house manners: fully housetrained, crate-trained, and even chooses to nap in his crate on his own. Overall, Bumi is a big, sweet, happy-go-lucky boy who would make an amazing family dog.   NOTE: Bumi will be coming to town on 12/6 and is going to a foster-to-adopt home. We'll give his foster family a few weeks to assess his fit before we consider other adopters.   BEED ESTIMATE: Bernise Mountain Dog/Retriever Mix - Golden Mountain Dog GENDER: Male APPROXIMATE WEIGHT: 89 bs APPROXIMATE AGE: ~3.5 years old COAT TYPE:  Medium wavy coat ADOPTION FEE: $425 OTHER INFO: UTD on shots/neutered/microchipped LOCATION: Columbia, SC   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application. You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes. If you think you might be interested in becoming a foster and want to learn more, please go to https://foster.worthydog.org and fill out an application. Worthy Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue that primarily adopts to families in the DC Metro area. December 26, 2025, 8:38 pm
