Meet Coco the Bachelorette — a big-hearted beauty ready to hand out her final rose! 🌹 Coco is everything you could want in a leading lady — sweet, affectionate, and endlessly loving to everyone she meets. She has a calm, easygoing energy with just the right touch of playfulness. She’ll happily lounge beside you for most of the day, but hand her a toy and she’ll light up with joy. This fluffy Great Pyrenees mix is both house- and crate-trained, intuitive, and smart. She’s good with other dogs and cats, and while she hasn’t met children yet, her gentle, loving nature suggests she’d be wonderful with them too. Coco isn’t high-maintenance when it comes to activity — about an hour of daily exercise keeps her perfectly content. What she really wants most is a cozy home, belly rubs, and someone who appreciates her big heart. Like any great love story, Coco has her quirks: she’s a bit of a foodie (so counters are best kept clear!), and she’s on a special diet and medication to keep her feeling her best. If you’re looking for a calm, cuddly, and charming companion who will fill your home with love and loyalty, Coco the Bachelorette is ready to meet her forever match. 🌸

Story
Say hello to Dewbert — or Dooby, as his foster family lovingly calls him! This big, happy Great Pyrenees is equal parts gentle giant and goofy sidekick. With his soulful eyes, calm presence, and joyful personality, Dooby brings a little sunshine wherever he goes. Since joining his foster family, Dooby’s transformation has been incredible. His coat has healed beautifully, his confidence has blossomed, and he has truly settled into home life. He loves being near his people and has recently shown just how devoted he is by becoming especially protective and nurturing toward the family’s newborn. That loyal streak is one of his sweetest qualities. Because of this strong protective instinct, Dooby would thrive as an only dog in a loving home where he can bond closely with his people. While he has previously enjoyed playing with the family’s resident dog, he recently showed that he prefers not to share his space or his humans with other pets. However, he is a dream when meeting dogs on walks, puppy playtimes, or when going to a fun happy hour with other furry friends. Dooby is also a classic Great Pyrenees through and through, which means a fenced yard is a must. It’s his happy place to explore, sunbathe, and do his signature “patrols.” One of his funniest quirks is his nightly security rounds. He quietly pads through the house 2–3 times a night just to make sure everyone is tucked in safely. It’s impossible not to smile when you catch him taking his job so seriously. He continues to do well with humans of all ages and is wonderfully gentle, affectionate, and steady. His resource guarding is only directed toward other animals, not people, and with a pet-free home, this won’t be a concern day-to-day. With his humans, he is nothing but a big, loving teddy bear who wants to be close and be part of the family. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will adore you, make you laugh, and fill your home with warmth and devotion, Dewbert is your guy. He’s ready to be someone’s one-and-only, and he will absolutely shine in that role.

Story
Cranberry Pie — Sweetness, Resilience, and a Heart Ready to Heal Cranberry Pie is as sweet as her name suggests — a gentle, loving girl who has charmed every person she’s met with her soft eyes and warm, cuddly nature. Volunteers describe her simply as “a very sweet girl,” and it couldn’t be truer. She adores cozy beds, tasty treats, and being close to her people, soaking up love like it’s her favorite comfort food. Even with everything she’s been through, Cranberry Pie’s spirit shines brightly. She’s active, playful, and curious — hopping around, engaging with her surroundings, and enjoying life in her own determined way. She gets around with spunky determination, making every hop and wiggle a part of her joyful personality. Her left front limb has permanent nerve damage, and she’ll need an amputation to keep her comfortable long-term. After surgery, she’s expected to thrive as a confident tripod. Right now, Cranberry Pie needs something special: a foster home where she can rest, recover, and heal after her surgery. A quiet, loving space where she can curl up in a soft bed, be gently cared for, and feel safe as she regains her strength. She gives back tenfold with affection, gratitude, and a calm, gentle presence that melts hearts instantly. If you’ve ever wanted to make a meaningful difference in a dog’s life, Cranberry Pie is your chance. This sweet, resilient girl is ready to fill a foster or forever home with warmth, snuggles, and the softest kind of love.

