- **Name**: Oakley - **Age**: 2 years old - **Breed**: Great Pyrenees - **Gender**: Male   **About Oakley**:   Oakley is a stunning 2-year-old Great Pyrenees with a regal appearance and a calm, laid-back personality. He was rescued after being found roaming the neighborhood, as his previous owners didn’t have a fence to contain him. This gorgeous boy has a beautiful, strong head that makes him quite the head-turner. Oakley’s gentle demeanor and love for people and other animals make him an ideal companion for any household.   **Special Notes**:   Oakley’s chill personality is one of his standout traits. He doesn’t get excited about much, preferring to take life in stride and enjoy the company of those around him. He’ll fit in well with a family that appreciates his relaxed nature and is ready to provide him with a secure, loving environment where he can feel safe and at home.   **Ideal Home**:   Oakley would thrive in a home with a secure, fenced yard where he can safely explore and relax. His new family should be loving and attentive, as Oakley enjoys human companionship and gets along well with other animals. His laid-back attitude makes him an easygoing addition to any home, whether you have other pets or children.   **Why Adopt Oakley**:   Adopting Oakley means welcoming a calm, gentle giant into your life. His stunning looks and even-tempered personality make him a perfect fit for families looking for a loyal, loving companion. Oakley’s journey from roaming the neighborhood to finding a forever home could end with you, and in return, you’ll gain a devoted and affectionate friend for life.   ~Although we do our very best to make sure your new pup is in tiptop health before adoption, things could drastically change a month later.  Since we don’t have a long health history of your adopted dog, we can only treat the pet for whatever symptoms present during the initial exam. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Carson!  This handsome lovebug is obsessed with people and he is so happy!  Born around November 2021, he weighs around 85 pounds and has the most adorable freckles sprinkled on his muzzle. Sweet Carson loves everyone and wants to be as close to you as possible.  He loves to gently give you his paw and sweetly give you kisses.  He’s a Velcro dog!  He might even climb in your lap if you allow it. Prior to coming to SPIN, Carson was running as a stray and had been hit by a car.  His back leg was broken and had to be amputated.  He is all healed now and walks great on his three remaining legs. Carson gets along great with other dogs.  He likes to “pet” the dogs in his foster home!  He’ll sit next to them, pat them on the head with his paw (pat, pat, pat), then switch to his other paw and give them more gentle pats.  So sweet! He loves to be brushed!  When you use the undercoat grooming rake on him, he will lay there and roll around so you can get every nook and cranny! He could live in a multi-dog household or as your one-and-only best dog.  He is slightly playful, and occasionally enjoys picking up a toy.  His happiest place is with people. Sweet Carson is totally house trained.  He has no need for a crate.  He rides well in a car.  He doesn’t bark much. Carson will do best in a one-story home, so he doesn’t have to negotiate many stairs.  Children in the home should be old enough to understand that they shouldn’t lean on him, knocking him off balance. Carson is so joyful, he will have you smiling every time you look at him. SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Adoption fees are $300 for dogs under 1 year old, $250 for dogs 1-7 years old, $200 for dogs over 7 years old. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Juniper!  Born around February 2022, she is a sweet, happy girl who we rescued from a local shelter.  She is on the small side around 50 pounds.  Her DNA test revealed that she is 51% Great Pyrenees and 24% Australian Cattle Dog. Juniper is as cute as can be with her alert little ears and a spattering of freckles across her muzzle. She loves to play and run, especially with doggy friends. Juniper absolutely adores puppies!  She has a blast playing with them and is cautious not to hurt them.  She mostly performs a lot of play bows, boops them with her nose, and jovially scampers away with their toys. She takes a little more time warming up to new adult dogs, but her playfulness is so contagious that even the senior Pyr in her foster home joins her for romps in the yard. She would love to have at least one playful doggy companion in her forever home. Juniper is great with children but due to her puppy playfulness, she would be best with children over five years old. She loves going for trips in the car and loads up easily.  She has so much fun looking out the window and settles down for petting along the way. She is fully house trained, and she is great on leash.  She is crate trained, but has no need for one. She is food motivated, an enthusiastic eater, and takes her treats gently. She wants to work hard for treats, so she is a quick study for learning new commands and tricks. Juniper needs a family who will include her in their adventures.  She needs enough exercise and mental stimulation to meet her energy level and help her tap into the more relaxed Great Pyrenees side of her genetic makeup. SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Adoption fees are $300 for dogs under 1 year old, $250 for dogs 1-7 years old, $200 for dogs over 7 years old. