Story
Katniss is a sweet, fuzzy gal (born Nov. 2021) who loves people, kitties, dogs, and is great with kids/babies of any age. She's well-behaved, potty-trained, and loves napping in the sunshine. Katniss would make an amazing addition to any family! She is a super-gentle giant and mostly enjoys laying in the backyard.  She knows how to "come" and "hush". She does best when around other dogs so she would love to have another dog at home to keep her company. Apply to adopt Katniss today!  The suggested adoption donation for Katniss is $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Bell is as sweet as she looks and would make a perfect addition to any family (born 11/2022)! True to her breed (Great Pyrenees) - she is gentle, affectionate and friendly as can be to dogs and people of all ages and sizes. Yep, she's perfect. Well, almost perfect. Her only flaw is that if she sees an open door, she's probably going to try running out of it. She's a social butterfly... can you blame her for wanting to head out of the open front door and take a lap around the neighborhood to say 'hi' to her neighbors?! Don't worry, though - she does amazing on a leash. Plus, she's potty-trained and knows plenty of basic commands. See? Perfect! Bell would truly do amazing with any kind of family - kids, other dogs, suburb, or acreage. She would prefer not to have to spend a lot of her time in a kennel - that stresses her out a little. Her only other request is that her family gives her lots of loves, attention, and... a fenced in backyard and lots of outside time. If Bell sounds like a fit for you, apply to adopt her today! The suggested adoption donation for Bell is $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Story
Crystal came to us in June with 7- 2 week old puppies. She is deaf and has had quite a rough start as she was dumped in rural Oklahoma, pregnant, and some good samaritans kept her while she gave birth to her puppies and once they were 2 weeks old, they reached out to find a rescue to take the young family in. We met them halfway and one of our incredible fosters worked through the nursing phase with her. It wasn't all that straight-forward as she has balance issues and was stepping on and laying on her babies so they needed to be separated, within the pen, so the puppies were safe. She is currently on medication to aid in her balance and walking issues so she will likely need to be on that medication for the rest of her life. The medication is approximately $10 for 2 months, so it is not expensive. Once the puppies were weaned, we were able to work a bit more with Crystal and she is in a new foster home getting constant love and attention with another resident dog. She is the sweetest, most gentle soul and only recently her foster reported that she is actually barking periodically, she hadn't done that prior. So, she is ready to move on to a permanent home that will understand her special needs as her balance is a bit better, but she exagerates her playing due to being off-balance. She is also deaf but her foster is getting a bit of signing going to help her be her best self. She is housetrained, chill, and so very loving. She is utd on vaccinations, chipped, and spayed. She is kennel trained but her foster just leaves the door open and she choose to go in as she pleases. She has picked up a habit of chewing on things but this sweetheart likely never had the opportunity to be a puppy so it's a matter of being proactive to give her things to chew that are ok. One side note, Crystal was shot with either bb's or buckshot at one time in her young life. When x-rays were taken there were several bb's or buckshot still in her body. We don't know what happened to this sweet girl but we know she was a wonderful mom to her pups and is a super sweet girl to her person. Consider giving this girl her new permanent life.
