Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sweet Bolt is still patiently waiting for his forever home.  Bolt came into rescue after being taken to a shelter by a family that said he had grown to be "too big".  While in rescue, he was caught in a weird matrix around Covid and post Covid and hardly received any applications. And for some reason we couldn’t secure a foster for him-until now.  Bolt has been in boarding all this time and although the people there took such great care of him, he much deserves his forever home.  He’s a sweet guy, he loves people and wants to follow his foster mom everywhere!  His foster mom is just getting to know him, but so far he’s a polite guest, not at all destructive, and asks to go outside when he needs to do his business.  He seems very smart and alert!  He’s quite a counter surfer but so far has only secured paper towels that he loves to shred.  He can get excited when meeting new people and greet them with hugs but settles down quickly. He’s being slowly tested with other dogs and cats as he gets comfortable in his new home.  He has DNA pending and we’ll update that when we know! Bolt is currently in Tacoma, WA and can be transported within OR-WA. All our dogs require secure VISIBLE fencing. All current pets in adoptive home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccinations.  Adoption Fee: $175 All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. Transport Fee: $350 Transport fee includes the cost of transport plus the Health Certificate required for USDA approved transport. Adoption applications can be found on our website: www.greatpyrsandpaws.org https://greatpyrsandpaws.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5959   Northwest adopter pays cost of transport to independent transport company.  Transport is arranged by GPPR.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 6, 2024, 10:32 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  Meet Miles! Miles is a handsome guy who was rescued from the streets as a young puppy. Miles is about 80 pounds and is a healthy, happy dog. Miles gets along with everyone, cats included. His crate is his safe space, and he eats and sleeps well and with no issues. Sometimes he goes to his crate to decompress when the house gets a little loud. He loves to jump on the trampoline He uses a chair to climb up and jump with the kids. He is good with kids. He does counter surf but has gotten much better and "down" is all it takes to remind him of his manners. He would love to be someone's snuggle buddy. He would be okay even with someone elderly- he is very chill. Miles is currently in Texas but can be on the next transport! Adoption Fee: $275 All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on age appropriate vaccinations.  We do not adopt to families with children under the age of 6. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Here’s Della!  Della is mom of the “Perry Mason” litter from the large rescue in the PNW over the summer.  Della is a little over a year old and came from a difficult environment.  She is a sweet girl who deserves a better life.  Just a baby herself, she is looking for a foster or adopter willing to put in the time to show her how a dog’s life can be with a loving family.  She is a beautiful girl who will play hard to get while she’s trying to figure out if she can trust you or not, so kindness, consistency and a calm and loving environment will go a long way.  She has shown ZERO aggression and will panic a little if she feels unsafe and it’s understandable for what she’s been through.  She was SUCH a good mama taking care of her puppies, most have been adopted.  She will need help with all the things, feeling safe, leash walking, riding in a car and learning how to play and be a dog.  Do you have the heart and environment for Della?  She deserves so much more and we are so hopeful she will find her forever.  Is it you?   Pyrenees experience as well as shy-dog experience necessary for this sweet & quirky girl! All our dogs require secure VISIBLE fencing. All current pets in adoptive home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccinations.  We do not adopt to families with children under the age of 6.  Adoption Fee: $275 All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Birch!  Birch came into rescue when a tragic accident suddenly took his owner.  His mom was well known in the small community of Shelton, WA, and the residents rallied to get him somewhere safe after her passing.  Birch is a 2-year old Pyrenees-Border Collie mix and still full of puppy energy!  He is a very active, loves attention, is very sweet and affectionate, and he LOVES to give kisses!  Birch is a very strong and active boy who will benefit from physical and mental stimulation as well as some basic training. He is very playful and loves to wrestle and be chased. He does best with female dogs and would like to be the only king of the household.  He would prefer a home without cats.  Birch is being fostered in Shelton, WA and can be transported within WA and OR. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Cabo is a 5-year-old male Pyrenees mix weighing around 98lbs.  Cabo was dumped at the shelter by his owner, injured and in rough shape. He was left at the shelter to die and thank goodness rescue came to his aid and saved his life.  He has done well in his fosters home.  He is not destructive inside or outside of the home and is not a digger. He is house trained, and crate trained. He does patrol the yard and will bark at strangers.  Due to the trauma he suffered with his previous owner, he will need to be an only dog in his home and doggie parks are not a good idea for sweet Cabo. Cats are unknown but doubtful. Cabo is very sweet to people males, females, and children that know how to behave with dogs.    Once he trusts you, he does wonderful!  He likes all kinds of goodies, treats, food of all sorts.  His ideal home would be that he is the only dog.  He could be with a family if the kids are sweet and gentle, a couple, or a single person.  He is not much of a hiker or runner but walks would be sufficient.  Must have an intact fenced yard as he will roam if no fence or holes in your fence.  He is not off leash trained.  He is trained for sit, come, heel for leash walking, off for not jumping on his humans, and “nice” or “gentle” for taking treats.  He sleeps in his crate at night and is not anxious with car rides. He is such a super great dog and has come so far; he needs his forever home for this big guy that is very loving to his humans.  Could that be you???? Cabo is currently being fostered in the DFW area but can be on the next PNW transport.
Jasper is a calm, happy puppy that enjoys an easy life.  He's house and crate trained, but he has graduated to only being crated when his foster mom leaves the house for long periods of time.   He loves his two foster dog siblings and his foster cat; although, he likes to give the cat a good chase occasionally to make sure she's getting enough exercise. If he catches up to her, he gives her a juicy lick to the top of her head.  Jasper is excited to meet new people.  He's affectionate to everyone. He loves to chew.  His new home needs to be equipped with chew toys aplenty.  He also likes to dig.  He has his own garden at his foster home.   Whoever adopts this sweet boy will be the luckiest dog parent ever!  Jasper is currently in Texas, but he can be on the next transport to the PNW.      OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR PUPPY ADOPTION: 1) PUPPIES WILL ONLY BE PLACED IN HOMES THAT HAVE AT LEAST ONE MEDIUM TO LARGE YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL RESIDENT DOG that is age 1 or older. This helps integrate the dog into your household easier by giving the pup a mentor. 2) These puppies can be livestock dogs to farms and homesteads experienced in training LGDs. They also must be family pets that are allowed inside the home. 3) In addition to the youthful playful dog, someone must also be home at least part of the day. Please do not apply for a puppy if you are gone 8+ hours a day. 4) We give preference to applicants with prior Great Pyrenees knowledge/experience. 5) Secure and visible fencing required. 6) You must have a plan in place to socialize your puppy properly. Adoption Fee: $375 All of our puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on age appropriate vaccinations.  We do not adopt to families with children under the age of 6. Story
Lucy was a rescue. She is part Great Pyrenees, but do not know the other breed. She was born in January 2024 and we adopted her in March 2024. Currently 8 Months old. She is very sweet and loving to our family, however, she has severe anxiety. She is not aggressive, and has not bitten or nipped - but she can get over-excited or have spontaneous behavior, which is causing an issue with two very young children getting knocked over or stepped on. She has a prescription for an anti-anxiety medication, and needs someone who will have the time to help her rehabilitate and get her anxiety under control. She is currently afraid of going on walks in the street or sidewalk, but will run and play in our fenced backyard. She is kennel trained, potty trained, and knows basic commands. Under guidance from our Vet, with her medication and care Lucy would be a kind and caring addition to your household but we do not currently have the time or ability to care for her the way she deserves.

