I came from the streets of New Braunfels, but now I’m ready to leave my past behind and focus on what matters most—being your loyal companion. I’m one of the sweetest dogs you’ll ever meet (at least that’s what everyone tells me!). All I really want is to be close to you, whether it’s snuggling on the couch or following you around on your daily adventures. Hussar, a male Pyrenees mix not quite a year old, boasts a wonderfully easy-going nature. Rescued from a neglectful and abusive situation where he was constantly chained outdoors, he's now seeking a forever home to provide the love and care he needs to thrive as the sweet and joyful dog he truly is. He's currently in a foster home with two other large dogs and gets along great! His experience with cats is limited, so he hasn't been tested around them. Hussar is both playful and calm with children, having aced the lively 5-year-old test! He revels in playtime, adores affection, and enjoys spending time in the yard, now free from chains. He has a fondness for women but remains slightly wary and cautious around men due to his past. Fed separately due to a bit of treat-envy, he's nonetheless an excellent companion for other dogs. Gus is a food-motivated, trainable dog. He loves to be outside and does great in a fenced yard. He likes long naps on his inside bed. He gets along with the outside cats and chickens but has a strong chase instinct. When he reaches the animal, he licks them or looks for approval in reaching the animal but is never aggressive and has never bitten or tried to eat or harm the other pet. He's a very good boy. Gus doesn't play catch, and he won't retrieve, but he loves to sniff everything and eat sticks. He will destroy soft toys in short order! He walks well on a leash. Basically, he is a perfect companion. Gus likes to play with other dogs in neutral territory. He's defensive of his home, meaning he will bark when a car pulls up, and is submissive when taken to another dog's home. Gus will be 3 years old in March. We need to rehome him because we are moving and will be in a small RV without access to a yard. That's no life for a big dog.
