Story
Theo is a gentle giant! He can be timid at first but once he gets comfortable, he’s attached to your hip. He loves to cuddle and play often. He definitely thinks he is a lapdog! He plays well with other dogs and has done great around his faster family's toddler. He does well on a leash. He is still working on kennel training but does better each week. He still does best with several potty trips a day outside. He can be clumsy and needs reminders to slow down when going down the stairs. He loves to be the center of attention, loves treats, and loves to be petted.  If you are interested in him, please send an email to scpdogworld@gmail.com to get more information on how to fill out an application and have a great meet and greet to see if you are a match made in heaven.  Adopter for this dog must reside in the immediate Houston/Galveston area and be at least 25 years old. A home visit may be required prior to this dog going to any home. The adoption fee for a dog is $190 (or $245 for puppies) which includes State of Texas sales tax. All dogs are microchipped, on heartworm protection, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and treated for fleas. Adoptions are held on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Clear Lake Petco, 2410 Bay Area Boulevard. All dogs are microchipped, on heartworm protection, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and treated for fleas. Since all our dogs are in foster homes, an individual dog may not be at our weekly Adoption Event due to conflict with a foster's schedule. If you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please send an email to scpdogworld@gmail.com so that the Dog Coordinator can let you know if the dog will be at the Saturday Adoption Event at Petco. If you just want to meet some great dogs looking for their forever home, please come visit with us on Saturday!    November 3, 2024, 11:08 am

Story
Sweet “Benny” is now AVAILABLE for ADOPTION! This precious boy had been through so much, was dumped, was hit by a car, had a broken leg, emaciated, these were just a few aliments Benny had. He has been living comfortably in a foster home recovering and is now ready for a home of his own! Benny is extremely gentle and sweet and deserves a chance at a good life. He is about 6 years old and weighs 100 pounds. He walks well on a leash and does good in the car. He would benefit from a quiet home and being someone’s everything or with a senior female companion. He is housebroken, does great with the groomer and enjoys any attention you would want to give. Benny’s is in Pearland, just outside of Houston. He is neutered, micro-chipped and Heartworm Negative. He is a Great Pyrenees and even more GORGEOUS in person.   Our Dog Application (no obligation and a great start): https://www.forgottenpetadvocates.com/dog-adoption-application/ Benny’s Amazon Wish-List: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2FXGKR3M74WP/ref=nav_wishlist_lists_2  October 21, 2024, 12:19 am

Story
Hannah was saved back in March. Her owners decided one day they didn’t want her anymore, so they locked her out of her yard and replaced her with a new puppy. Hannah’s life continued to get worse from there. While living as an unwanted dog, she was shot at, and the bullet is still in her hip. She was also hit by a car at some point and has some old fractures in her back end that healed incorrectly but are too old to repair. She struggled gaining weight for a while. A vet trip for what we thought was a UTI ended up in her being diagnosed with diabetes. Her diabetes journey has not been easy, and recently resulted in an ER trip for nearing DKA (diabetic ketoacidosis, a life-threatening condition that can occur when blood sugar levels become too high and there is not enough insulin to control them). Fortunately, after having the ER stabilize her and take over her care, she’s been making steady improvements. Hannah is dog & cat friendly. She loves to go on walks, is good on a leash and loves car rides. She fears thunderstorms/fireworks. She wants to be with her human all the time and loves belly rubs. She is more on the dominant side. On occasion she will engage in play with other dogs. She is good using a doggy door except when her numbers are high (frequent urination can be common in diabetic dogs). As far as the bullet and bad hip, you’d never even know that something is wrong. She runs and jumps very well and doesn’t show any signs of pain. Hannah is a very sweet girl that just wants love. She loves to snuggle up on the couch/bed and is also good with children!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Fun playful girlMs Kalei is smart, sweet, and a bit of a goof. Great with other dogs. She is a gentle giant.  She is looking for a home where she has a dog buddy. Kalei is crate trained.   She knows sit and is working on other commands.   Kalei loves adventure and would love nothing more than exploring new walking trails or riding in the car. She is a great dog and will make a fabulous family member. Ms Kalei has not had a lot of luck. She was hit by a car when she was very young and came to the rescue with a broken leg. As soon as her leg was healed, we discovered she had a damaged hip as well.   Kalei has had a hip replacement from the car accident, her broken leg and her hip are both good as new - or bionic! She runs and plays with the rest of the pack.     Kalei is looking for a family that will love her forever!  =========================================================  Please contact app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog. You can apply online by clicking on Application . Puppies that are under 4 months old cannot be adopted outside of our Veterinary Service area. Please call for specific locations. Children under 8 years old often are not a good match for our puppies and dogs. In order to protect both, your child and our rescued dogs/puppies from harm, we seldom if ever adopt to families with young children.  Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet and greet at one of our adoption events. Thank you for considering a rescue! The adoption fee includes vaccinations, Bordetella, de-worming, rabies, spay/neuter and microchip. There is a an additional $12.99 fee for Home Again for a lifetime registration of the microchip. Puppies cannot be adopted outside of the Houston area until they are spay/neutered after they are 4 months old. It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it. NOTE: In our bios, we provide information based on our volunteer's experience with a particular dog; such as temperament, training, and ability to get along with others. AARF is a 501(c)3 Non Profit, all breed, no kill organization. Our group is always in need of donations in order to continue to give the needed medical care to our rescues. Adoption fees do not begin to cover all of the medical costs. Any donation , no matter how small is a big help and is greatly appreciated. Please help us to continue to help them. Thank you.