Story
We call her Almond because of the brown almond shape on her forehead. She is a sweet dog, about 60 lbs, almost 1 year old, and loves to chase and chew her toy (or anything left on the ground.) She is a little dominant towards our smaller dog, but is never aggressive towards him, our cats, or our 3 year old, even when she gets in her face or pulls her hair, etc. We have had success teaching her to sit, stay, wait for food, shake, and she is house-trained. Really, the only downside has been her barking at deer and people walking by the yard or trying to run after deer on walks, although I have made some progress with her. Please reach out if you have any questions about Almond. Willing to drive anywhere around the Austin area.

Story
ATTENTION FARMERS/RANCHERS WHO NEED A GUARDIAN/WORKING DOG: Our dog, Banjo, has become too aggressive towards us in the past 6 months (full disclosure: he has bitten a few times, including a child). We gave him a great, loving home for 2 years, but he is no longer a good fit for us. We really don't want to have to put him down because we believe he needs to be an outside dog on a farm or ranch with no kids around. He was actually born on a farm and probably should have stayed in that type of environment. His birthday is 11/10/22. His mom is a lab, and his dad is great pyrenees. They are both working dogs. He has not been neutered. Please reach out if you think you can take him in!

Story
Bear, or as we call him Bearlito, is a pretty special guy. He is loving and very relaxed. I adopted him from the shelter when his owners lost their farm. He is crate trained and loves to lay in the sun. He is a gentle giant who loves laying with our kiddos and snuggling in bed. He is allergic to chicken so we have him on a fish based food. We are relocating for work and we will be living on a boat. Bear is not a fan of water / swimming. He also needs a solid fenced in yard to be happy. Anyone would be lucky to have Bear as a member of their family.
