Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Gorgeous Blue, how could this girl be a stray!  Blue has been with her foster now for a long time and has been working hard. She is more than ready for her forever home. She is completely house trained! She LOVES to give hugs and is the best cuddler!!  Blue can play fetch ALL DAY LONG!! She has the softest fur, she's plush like the best stuffed animal ever!! We know she does not like to be alone so this sweet girl would like a family where someone is home most of the time, or another quiet friendly dog to be her companion. Blue is not a fan of small dogs and is selective with big ones so she will need to meet any doggy family she will potentially live with first!  Blue has been working with and is being fostered by Puppies for Patriots in MT   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 2, 2024, 4:39 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Willow  has had a rough few years. Health issues have had this girl being a frequent visitor to the vet. We were contacted about this sweet girl and that her family was not able to afford her care and were considering euthanasia. Over the past several months and a couple of procedures, Willow is feeling good!! And now it’s time to find her a new home.  Willow had spent her life outside with a female ST Bernard. She prefers to be in charge but the two of them had gotten along well together.  She had been an outside dog but after months in her foster home Willow is now happy being an inside girl. This is what her foster mom says about her.... I'm looking for a family with lots of compassion and love to give. Most of my life was spent in a barn with little to no outside stimuli. My previous owners also debarked me. I still bark but it's very muted. That's why my foster home has been the perfect place for me to adjust as I have introduced to home life and lots of everyday stimuli but certain things still scare me. Mt temp family has also tried to help me gain my confidence with my muted way of communication by praising me for protecting the house when I bark! I love to be outside, it's sometimes hard to coax me in so my family can leave. I'd probably do amazing with free access in or out of the house with a secure yard a nd a dog door. I've never tried to fence jump or escape my yard. I love to play outside with myself and I love the snow! Don't waste time buying me toys because I snuff my nose at them, I prefer to be chased and played with in the yard with my humans. I grew up with another dog with my previous family and have played with neighbor dogs through the fence, I've been around cats and they don't seem to affect me at all but slow intros would be needed as I've lived in a home with no cats or dogs for several months now. I can be selective with dogs so slow intros are a must and I should pre-meet any pups living in your home to ensure compatibility and success. I take some time to warm up to new people and a longer period of time to warm up to men. Most of all, I love being with my people! I love attention and I'll nose nudge for pets and scratches. Belly rubs, pets, and treats are my favorite things. I am the best protector and love bug you'll ever meet. I love my snuffle mat and licky mat when I'm over stimulated by the garbage man or thunder, that stuff scares me and sometimes I need distracting stimuli to calm me down. Most of my time is spent napping, I'm fully house trained, I know command such as sit, down, place. However, I'm a typical Pyr and the word "come" seems to be a word I choose not to hear. I am fine being left unattended. I'd be a beautiful addition to any home, I'm an overall sweetheart. Willow is being fostered in Utah.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 2, 2024, 4:39 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Jeannette and her sister Margot were dumped in Brigham City Utah. Taken to the shelter after having several days of sight seeing, they are now in a foster home in WA. Jeannette is an absolute love, she does well with other dogs but she can take several weeks to settle in. In her foster home it took her over a month to decide the other dogs were ok to play with and it was a good place to stay. For that reason Jeannette really needs 6ft vinyl fencing, since she has been known to be a bit of an escape artist! She will chase cats and chickens but could potentially be trained not to. What Jeannette loves is people!! She's always there to give hugs and kisses! Her ideal life would be acreage, tall fences, and a family. Another dog would be a bonus for her but is not absolutely necessary. Please apply for this love if you can give her the wonderful life she deserves. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 2, 2024, 4:39 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sheba is guessed to be around 6 years old. She absolutely adores people and can’t get enough attention!  She’s good with other dogs who are submissive and give her space. She encountered kittens and paid them no attention. She also doesn't understand her size so small animals should steer clear.  She is a certified fence jumper! She can clear a 6' vinyl fence! What an athlete, this girl is! Not to worry, she can easily be walked on a leash or put out on a zipline as long as she isn't left alone. She is a good girl in the home alone if you need to run errands! She has been bounced around from home to home and in and out of shelters where she shuts down. We found her a temporary foster with moments left to get her safe and now she desperately needs a forever family! This girl can't seem to catch a break and she needs her very own HERO! Are you going to be that HERO for her?    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 2, 2024, 4:39 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Timber and her sister Kuiu(Mia) were found as strays after they'd been on a waiting list to surrender to the shelter. Not sure what happened to them but a foster stepped up and they found themselves in rescue!  Timber is very sweet and gets along well with all doggos! She loves people and cannot get enough attention.  So far she has not been inside a house and has done well at alerting to new people on the property or to let you know something isn't right. She is not an actual LGD and is definitely not safe around chickens!  Timber as of now would do best as a people guardian who can come and go in and out of a house as she pleases, on a large yard with secure fencing. She's being fostered in Utah with her sister.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 2, 2024, 4:39 pm

