Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Krista, a vivacious and affectionate young Great Pyrenees seeking her perfect home! This bouncy girl is best suited for families with older children (12 and up), as her enthusiastic nature might accidentally overwhelm smaller kids. Krista is a social butterfly who loves being the center of attention. She walks well on a leash but can get excited and pull when stimulated. At home, she's house-trained and comfortable indoors. She gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes and has shown a playful, lovable personality. When it comes to cats, Krista has a playful chase instinct if they run, though she hasn't displayed aggression. She's responsive to commands, readily returning to her kennel when called. A 4-1/2 foot fence should contain her, but potential adopters should be prepared for her excitement when greeting people. If you're looking for an energetic, people-loving companion who thrives on attention and enjoys canine companionship, Krista might be your perfect match! Her playful spirit and affectionate nature promise to bring joy and excitement to the right home. NGPR Pooch Profile Name: Krista in TN  Age: 1 yr 8 mos old as of November 2024  Color: White  Dew Claws: Yes, single  Estimated Adult Weight: 70 lbs  Current Location: NGPR approved boarding in Lebanon, TN  Medical: Spayed, dewormed, negative for heartworm, up-to-date on vaccinations and currently on flea, tick and heartworm preventative. This dog travels with a Interstate Health Certificate required by the USDA confirming that all the above criteria have been met. Housebroken: Yes  Can be Placed With: Dogs, Older Kids, Dog-savvy Cats  Fencing: Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed. Fees: Adoption fees are determined on a sliding scale depending on age, location and transport. Fees for dogs adopted locally start at $400 and can range up to $700 for puppies under six months. Puppies placed on spay/neuter contracts receive $100 back when the dog is spayed or neutered. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. Fees for senior dogs (7 or older) and foster dogs will be adjusted accordingly.  NYS Registered Rescue # RR102 Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. We may consider fostering for some of our dogs who are in boarding. Please visit Fostering FAQfor an application and information about our fostering program. If you can't foster or adopt at this time, please consider helping our Neediest Cases or making a tax-exempt donation by visiting our Donate page. Please complete the adoption application and visit nationalpyr.org to learn more about Pyrs and our adoption process. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) is not a shelter. We are a non-profit, tax-exempt rescue who has been rescuing the breed for 15 years.  Visit nationalpyr.org to learn more about us, our mission and our breed. More Information: Questions? Story
Well hello there! I’m Duke, a 3-year-old Great Pyrenees and a true “gentle giant” at 125 pounds of pure love! I’m as sweet as can be and happiest when I’m close to my people, soaking up all the affection you’re willing to give. Pet me once, and I’ll be your best friend forever—I just love those head rubs and belly scratches! Despite my size, I’m as gentle as they come. I have a calm, laid-back personality that makes me the perfect companion to relax with after a long day. I’m loyal and loving, always ready to be by your side and give you all the comfort and warmth you could ask for. With me around, you’ll never feel lonely—I’ll always be there to brighten your day. I’m looking for a forever home where I can share all this love I have in my big heart and get the same in return! Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). We are a 501c3, tax deductible organization. ANCAR is a foster-based rescue, and we adopt within a 90 mile radius of Bedford Hills, NY. You will find the adoption application here: (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/). All fields on the application must be completed. Please read about the adoption process (https://www.anewchancear.org/adopt/our-adoption-process/) so you'll know what to expect when you submit. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://www.anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources. If you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://www.anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. It is only through the kindness of supporters like you that we are 'changing lives...one tail at a time' by providing our dogs with 'A New Chance.' (https://anewchancear.org) Thanks so much.