Story
Meet Clara Bow (aka Bowie)Hi, I’m Clara Bow, but my friends call me Bowie - because I’m full of star power and a little bit of sparkle! I’m a young, happy girl (about 70 lbs) who loves people, other dogs, and pretty much everything about life. I bring sunshine wherever I go.My Favorite ThingsI’m house-trained, love walks, car rides, and playing with my dog friends. I get along great with both dogs and cats (yep, I’m that well-rounded). During the day, I like to explore, play with toys, or hang out with my foster brother. At night, I’ll curl up next to you - I’m a world-class snuggler. My PersonalityI’ve got that fun, goofy, young dog energy, so I’m looking for a family who is able to spend time with me to play. Whether it's with walks, yard time, adventures (bars, coffee shops pet stores, and playing tug-of-war, or another dog, I love living life and exploring. I’m working on my commands and doing great, but I’m young, curious, and sometimes a little “mouthy” when I get excited (never aggressive - just young dog enthusiasm). A patient person that has experience with dogs would be great. I also think I'd be ok with a family that has older kids! I have experience with my foster mom's nieces and nephews who are really young, so that could work too but older kids will be better able to help train me :)My Quirks (aka My Charms)Like any dog who’s had to look out for herself, I really love food. Mealtime is the best part of my day, and sometimes I like to “help” by checking if you’ve dropped anything tasty when you're eating. I’ve also been known to “borrow” things around the house - socks, shoes, pens, you name it - just for fun and to see if they're edible. Everyone needs a hobby, right? What I’m Looking ForI’d love a forever home with someone who:Has experience with dogs is a must! Can spend time playing with meIdeally has another dog friend for me to romp around withPreferably has a house with a yard or works from home if they're in an apartment. Someone who can dedicate the first couple of weeks to making sure I know you're coming back.**I was adopted once before for just a day, but was returned. I got really scared when I found myself alone in a brand new apartment and without my dog friend. I barked a lot because I didn’t understand what was happening. My adopter worked in an office four days a week and lived in an apartment, so they were worried about that. I don't do this with my current family who has a house and a cat/dog, but if adopted I just need someone patient who understands that adjusting takes me a little time, but once I feel at home I become confident. If you’re looking for a loyal, funny, affectionate companion who’ll make every day brighter, I might just be your Bowie! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Bolt is waiting patiently for his forever home! Bolt is a 5 1/2 year old Great Pyrenees-Catahoula leopard dog mix. Bolt is a sweet and loyal companion, enjoys being in the yard when his foster mom gardens, and loves pets and attention. Bolt has a serious side, he barks when he perceives a threat (the UPS truck, mailman, etc) and a silly side, finding all sorts of random things to play with-he’d rather forage something around the house and cares less about dog toys. Bolt is super helpful around the house, he loves to help load the dishwasher, clean off the counters, and helps with the laundry by dragging clothes and towels from the laundry room outside in the rain, lol, he’s all about conservation! His new family should be sturdy as he can get spunky and want to play while doing zoomies around his people. He would love his own person/people to reciprocate his loyalty, someone who likes to relax and also find adventure. If you are looking for your “ride or die” dog, that’s Bolt, he is smart and eager to please. Bolt could get along with a female dog but would prefer to eat alone. Bolt is being fostered in Tacoma, WA and can be transported within WA and OR . All our dogs require secure VISIBLE fencing. All current pets in adoptive home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccinations.  Adoption Fee: $175 All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. Transport Fee: none Transport fee includes the cost of transport plus the Health Certificate required for USDA approved transport. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  A note from Duke:  Hey there, I'm Duke!  A soft, loyal, slightly goofy guy looking for my forever home.  I'm happiest when I get to run, dig cozy holes to nap in, or go on sniffing adventures (my nose leads the way!).  I'm a bit of a climber too-fences don't slow me down much-so I'll need a safe, secure space to keep my exploring paws where they belong. I love food, toys, and finding the squeaker in every toy I meet.  