Story
Doll and Duchess are bonded sisters. They are super sweet and gentle dogs who are very self-sufficient but need land to run and play. By self-sufficient, I mean they have access to food and water all day long but do not over eat. They currently live on a farm with goats, cats, and other dogs and do great with all of them. When the weather is appropriate for them to stay outside, you can leave them out while you go out of town for a couple days and they will be fine with shelter, a tub of food and water. They are gentle with our 1.5 year old, don't jump on him, just lots of kisses, they know sit and come. They may need a little time to warm up to other dogs but are not aggressive, may just coward at your feet for a day or two at first. Doll loves to come inside at night and cuddle all the humans, if allowed. Duchess prefers to be loved on outside where she can stay cool and run. They were rough rescues but are in perfect health now and looking for a furever home.

Story
Approximate Age: 7 years old Approximate Weight: 56lbs Meet Francis, the dog who lives up to his nickname - "Fancy Pants Francis." This 7ish-year-old gentleman is known for his overall chill demeanor, but don't be surprised if you catch him doing tornado spins while joyfully tossing his toys in the air because even a refined man such as himself needs to have some fun from time to time. Francis is very friendly with other dogs (and cats!) but, for the most part, walks past them with his nose in the air, because they should be so honored to be in his presence! Francis is currently in search of a nice and quiet home where he can feel comfortable. He is the perfect combination of independence and affection, often finding his way onto your lap for a few minutes of snuggles. It's important to be aware that Francis exhibits protective tendencies at home. He has bitten people in the past when they have entered his space, so it’s best for him to be crated when guests visit. Outside the home, he is friendly with strangers. Francis thinks he's a canine traffic cop. Cars and bikes that whiz by are a potential menace to his neighborhood. A stern 'Leave it, Francis!' usually brings him back to reality (and his doggy bed). If you are a patient and understanding adopter, Fancy Pants Francis would be thrilled to become a part of your family. He promises to bring joy, snuggles, and plenty of memorable moments to your life. Mixed mutt! ODHS does not breed label (unless there's official paperwork), as studies show it is nearly impossible to tell the exact breed of each dog based off of their appearance. Adoption donations are to be made via cash, or credit/debit card. There is a $5 fee to run cards. We do not accept checks. Please remember to bring a martingale collar and leash (non-retractable) with you the day of the adoption. Adoption events are held Wednesdays 5-7pm, Fridays 6-8pm, and Saturdays 12-3pm. Our adoption center is located at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. It's important that you keep an eye on your emails for any changes or updates during the adoption process.