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Beautiful Betsy has a medium length tricolored coat and an adorable freckled nose! Betsy is calm, relaxed, and gentle and loves to give her paw and receive love and hugs. Betsy had a rough start to her young life, living outside and having 2 litters of puppies. But now she’s learning how awesome it is to live indoors and hang out with her humans, whom she adores! She’s great meeting new people too! She is a Pyrenees and Anatolian Shepherd mix and on the smaller side. She is housebroken, leash, and crate trained and is very willing to learn new things, but as a typical Pyr she can resist doing things she doesn’t want to, like coming inside. Betsy needs a tall, secure fence as she was previously allowed to wander (the taller, the better!). This sweet girl is perfect with all aspects of grooming. She has a medium level of activity with some bursts of energy, but mostly prefers to sit by her favorite people and watch the world go by. She only barks when she wants to go outside or sees something worthy of noting in the yard. Betsy craves to live the good life with a cozy bed, full belly, and a family to love her. - Written by H.B. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Socks is a stunning young pup with the most adorable nose freckles and polka-dot socks on all four paws! Not only is he uniquely handsome, he’s a sweet mild-mannered dog who loves to play. He is treat-motivated and the only thing he likes more than treats is you loving on him! Socks came into rescue with his five brothers, and all of them have young dog energy, enjoying an active lifestyle full of play and adventure. They are half Cattle Dog, half Great Pyrenees, and 100% Good Boys! Socks is learning to walk on leash, and barks only to alert. He’s great with dogs and has been non-reactive to the cats he’s seen. Socks is a happy fella who craves attention, so be sure to keep at least one hand free for giving belly rubs to this super-soft sweetie! He also loves to go exploring, enjoying hikes through the woods, chasing squirrels, and playing at the beach! He’s developed quite the fondness for water and is an excellent swimmer, paddling down the river like a pro! Socks enjoys healthy food options to go along with his active lifestyle, and has a fondness for strawberries and full balls of cabbage. Socks’s ideal home will be with an active family with a canine sibling or two for him to play with. This affectionate boy is friendly with everyone he meets, and he is so looking forward to the day he gets to meet his furever family! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. You know, they say that dogs are our best friends, MoonLily most definitely read that memo and then some! This beautiful young girl is truly everything anyone can hope for in a Pyr companion. MoonLily is medium-energy, with a zest for life and anything fun - especially if she’s getting attention, which she adores! MoonLily is mature for her age - a gentle giant, especially when it comes to the two-legged youngsters. She is no doubt the most trustworthy and attentive playmate one can ever hope for. When it is playtime, MoonLily is a joy to watch, as she runs around with her four-legged friends, chasing each other and exploring the outdoors. When it is time for the daily walks, MoonLily is the model citizen, demonstrating manners that are beyond her age - seriously, you will be impressed by how lovely a walking companion she is. She is also crate trained, listens well, and is very obedient. She hasn’t shown any desire to dig, and is not a big barker. A 5’ fence would work for this sweet girl. During down times, MoonLily is more than content to hang out by your feet with a nice chew as everyone relaxes and enjoy each other's company, or take some “me time” to chill out on her own, demonstrating her Pyr independence. She could be an only-dog, or part of a pack if her people are Pyr-knowledgeable. So what say you? Are you ready to open your heart and your home to this adorable young girl? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Sissy, a senior Great Pyrenees girl who has a gentle spirit and loving nature, and is ready to find her forever home! This beautiful girl sports an all-white, medium-length coat and soulful dark brown eyes. Sissy is steadily gaining weight and regaining her health after her time as a stray. Sissy is a calm and people-friendly companion who adores meeting new friends, especially children. She rides okay in cars, but wants to be in the front seat so she needs a restraint to keep her out of the driver’s lap. She walks well on a leash, but will pull when excited to get to a new scent. Her treat motivation makes training sessions a joy, and she's proven to be wonderfully sociable in the kennel, showing no signs of aggression towards other dogs. During park walks, Sissy demonstrates remarkable composure, peacefully ignoring other animals like ducks and squirrels. Her relaxed demeanor and gentle temperament make her an ideal companion for families looking for a steady, affectionate dog who's past the high-energy puppy stage. A four-foot fenced-in yard would be a welcomed perk for this lovely lady. Are you ready to welcome this sweet, mature girl into your home? Sissy is waiting to shower her new family with love and companionship, promising years of loyal friendship and gentle cuddles.
