We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG:https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=44, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=46) completely. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Hello my names Summer! I’m a Survivor! When I was young I was in really rough shape. I was surrendered to a shelter severely underweight and had never been to a vet.  Within a few days of being in my foster home I was diagnosed with parvovirus and was in the hospital for 7 days. After that I was so happy to be back in my foster home.  I was adopted at 10 months old and now find myself looking for a home again because my owner passed away unexpectedly. I’m very smart. I learned very quickly to sit for treats and sit for my leash. I’m about 75 lbs, tall and slender.  I will bark at new people, but if you let me sniff you, I calm down and become your friend very quickly. I will even flip over so you can rub my belly. I’m a little sneaky and can jump a chain link fence. I may require a tie out or taller fence so I don’t accidentally sneak away on you.  I still have the energy of a young dog but I also like to chill with you. I suffer from anxiety and will have to take medications for this for the remainder of my life. I’m looking for someone that will spend lots of time with me and help me become the best dog I can be. I’m looking for a home where I can be the main attraction! I currently love spending lots of time with my foster dad while he works in hes garage. I’m super good on walks and I love spending time outside, I’d make a great hiking companion!  I’ve been looking for my just right person for awhile so please give me a chance to be your best friend!  &#226&#128&#139Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. November 4, 2024, 7:53 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Bonnie! She was found wandering around in a neighborhood in the rural south and taken to a dog pound in KY.  When her owners did not claim her, HDDCR happily stepped in to care for her.  Bonnie is gentle and submissive girl with her people, and she has a submissive grin that is seen from time to time as she wiggles her butt and tail full force. Her whole body dances when she is excited, and she is often enthusiastic about showing affection. Bonnie is housebroken and usually quiet in the house. She loves being outside and enjoys laying in the grass. She also loves to work out her zoomies as well by bouncing around the yard as you chase her. True to her breed, she does monitor her yard and chases away would-be intruders like squirrels. She is trained on both the flexi-leash and plain 9-foot leather lead for walks. Bonnie came to us with behaviors like jumping up for attention and hugs (we think she was encouraged to do this in the past). We also believe she was kept as an inside/outside working farm dog. Bonnie is very tolerant of being brushed, wiped down, and having her feet handled. If this beautiful girl sounds right for you, please submit your online adoption application today. Bonnie can’t wait to meet you!     Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $45.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 7, 2024, 5:53 am
