Story
Meet Karma (Karm / Karmie) Karma is a 2-year-old Great Pyrenees (DOB 3/31/24) weighing approximately 94 pounds, and he embodies everything this incredible guardian breed is known for - loyalty, vigilance, and a deep devotion to his people. Karm is not a simple easygoing family dog; he is a true livestock guardian at heart, always aware of his surroundings and committed to protecting what he considers his own. Because of his life prior to rescue (experienced homelessness with his past owner and lived in a car for a couple of months), Karma can be sensitive to busy or unpredictable environments. He carries a heightened awareness of everything around him and needs a home where he can feel safe enough to relax and decompress. In the right setting, with patience and consistency, his personality begins to shine and his bond with his person becomes incredibly strong. Karma is seeking a very specific type of home to ensure his success. A quiet, rural setting or farm environment is ideal, as he is not suited for high-traffic suburban neighborhoods. A secure containment system, such as a 6-foot privacy fence or a well-built dog run, is required to keep him safe. While he was recently neutered and the instinct to roam may lessen over time, proper containment will always be necessary for this breed. He would do best in a home or with older, dog-savvy teenagers, as his size and physical play style can be overwhelming for young children or unsafe for elderly individuals. Karma also needs an adopter who is home frequently, as he is accustomed to having someone home to help aleviate his mild anxiety and benefits greatly from consistent presence and routine. Despite his size and strong instincts, Karma is a very intelligent and trainable dog. He is highly food motivated, offers excellent eye contact, and already understands basic commands. He responds well to correction and guidance and has shown that he is capable of learning quickly when given clear expectations. However, he is still a work in progress and will need a committed adopter to continue his training. Karma cannot be crated, as confinement causes him to panic (likely due to some PTSD from living in a car). He will need a home that can manage his space in other ways. He is still learning some manners including not rushing out of doors, and he has a tendency to counter surf - something to be expected from a dog of his size and curiosity. Coming from a high-stress background, he will need time, patience, and a confident leader to help him continue adjusting to a more stable life. Karma has previously lived with both a cat and a small dog and has shown that he has the potential to coexist with other animals. As with any dog, especially one of his size and background, introductions should be done slowly and thoughtfully to set everyone up for success. Karma is not a dog for everyone, but for the right home, he will be an incredibly loyal and devoted companion. He is looking for someone who understands the nature of guardian breeds, or who is willing to learn, and who can provide him with structure, security, and a sense of purpose. With the right person by his side, Karma has all the potential to become an extraordinary lifelong partner. He’s not just looking for a home - he’s looking for someone who truly understands him. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal’s temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different. While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program. FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI. OUR FOSTER ANIMALS ARE LIVING IN FOSTER HOMES AND TREATED LIKE FAMILY UNTIL THEY FIND THEIR OWN FUREVER FAMILIES. OUR ADOPTION PROECESS REQUIRES AN APPLICATION TO BE COMPLETED AND APPROVED BEFORE A MEET-N-GREET WITH THE ANIMAL CAN TAKE PLACE. ADOPTION FEES ARE NECESSARY TO HELP US COVER VETTING COSTS FOR OUR RESCUED ANIMALS. ##2708109##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Cloud is a 5 year old 105 pound Great Pyrenees and Australian Shepherd mix. He has a a very short tail for his size. This dog has it all: Stunning good looks and a Golden Retriever personality. If there are 99 people in the room he would want yet one more. He loves kids, crowds, stores, other dogs and has been okay around outdoor cats. He does shed. A lot. He also adores being vacuum groomed, so there’s that   He loves to go on runs with his people, he is trained to wear a gentle leader. He really loves his squeaky ball toy! Due to his ginormous size and clumsiness when excited, he would do best with children eight and up. He’s not used to being crated but is fine with being in small gated areas from time to time. He must have a securely fenced yard of at least four feet in height. He can bark, and if bored, will dig holes. He can be in a home with a high level of activity from day to day. He’s not used to being left alone for long periods of time. He’s being re-homed due to illness and family circumstances. He is pure joy to have around and loves to snuggle.   Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $45.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Story
Meet Claudia! FOSTER UPDATES COMING SOON! LOVES DOGS, CATS & KIDDOS! Claudia is a one-year-old, 50-pound Pyranees/lab mix that deserves the absolute best family there is! If there was ever a pup that was worthy of being spoiled for the rest of her days, it's Claudia. She survived a horrific hoarding situation and we want to make sure the family that adopts her will give her the world! When she first arrived at GLDR, she was very unsure of herself, but in just a short time, she is learning to trust and we are seeing her enjoy being a pup! This timid girl will make you smile with her adorable tippy taps when she's excited. She's super food-motivated and takes her treats nicely. Claudia already knows how to sit and when she gives you that submissive smile of hers, you'll wonder just how you lived without her. Claudia will thrive in a home where she will receive daily exercise and has a yard to enjoy. She will needs a family that will provide her with lots of encouragment and be patient while she navigates her new home. Positive reinforcement training with Claudia will be an excellent way to form a bond with this lovely lady. Based on our evaluations, we feel Claudia will do best in an active but predictable home with adults or families with kids ages 12 and up. She may have the capacity to live with other dogs and she enjoys the company of her kennel mates. We are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If you'd like to be the one to show Claudia just how good life can be, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for this darling, deserving gal!
