Story
Meet Elton, a one-year-old Great Pyrenees mix and a true gentle giant. He loves attention, meeting new people and dogs, and will steal the show wherever he goes. Elton is neutered, up to date on shots, crate and house-trained, and well-mannered. He’s generally quiet but will bark to protect his home when needed. Elton adores kids but can get overly excited, so a home with children 10 is best. He needs a fenced yard or ample land for daily outdoor time. He loves other dogs, especially males, and does great in group play, though he can be possessive of toys and people inside the home. He thrives with an owner who can help him adjust to living with another dog. Outside the home, he’s incredibly social and loves to play. So he would also do well as an only dog, as long as he has buddies! Elton would make a fantastic office dog—he’s friendly, well-behaved, and loves being around people. Smart, cuddly, and playful, he’s the perfect mix of fun and affection.

Story
We have more dogs being turned into rescue. We will keep our site update as they come in, are vetted and determined ready to be adopted. If you have never had a Pyr Puppy you need to read this : http://www.nepyresq.org/page/i-want-a-great-pyrenees-puppy-50.html The application process is to go to our website and fill out an adoption application form. http://www.nepyresq.org/page/adoption-process-47.html We do not accept INVISIBLE fencing for the following reasons: 1) Most Pyrs ignore the pain and go through it. 2) This is a guardian breed and this fencing does not keep people or other animals out of your yard. The Pyr could take them as a threat or be attacked. WE do not allow them to be tied out. It makes them aggressive. If you do not have a fenced yard then a fenced area would be acceptable. Most of these dogs are not a dog park breed. They bark a lot and can bother your neighbors.

Story
Welcome Athena to CCPAL Rescue. She is a 2-year Great Pyrenees. She weighs about 90 pounds. She has a beautiful coat and the typical extra back toes commonly found in this breed. This is a guardian breed dog. They naturally will protect their flock or family. This breed will do best in a fully fenced yard as they will roam away if there is no fence. She is good with other dogs and will need some more leash work. She would be great with someone that knows the breed and loves it. She should have the natural tendencies of this breed. She had puppies and we adopted them out. We also adopted out the larger male that was found with her as a stray. She would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. She is up on her vaccines, healthy, spayed and ready for her forever home. She is currently in Texas anc can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is 300 and transport is 200. Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Online applications at www.ccpal.info/ See her cute video!!

Story
Meet Gunner and Luka! A bonded pair of sweethearts from Simsbury, CT, whose love for each other and their humans makes them the ultimate dynamic duo. Gunner, a six-year-old Great Pyrenees mix, is a big, gentle teddy bear with a soft black coat, hints of brindle, and a charming white patch on his chest. Luka, his seven-and-a-half-year-old Rottweiler mix brother, is a spirited little guy with a black-and-brown coat and irresistible "puppy dog" eyes that could win over even the toughest critic! Gunner is the calm, low-maintenance half of this duo. At 75 pounds, he’s the perfect companion for leisurely car rides, peaceful walks, and cozy evenings lounging by your side. He knows commands like “sit,” “walk,” and even “ride,” making him an easygoing friend who’s happy to adapt to your day. Gunner’s favorite pastime is simply being near his favorite humans—he’s the ultimate shadow dog, ready to follow you from room to room with quiet devotion. On the flip side, Luka is the playful firecracker who brings energy and joy to every moment! At 40 pounds, he loves playing fetch with a tennis ball, going on adventures, and indulging in belly rubs. Luka thrives on interaction and enjoys showing off his cheeky charm—especially when it earns him extra treats! Like Gunner, he’s house-trained, crate-trained, and knows commands like “sit” and “treat.” Though he can be a bit selective about his canine companions outside of Gunner, he’s wonderfully gentle with young children. Both boys are vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and ready to settle into a new loving home that will welcome them together. They’d do best in a family that can spend quality time with them, provide a fenced yard for Luka’s zoomies, and shower them with love and attention. While Gunner brings calm and cuddles, Luka adds fun and flair, making them the perfect pair to balance each other—and you! Ready to welcome these lovable brothers into your life? Gunner and Luka can’t wait to meet their new family! Could that be you? Contact adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about this inseparable duo!