Snacks and playtime are my two favorite things!  I also know basic commands and I'm a really good listener when you talk to me kindly-I'll even roll right over for belly rubs.  I get along great with dogs of all sizes (except one unneutered male who just rubbed me the wrong way) and I'm cat friendly too.  The truth is, I'm a gentle soul.  I get a little scared when voices are raised or there's sudden movement,  so I'd do best with someone who has a calm, patient energy. Leash walks are fun-unless there's something really interesting to smell, then I might tug a bit.  My fur is super soft, but when I get muddy (which I love), the dirt mysteriously ends up on the floor once it dries...can't imagine how that happens?!  Oh, and one more thing, I don't like the color red.  Don't ask me why, I just don't trust it.  If you've got a farm or plenty of room to roam, I'd be the happiest boy by your side.  I've got a big heart, a playful spirit, and I'm ready to love my person forever.  Love, Duke. Duke is in Snohomish and can be available within WA-OR. All our dogs require secure VISIBLE fencing. All current pets in adoptive home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccinations.  Adoption Fee: $275 All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.  Adoption applications can be found on our website: www.greatpyrsandpaws.org https://greatpyrsandpaws.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5959    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 27, 2025, 9:09 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hello!  I'm Elton.  My foster mom calls me Elton Cheese and Crackers because I LOVE cheese!  I have to tell you, I had a pretty rough start in life. But now that I'm in my foster home I'm gaining confidence and learning how to be a dog!  My foster parents tell me that I'm doing good and learn very quickly.  They're impressed at how I've progressed, but I will still need someone with time and patience to continue working with me. I am crate trained, potty trained, walk well on a leash, and get along famously with my dog brother.  My foster parents are currently working with me on come here and sit.  Foster mom buys me all sorts of tasty snacks to encourage training.  I've also just learned how fun it is to have a Kong toy to play with!  Especially when they're filled with Cheerios!  I have ridden in vehicles and feel confident enough to jump out on my own but still need help getting in.  We're continuing to work on this.  I also love sleeping on my dog beds.  I am also now a master of the stairs in my foster home!  That one sure was scary to conquer.  I will need a playful medium to large dog in the home to help me continue to learn and enjoy all the things about being a dog. I'll admit that I don't even know yet how to play with a tug or squeaky toy.  Let's talk about outside, I LOVE being outside!  I find a spot by our big pine tree and sit and sniff the air or hang out on the deck when I'm not zooming.  I may be a little shy when I first meet you but it's nothing personal. I was not socialized for the first 10 months of my life. Foster parents are working on this with me too.  I meet people on our walks and am not afraid of them.  I hope you'd like to make me part of your family, I'm so excited to get to do all sorts of great dog things as I grow up!  All our dogs require secure VISIBLE fencing. All current pets in adoptive home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccinations.  We do not adopt to families with children under the age of 6.  Adoption Fee: $275 All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. Story
This is such a hard decision for us, but we want to do what's best for him. Our 5-year-old Cocker Spaniel/Great Pyrenees mix needs a new home. He has been our first "baby" but our toddler has become too overwhelming for him, and he's started to become reactive around small children. He deserves a calmer, more predictable environment where he can feel safe and loved. He has mellow large dog energy in a small dog's body. He is a very cuddly, loving, and loyal dog with an active, playful personality. He enjoys walks, attention, and being close to his people. He is fully house-trained, crate-trained, knows basic commands, and is up to date on all of his vaccines. He is not good with young children or cats, but he may do well with older, respectful kids or the right dog after a proper meet-and-greet. We are looking for a child-free home where he can have the stability, gentleness, and affection he truly thrives on. He will make a wonderful companion for the right person or family.

