Story
Luna is a sweet and loving dog. Unfortunately, she had to be surrendered from her owner for no reason of Luna. Instead of coming to the shelter, Luna is being fostered. Enjoys going for walks. She doesn't really pay any attention to the kittens/cats in the lobby. She has such an easy going personality.

Story
Meet Chip, a 6-year-old Lab and Great Pyrenees mix with a heart full of love and a playful spirit. Chip has been with us for a while, making him one of our beloved "forget-me-not" dogs, and he's truly deserving of a special place to call his forever home. Though we don't know much about his past-he was picked up by animal control-what we do know is that Chip is incredibly friendly with people and has a lot of love to give.Chip's personality is as big as his heart. Despite his age, he has the playful energy of a much younger dog and is always ready for a game or an adventure. His favorite activities include going on car rides, where he happily gazes out the window, and going for leisurely walks, where he shows off his excellent leash manners. Chip seems to be housetrained, so he's ready to transition smoothly into a home environment. His obedient nature makes him a joy to be around, and he responds well to structure and commands.Affectionate and sweet, Chip thrives on human attention. He'll greet you with a wagging tail and a sparkle in his eye, eager for a pat on the head or a belly rub. Chip loves children and would make a wonderful companion for a family, as he's gentle and caring with young ones. He's the kind of dog who wants to be your loyal sidekick, always there to bring a smile to your face. One important thing to note is that Chip is happiest as the only pet in the home. While he's loving and playful with people, he prefers to have his own space and can be defensive if he has to share his territory with other animals. A pet-free household would allow Chip to relax and truly be himself, without the worry of guarding his space. He'll flourish in a home where he's the center of attention and can soak up all the love he craves.Chip is a wonderful blend of affectionate and independent. His ideal family would be one that understands his need for attention and play, balanced with his preference for a pet-free environment. He's smart, well-behaved, and loves routine, making him easy to manage and a joy to have around. Chip has been waiting patiently for his forever home, and he deserves a family that will appreciate his playful, loyal, and loving nature. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will bring joy, love, and a big dose of fun into your life, come meet Chip. He's ready to give his whole heart to a family who will cherish him as much as he'll cherish them. Chip is more than ready to leave shelter life behind and start his new chapter as a beloved family member-could that be with you? Chip's adoption fee has been sponsored by a generous donor. Story
Meet Knox, an almost two-year-old Great Pyrenees x Lab mix weighing 77lbs- a true gentle giant to say the least. His endearing nature is particularly touching considering his special need - he is deaf. Despite his hearing impairment, Knox is a happy and easy going guy. His sweet and mild nature instantly warms the hearts of those around him. However, he DOES NOT like sharing his food with people or animals, becoming very defensive and possessive. Feeding time for Knox should look like this...fed alone in a room with a closed door and not let out until he's done eating. When it comes to other dogs, we have never seen him show any outward signs of aggression. However, it seems that other dogs are unpredictable to him, and he would choose to avoid them if he had the option. If pushed by another dog, he seems like he would defend his personal space. However, we haven't allowed him to feel like he has to defend himself. With that in mind, Knox would be best suited as the only dog in a household or with lower-energy canine companions who respect his boundaries. Alternatively, a home experienced in managing multiple dogs could provide him with the guidance and supervision he needs to flourish. Knox's ideal forever home is one that recognizes and embraces his distinctive qualities. Patience, understanding, and unconditional love are the pillars of the home he seeks, where he can navigate life with the gentle guidance needed to thrive. Be it leisurely strolls in nature or cozy evenings at home, Knox is ready to share his heart and create a lifetime of cherished memories with a family willing to appreciate the sweet spirit he will bring to his forever home.If you're ready to welcome Knox into your life, come meet him, and embark on a journey filled with love, laughter, and the delightful sound of endless tail wags. Story
Hello, I'm Mo! I'm the sweetest, friendliest, most curious and smartest dog you'll ever meet. I've lived most of my life outdoors, so I could adapt again to that life or life inside loving you. If you're looking for a friend that can turn any situation into a comedy sketch, I'm your dogs. Adopt me, and let's create our own sitcom! If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2032005##

Story
Hi, I'm Luna Bear! I'm a 8 year old Great Pyrenese mix. I'm an older lady and have been in the shelter system for almost 3 years...I'm a lady of leisure and independence. I appreciate my own space, and while I may not be the life of the dog park, I offer a mellow companionship that's hard to find. I prefer a quiet home where I can relax and be myself. I'm not one for other dogs or cats, but I promise to fill your life with a unique kind of love.