Story
Who says good things come in small packages? Sometimes they come in big, furry bodies with eyes that will melt your heart. My name is Andre. I am a 5 year old 85 lb. teddy bear, and my goal in life is to snuggle all the people and collect all the treats. I may be a Pyrenees mix or just a mix of a bunch of adorableness.I'm desperately searching for a family who needs a pup willing to walk with them, play with them, protect them, and snuggle the loneliness out of them. I am a super smart guy who would love to learn more than basic commands (I know sit, touch and down). I need to learn the nuances of living in a house with my beloved humans. I'd make an amazing emotional support pup because I almost NEED to be around my humans. I mean, what happens if they need a snuggle and I'm not around? I'd do best in a house with a fence, and I would probably struggle with small children because I'm a bit pushy when snuggles and treats are involved. (Of course, training would also address this!) I'd love another big dog who enjoys wrestling and playing tug. I'm confident, affectionate and really fond of people. If you think you might have room in your home - and your heart - for a big sweetie like me, let's meet!Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. Story
Looking for a vigilant guardian & mellow polar bear to join your pack? Look no further! Apollo is approx. 1.5-2 years old & has had a rough start to life. He needs stability, routine & deserves to find his happily ever after! Originally, he was found as a stray covered in ticks, wounds, severely matted & in rough shape. He was adopted from the Clovis, NM shelter end of June 2023 & spent his time with a couple who decided they needed to re-home him for personal reasons. Apollo successfully lived with a cat & a chihuahua at their home. When Apollo got off transport he was terrified of stairs & had to be carried up and down them. Now, he will go up and down stairs, as long as there are minimal steps. He still refuses to go down our stairs into our basement. This dog has made leaps & bounds since arriving to the 801 in November. When he first got off transport, he refused to come inside the house at all. He still had his feral mentality & was learning to trust people again. Now, Apollo is the ideal house guest. Overall, he has mellow energy with spurts of playfulness. He can free roam without any accidents & is trustworthy when left alone in the home. He takes treats gently, gives the softest most tender kisses & adores playing with his 2 foster dog siblings. True to his breed, he is handsy when playing with dogs & does bark at anything outside (birds, dogs, squirrels, passerby's). He prefers to eat outside alone. Apollo is truly a sensitive, gentle giant. He is a perfect gentleman on the leash & does well with other dogs at fully fenced in dog parks. Apollo needs consistency with training to help learn basic commands, as he has had no formal training. He is working on recall so can't be off leash yet. Ideal home:Must have another young playful confident pup to show him the ropes. He's a dogs dog! Main level living home with minimal stairs to the outside, and a home with an open floor plan (confined spaces freak him out, he used to dart through doors and hallways but he's gotten much better). He is a big boy & needs space to feel comfortable.A big secure backyard to explore or a secure ranch/farm would be great too!Moderate exercise needed about 45 minutes per day, if you're looking for a highly active dog, this one's not for you. Because of their thick double coats Great Pyrenees can overheat fairly easily, so it's best to not exercise them in sweltering temperatures, and be sure to give them access to fresh water at all times.A family familiar with the breed, understands their personality traits & their needs. His breed shines through his personality. He loves spending time outside, protecting the 'flock'. He is stubborn at times and can be indifferent. He is vocal at any sign of life or noise. A family that understands Pyrenees are prone to bloat, so they must be fed in a raised feeder and shouldn't be fed directly before or after exercise. Feeding multiple small meals a day can also help prevent bloat. A family that understands & is prepared to deal with future potential joint issues large breed dogs are prone to (ex. hip dysplasia and elbow dysplasia). If you think Apollo would be a good fit for your family, please fill out an adoption application at caws.org and schedule a time to do a meet and greet. Story
REPORTED BY FORMER OWNER: Phoebe is an inside dog that is good being left alone for up to 8 hours per day. She is house trained, using a doggy door, and walks well on the leash. She knows the sit and shake commands and sometimes struggles with the stay command. She has nipped the 8-year-old child and the mother, but did not draw blood. She gets along well with the cat in the home. She’s friendly toward people and could live with older, dog-savvy, teen-aged children. She’s very sweet, just needs a home with older children, cats and/or submissive dogs. OBSERVED BY SHELTER STAFF: Phoebe was surrendered to us because she got in a fight with the other dog in the home and started growling at the 8-year-old child. The fight with the other dog required it to get stitches in its ear. Phoebe struggles with dominant dogs; she may do okay with a submissive dog; a meet and greet is recommended if you have another dog. Phoebe is otherwise a very sweet girl that loves attention and is very smart. If you’ll let her, she’ll give you a hug!Weighs 45 pounds; $25 to adopt.