Story
Meet Maggie, a bright, affectionate, and eager-to-please young rescue dog who is ready to find her forever family. Just over a year old and weighing 65 pounds, Maggie is the perfect blend of youthful energy and eager intelligence. From the moment she arrived in her foster home, she impressed everyone with how quickly she learns. She already knows commands like sit, off, and leave it, and she loves showing off her skills for praise or treats. Maggie is also wonderfully adaptable. She took to using the doggie door within minutes, proving just how sharp and intuitive she is. Whether she’s exploring the yard, relaxing inside, or settling into her crate for rest time, Maggie handles transitions with ease and appreciates having predictable routines she can rely on. Social and gentle, Maggie gets along well with other dogs and enjoys having canine friends to play and interact with. She thrives in an environment where she can continue learning, bonding, and picking up new commands—training with her is not only easy but genuinely enjoyable thanks to how quickly she understands what’s being asked of her. Maggie does experience anxiety when left alone in the house, so she needs to be crated for her safety and comfort when unsupervised. She also becomes anxious during car rides, so at this time she is available only within Texas to avoid long transports that could overwhelm her. Maggie is a loving, intelligent companion who will blossom with a patient, committed family. She’s ready to bring joy, devotion, and her sweet spirit to a home that understands her needs and celebrates her wonderful strengths. Maggie is currently being fostered in a loving home in Seguin, TX, where she’s gaining confidence and practicing her manners every day. She can scale a short fence so a 6 foot fence or higher is recommended. To see more pictures and videos, copy and paste this link. To apply directly for Maggie click the "Apply for Adoption" button. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-779 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. This benefit includes free access to Petcademy's team of trainers/behaviorists, as well as access to online materials that will help you settle your new family member into your home. Story
Top Hat is a one-year-old Anatolian Shepherd mix with a heart as big as his paws and a spirit that refuses to quit. After surviving a traumatic accident, this handsome boy has shown just how resilient and sweet he truly is. Despite everything he’s been through, Top Hat remains extremely bright, alert, responsive, and eager to enjoy life. Top Hat is currently healing from a jaw fracture and a few lacerations that are well on their way to recovery. He’s eating, drinking, and taking his medications like a champ, and his veterinary team reports that his prognosis is good. He’s on some temporary activity restrictions and wears a soft muzzle while his jaw finishes healing, but this is all short-term care with a clear recheck date in January. Behavior-wise, Top Hat is described as sweet, active, and affectionate, with no behavior concerns noted. He’s still young and will benefit from a calm, supportive home that can help him rest, heal, and continue building confidence as he grows into the loyal, devoted companion Anatolian mixes are known to be. Top Hat would do best in a foster or adoptive home that’s comfortable following post-injury care instructions for a few more weeks. In return, you’ll be rewarded with a grateful, gentle giant-in-the-making who’s ready to leave his rough start behind and begin his next chapter surrounded by love.

Story
Hit the trail with Oatmeal a sweet 4-year-old wheelie dog shepherd, Anatolian mix currently at Austin Pets Alive! She is a calm and gentle creature with a weakness for pets and treats. Her love for cuddles is bound to warm your heart. She is also a social bug who loves a crowd. She is an exceptional pup and a staff favorite at Austin Pets Alive!. Not a lot is known about Oatmeal's past life, but we know she arrived at APA! with a chronic spinal injury that led to paralysis in her hind legs. However, she is resilient and doesn't let her paralysis stop her from living her best life. Oatmeal is a very chill dog who enjoys toys, walks, and cuddles. She also loves meeting people of all ages and has the potential to live with another dog. Taking care of Oatmeal does not cause much trouble; she just needs some help going potty. This is a straightforward technique that can be taught quickly. She also uses a wheelchair to go on walks, but using a sling to pick up her hind legs and place them in the chair makes this process smooth and easy. An ideal home for her would be one where she can easily enter and exit with her wheels and navigate by scooting around without risking getting injured or falling. Having designated areas for her would be preferred while she becomes accustomed to the new environment. Oatmeal is a member of the exclusive Ruff Tail Runners, a group of dogs trained to walk or run on Lady Bird Lake. This little off-campus activity allows these dogs to get a nice break from their kennels and showcase them in front of many trailgoers to help them get adopted. During her trail walks, Oatmeal loves to sniff around and engage in her favorite sport, squirrel-watching, which she's quite proficient at. She is an excellent reminder of resilience and willpower. Nothing can stop this sweet pup from sharing her love with everyone, no matter how tough things might get, motivating everyone around her to keep pushing in whatever challenge they may face Oatmeal is ready to "roll out" of the shelter in her pink wheelchair and into a loving home. If you'd like to foster or adopt Oatmeal or any of our adorable adoptable pets, visit our website, austinpetsalive.org, or come in person at 1156 W Cesar Chavez near downtown Austin. Oatmeal was also recently featured in Austin Fit Magazine! https://www.austinfitmagazine.com/October-2024/pet-of-the-month-oatmeal/

KJ is well socialized, gentle and a joy to be with. He is housebroken and will sit on request. This includes waiting for his supper. His favorite toy is a large knotted rope. He loves to play fetch. He will also be happy to sit in a corner and chew on his toy until he falls asleep. He often takes naps with his paw on his toy; it’s adorable! On walks, he is very polite and has good leash-manners. But he also still has a lot of puppy playfulness in him. He will do that puppy bow and invite you to chase him or play with him. He will be a great companion for a person or family looking for a playful dog wanting to go on adventures or keep up with an active household. Meet this perfect boy while you still have the chance before he gets adopted!
