Lovey Sunshine is a beautiful Great Pyrenees mix who has found herself in need of a new home. This sweet, lovable mama was found pregnant and abandoned. Despite facing tough times, Lovey remains a shining example of resilience. She's friendly, outgoing, and incredibly affectionate. Lovey's puppies have all found loving homes, and now it's her turn She loves meeting new people, including kids, is friendly with other dogs and is tolerant of cats. She is housetrained, crate trained and walks pretty good on the leash but pulls a bit and would love to join you on a walk so she can get more practice. She is an affectionate girl that would love to be all yours! Basic group training classes is recommended to help her learn commands, socialize with other humans and dogs, as well as build that fur-ever bond with you! Lovey’s story: Abandoned by her previous owners when they moved away, this sweet, pregnant mom was left to fend for herself. Fortunately, a compassionate neighbor noticed Lovey's plight and began to feed her, but with puppies on the way, she knew Lovey needed more than just food—she needed a safe, loving environment to bring her babies into the world. That's when our southern rescue partner stepped in. Responding to the call for help, they put out an urgent plea for a foster. Answering the call, a kind-hearted foster family welcomed Lovey into their home. Just two days after her rescue, Lovey gave birth to 10 beautiful puppies, aptly named the Sunshine Litter. Medical Note: This dog is being treated/has been treated for heartworm disease. Untreated heartworm disease can cause lasting damage to the heart, lungs and arteries, and can affect the dog’s health and quality of life even after the parasites are gone, possibly presenting as medical complications and/or new conditions in the future. Whenever possible, SOSARL advocates for following the American Heartworm Society guidelines for heartworm disease treatment as the safest and most effective methods; the active portion of this treatment protocol can take up to four months to complete. Once treatment is completed and the dog tests negative for microfilaria, the dog will be cleared to resume normal activity and will be ready to travel north and be placed into an adoptive home. This dog showed no symptoms of heartworm disease before or during treatment and is expected to complete treatment with no complications.
