Story
Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation.  We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve.  Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable.  Adopting a friend:The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography.  What you need to do to adopt:If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done. Meet & Greets:An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  *Due to rescuer being very ill, all her dogs are in desperate need!!! Greetings! I'm Fluffy! My best friend, Poe, and I were allowed to wander the streets. Our owner just didn't care. I was pregnant at the time. Our rescuer begged for me to be able to come into rescue. So, our owner dumped me and unexpectedly and luckily dumped Poe too! I am a very pretty girl that is about three to four years old. I am mostly fluff and I weigh around eighty pounds. We are the friendliest duo and are exceptionally loving! We adore people and other doggies. We do love children but I can get excitable, so small children may get overwhelmed. We are true buddies. You will always find us hanging out together. We enjoy adventures and would follow you to the ends of the earth. All you have to do is make us yours! Love,Fluffy & Poe *Guest Posting**Discount for two!***Adoption Fee $275 for both If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. To fill out an application, go to www.almosthometn.org. If you can't get it to work, tell us and we will email it to you.ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for a cat is $85. The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. The adoption fee for a dog is $200. The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced. The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer. We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees.  Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee.  Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need. November 1, 2024, 8:13 pm

Bell was intended to be a farm dog but likes to escape. We can not keep her in and it’s becoming an issue with the neighbors. She’s good with all farm animals but still needs work with chickens.

Story
Hello my name is Maggie, I am turning 8 this year and I am a great pyr mix. I am the most gentle dog you will ever meet. I love kids, and cats. I like going on walks and I can basically poop on demand. If it’s snowing outside, you will have a very hard time getting me back inside because I love the snow! I am terrified of thunderstorms and if left outside I will escape and run. I pant and shake during one and recommend keeping a close eye on me or kept in a bedroom when gone. I do not do well in kennels. I love to lay inside of closets that have the door open. Great pyrs love to bark, when left outside they will bark constantly to keep predators away. We also shed a lot. My owners pay ~$140 every 6-8 weeks to get me groomed and we cannot be shaved. My current owners were forced to downsize their life and cannot give the space I need. I am a great, friendly dog who will love you and I’m ready for a new home!

Story
Chibbs is a 135lb love bug! He lives w 2 other dogs and gets a long with them fine. When we take him for walks he loves meeting new people! On the occasion he has gotten loose, he’s NEVER been aggressive toward other people or animals- just curious and playful. He is protective of his home and when he’s outside he barks constantly at anyone walking by. Chibbs needs a job to do to fulfill his self worth! We love the pooch, he just need a larger area where he can be of use!!
