Story
Well, howdy there, folks! The name’s Hoss, and I reckon I’m about as big and fluffy as a cloud floating over a wide-open pasture. At three years old and 75 pounds of pure love, I’ve got a heart just as grand as my Great Pyrenees frame. Now, I may have started off as a lonely cowboy, found wandering the day after Valentine’s Day, but let me tell ya—I've got plenty of love to give. I’m a sweet, affectionate fella who’s always ready to lean into you for some good ol’ fashioned head scratches. Playful yet gentle, I know when to kick up my paws for fun and when to take it easy. I get along just fine with other dogs and even those curious little critters called cats. Whether you need a loyal guardian to watch over the homestead or a cuddle buddy to keep you warm on chilly nights, I’m your guy. So what do you say, partner? Ready to ride off into the sunset together? Come meet me, and let’s start our next adventure! Hoss' adoption fee is $275. Story
Hey there, future best friend! My name’s Gummy Bear, and I’m about as sweet and lovable as my name suggests. At 80 pounds, I’m a big ol’ teddy bear with a heart full of love and a personality that’s equal parts chill and fun. I’m the kind of dog who just goes with the flow. Want to play outside? I’m in! Prefer to relax on the couch? I’ll happily be your cuddle buddy. I’m super friendly, smart, and gentle, especially with kids—I’ve met them before, and let me tell ya, I think they’re pretty great! I also share my space with a high-energy pup, and while he’s a bit (a-hem) extra, I handle it all like a pro. No drama, no fuss—just my easygoing, happy self. Oh, and get this—I even met a cat once! Sure, I was a little unsure at first, but I mostly just minded my own business. No chasing, no barking, just a polite “you do you, buddy” and I carried on with my day. I love being outside, lounging in the sun, and getting belly rubs. If you’re looking for a loyal, playful, and easygoing companion who will love you unconditionally, I think we might be a perfect match. So, what do you say? Wanna meet your new best friend? I’ll be here, wagging my tail, waiting for you! Gummy Bear's adoption fee is $275. Story
Winnie arrived at NCCR on 2/8/25, transferred from an overcrowded shelter that had no more space for her. She is an approximately 2-year-old spayed female Great Pyrenees (mix?), weighing around 50 lbs. She is reported to be very good with most other dogs, and loves people. ANOTHER UPDATE AS SHE IS SETTLING IN (Feb 22nd): she loves snow and is just joyful outside she has no interest in car rides even with treats - I'll keep working on that she loved my neighbors and did really well with their small pup she stayed home for an hour by herself and did not cry or get into anything she sleeps well through the night and we woke her up this morning (no crate needed) her stomach seems sensitive to all the food changes, but she was eating more today on kibble + chicken/rice, so I'm hoping her appetite and stool improve next week.   she LOVES cheese and most treats, and takes them very gently she is a very slow eater, which is a novel thing in this house. :) I love this foster so much, she's wonderful.  UPDATE:  (Feb 20)  From her foster home:  Winnie is doing really well here. not house trained yet decent on leash likes to stay near human and other dogs so very sweet slept curled up next to me clumsy and goofy no resource guarding anxious in car loves to eat snow loves all toys, especially balls If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an  Adoption Application found at caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you.   If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day. We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in. *PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them. NYS Registration #RR028
