Story
Meet Zara — a sweet, playful Pyrenees mix with a gentle and submissive personality. This girl is the perfect combination of fun-loving adventure buddy and cuddly companion. Zara has a moderate energy level with adorable bursts of excitement, especially when it comes to her favorite activities: fetch, tug-of-war, chasing balls, carrying sticks, and playing outside. If you throw a toy for her once, be prepared because she’ll happily bring it back 100 more times!Zara is both potty trained and kennel trained, making her an easy addition to a home. She gets along well with other dogs and has shown no issues with guarding toys or food. She comfortably eats in her crate and has done great sharing space and toys with other pups. She’s also non-reactive on leash, not fearful, and has shown no aggression at all.She previously lived with children ages 5 and 7 and did wonderfully with them. Because she’s still a little mouthy when playing with toys, she may be best suited for a home with slightly older kiddos who can help continue her good manners. While Zara enjoys being close to her people and may follow you from room to room, she does not show signs of separation anxiety. She’s simply a loyal girl who loves companionship as much as she loves playtime. If you’re looking for a happy, affectionate dog who’s always ready for a game of fetch and then a cuddle on the couch, Zara may be your perfect match.Zara is currently in a loving foster home in the Houston, Texas area. She is able to travel out of state and we can typically arrange transportation. Adoption application: https://www.this-is-houston.org/adopt/adopt-application

Story
Meet Casper – Your Loyal, Fluffy Shadow 🤍 Check out his video here : https://vimeo.com/1180038751?share=copy&fl=sv&fe=ci Casper is a 3-year-old Great Pyrenees mix with a big heart and an even bigger love for his people. Weighing in at around 70 lbs, this handsome boy is the definition of a “velcro dog”—wherever you go, Casper will be right by your side, happily soaking up your company. Casper is friendly, playful, and full of joyful energy. He loves to have fun and would thrive in an active, outdoorsy home where he can stretch his legs and share adventures with his humans. While he has plenty of enthusiasm, he’s still learning when it’s time to wind down, so he’ll benefit from a family who can help guide him with structure and exercise. Despite a difficult start in life—having spent his first three years in severe neglect—Casper’s spirit remains beautifully intact. He overcame ear infections and he is congenitally blind in one eye, but none of that dimmed his happiness or his ability to love. He is truly a resilient, sunshine-filled soul who greets life with a wagging tail and an open heart. Casper is leash trained, crate trained, and very food motivated, which makes continued training a rewarding experience. He is wonderful with dogs, cats, and children, and is currently living peacefully with all three in his foster home. Casper is 2 years old and weighs about 65 lbs. He is fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and kept on heartworm and flea prevention, Casper is ready to find his forever family. He is currently being fostered in Houston, TX, but can travel to the perfect home—even as far as Canada. If you’re looking for a devoted companion, an adventure buddy, and a cuddle partner all in one, Casper is your guy. 💛 His adoption fee includes all his shots (DAPP, Rabies, Bordetella) as well as heartworm test, monthly heartworm and flea preventatives, neuter surgery, microchip, and deworming schedule. Yards, if any, MUST BE adequately and fully fenced to adopt our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences. To meet this sweet pup via facetime or whatsapp or other video chat apps, please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com Our dogs are fully assessed by foster parents, vets and behaviorists, as well as videos and video chats are available to observe their manners in public. We are extremely transparent and like to share everything negative and positive with the adopters, to ensure it's a good fit and they are not returned to us, as the trips are very stressful on them. If, after meeting a pup, the foster parent or the adoption applicant do not feel they are a good fit for each other, we often offer other pups who are better fit. Houston is home to million strays, many who are abandoned, many born on the streets, many who escaped while living in the yard, which is common in Texas. Since our rescue does not get grants that shelters get, we use adoption fee to help the pups and kitties in our care. Your adoption fee goes towards vetting and feeding our long term and permanent fosters, and unadoptable pups, as well as towards the monthly care and preventatives etc of our pets. By adopting one pup from our rescue, you make room for another dog to be rescued from our high kill shelter, thus becoming an integral part of our mission to save as many unfortunate dogs off the streets and shelters as possible. So Thank You for choosing to rescue, and not go to a breeder.

Story
This is Gracie. She is a beautiful, sweet, loving girl. She has had a rough start to her life, she spent the first 4/5 living in Alvin on the streets. She had many litters unfortunately due to no one taking care of her. I took her in and helped her have one last pregnancy. She is now fixed, and very happy and healthy. She is the most loyal dog I have ever met. She loves kids and plays well with other dogs. Her tail has a mind of its own and she is an excellent companion. This is hard for me to do. The reason I’m rehoming her is because we got chickens in our forever home and unfortunately she decided to “play” a little too rough and 10 out of 16 chickens died. She has a lot of curiosity when it comes to small animals such as chickens and bunnies. I do not recommend she lives in a home or with someone who might want these things. Up until that point we never had an issue. I just want her to go to a good home. She deserves a good life.