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Chester!  Born around January 2023, this endearing boy weighs about 55 pounds, putting him firmly in “pocket Pyr” territory. He was found lounging on a road, then taken to a shelter where he was never reclaimed.  We happily welcomed him to SPIN! Chester is one of a kind, just like Tigger from Winnie the Pooh. Like Tigger, he is very “bouncy!” He likes to jump and play, and is very sweet to his people.  Because he is so very exuberant, he sometimes jumps or bumps into you, so he might not be best placed with small children or anyone who can be pushed off balance. He is the best boy when at the veterinarian where everyone falls in love with him as he sweetly allows the poking, prodding, shots, and nail trims. Chester loves being with other dogs.  He and his furry foster siblings play together in the back yard for hours, eat together, then cuddle together. He also likes to fetch, a very uncommon trait in a Pyrenees. He is very food motivated, and is more trainable than the average Pyr.  He quickly learned sit and kennel training. SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Adoption fees are $300 for dogs under 1 year old, $250 for dogs 1-7 years old, $200 for dogs over 7 years old. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Rocky!  This loveable boy was born around January 2022.  Fully grown at 75 pounds, he appears to be mostly Great Pyrenees mixed with a smaller, leaner breed. While shy around new people, once he bonds with you, he loves having your attention.  He follows you everywhere, and tries his best to be a lap dog!  He does well with kids and allows them to approach him for petting. Rocky does great meeting new dogs.  After they get acquainted, he loves playing with them and being close.  He might do best with big dogs, since he sometimes plays a little rough.  He eases up if he sees that other dog doesn’t like it. He is leash trained and loves going for walks.  He is great in dog parks, too. Rocky is fully house trained. He has no need for a crate and can hurt himself when confined to one because he does his best to escape it. Rocky doesn’t bark very much.  Rather than bark at things that make him uncomfortable, he prefers to avoid. He does well in the car.  After he happily jumps in, he wants to get right up front with you. With his low-to-moderate amount of energy, he could probably tolerate an apartment setting if he gets long daily walks and/or has a canine buddy to play with throughout the day. Rocky wants to find his forever person and never leave their side.  If he initially has separation anxiety, that will improve as he gets comfortable in his new home. SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Adoption fees are $300 for dogs under 1 year old, $250 for dogs 1-7 years old, $200 for dogs over 7 years old. Story
I'm Apollo. Yes, I am a handsome boy but I don't let that go to my head. I am friendly with everyone I meet. And it seems I can cause quite a stir. I really enjoy my foster family who plays ball with me which is my most favorite game!. I don't like being left alone for long periods. But I do great when I am left with a confident fur sibling once I've had a chance to get used to my surroundings. I am a good house guest with hardly any barking and no accidents. I'm still working on my crate training and leash walking skills. If you are ready for big furry snuggles,  just let them know at TMHPR if you want to meet me for yourself! I'll be waiting!    ##1787337##

Meet Wilma! Wilma is a stunning Great Pyrenees mix. She is under a year old and currently 58 lbs. She came into our rescue with Flint and Daphne after being dumped off a country road left to survive on their own.   Wilma is learning what the good life is all about and slowing coming out of her shell. She loves to collect toys and loves to play with her foster siblings. She is doing an amazing job leash walking but she is cautious of surrounding noises. Practice makes perfect and each walk she gets more comfortable.   Wilma would do best in a home with another dog to lead the way and someone who is home more than not. To meet Wilma in person visit us at www.dsda.org/adopt and submit our online adoption application.  * Adoption Fees: Puppies (12 months and under) - $325  Dogs (over 12 months) - $275  Qualifications for Adoption:  No dog is alike and each dog has different requirements based on breed, age, energy level and life experiences. Story
Archie is a 2 year old adorable Great Pyrenees. He's living in a busy foster home with other dogs, bigger and smaller, and teens. He's a sweet natured boy who loves life. Great with all people and dogs. Archie suffered a jaw injury when he was tossed from a moving vehicle before we fohnd him.   He's had surgery for that and doing great!  He developed a limp related to a prior fracture above his right wrist. Our orthopedic surgeon specializing in this type of injury  recommended repair so Archie's leg could be saved.  This was completed in early 2023.  He will never be a runner but he is your typical Pyrenees-Sweet and loving!  To meet Archie and see if he is the pup for you please go to www.dsda.org/adopt and submit our online application.
