Story
Apollo has been described by my friends and pet sitters as the most loving dog they’ve met. Easy going, lover of a good rub, great companion, obedient… Apollo has never let me down ❤️ For 8 years (he was 2 months when I adopted him) he has been my buddy and has followed me in many adventures. But this time, Apollo has not adjusted well to the new environment, and it got to the point that I need him to feel safe. From Moving from suburbs of Texas to a big city has been too much for him, and unfortunately I don’t have an option. Looking for a family or person who will give him the same or even more of the love I gave him. He will be forever in my heart, but I can’t be selfish.

To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application   HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see   HERE   Age: 1.5 years (as of 6/20/24) Weight: 79 lbs (as of 10/30/24) Location: RI This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Lovey Sunshine is a beautiful Great Pyrenees mix who has found herself in need of a new home. This sweet, lovable mama was found pregnant and abandoned. Despite facing tough times, Lovey remains a shining example of resilience. She's friendly, outgoing, and incredibly affectionate. Lovey's puppies have all found loving homes, and now it's her turn She loves meeting new people, including kids, is friendly with other dogs and is tolerant of cats. She is currently in foster in a farm type environment and she has made friends with a horse. She does show some of the Pyreness traits of protection.  She will let someone know if there is someone on the property. She is housetrained, crate trained and walks pretty good on the leash but pulls a bit and would love to join you on a walk so she can get more practice. She is an affectionate girl that would love to be all yours! Basic group training classes is recommended to help her learn commands, socialize with other humans and dogs, as well as build that fur-ever bond with you! If you're ready to open your heart and home to this sweet girl, please reach out. Let's give Lovey the happily ever after she truly deserves! Lovey’s story: Abandoned by her previous owners when they moved away, this sweet, pregnant mom was left to fend for herself. Fortunately, a compassionate neighbor noticed Lovey's plight and began to feed her, but with puppies on the way, she knew Lovey needed more than just food—she needed a safe, loving environment to bring her babies into the world. That's when our southern rescue partner stepped in. Responding to the call for help, they put out an urgent plea for a foster. Answering the call, a kind-hearted foster family welcomed Lovey into their home. Just two days after her rescue, Lovey gave birth to 10 beautiful puppies, aptly named the Sunshine Litter. Medical Note: This dog is being treated/has been treated for heartworm disease.  Untreated heartworm disease can cause lasting damage to the heart, lungs and arteries, and can affect the dog’s health and quality of life even after the parasites are gone, possibly presenting as medical complications and/or new conditions in the future.  Whenever possible, SOSARL advocates for following the American Heartworm Society guidelines for heartworm disease treatment as the safest and most effective methods; the active portion of this treatment protocol can take up to four months to complete.  Once treatment is completed and the dog tests negative for microfilaria, the dog will be cleared to resume normal activity and will be ready to travel north and be placed into an adoptive home.  This dog showed no symptoms of heartworm disease before or during treatment and is expected to complete treatment with no complications.  Please ask your Adoption Counselor for the specific treatment protocol used for and current status of this dog.  Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see   HERE   for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website:   Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl.org)   **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. Story
This dog is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $200 if picked up in TN, $275 plus transport fee for out-of-state adoptions. Meet Simon, the happy and playful 1-year-old Great Pyrenees and Golden Retriever mix. Weighing in at 53 pounds, Simon has the size and goofy disposition of a Golden with the bark and fluff of a Pyrenees. He has a medium to high energy level for playtime but also knows how to relax. His big, silly grin and gentle pawing for pets will melt your heart. Simon's adorable habit of sleeping upside down in his crate with his legs in the air will surely make you smile. Simon knows a few commands, including "Sit," "Shake," and "Kennel." He has had no accidents in the house and will whine or bark in his crate when he needs to go outside. Though he may talk back a bit when first crated, he quickly relaxes and goes to sleep. Simon loves food, toys, and attention from his people. He enjoys wrestling and playing with other dogs, making him a fun and lively companion. He is good with other dogs who will accept his roughhousing play style, polite to cats, and although he hasn't met any kids yet, we think he would be fine with them. Simon walks okay on a leash and does not get car sick, making him a great companion for walks and car rides. His only quirk is his love for giving people full-body hugs, which not everyone will appreciate, but it's all part of his loving nature. Simon would thrive in a home with a family who can match his energy level and provide plenty of playtime and attention. If you’re looking for a playful, affectionate, and silly companion, Simon is the perfect addition to your family!  Interested in adopting? Story
Dutchess is a Great Pyr mix. 1 yo spayed. 65 lbs. She is great with kids, dogs and cats. She is potty trained and even though she is deaf she likes music!!! This beautiful girl was adopted in Texas after being found in sweltering heat at just 2 months old. Sadly her owner was diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing rigorous treatment and couldn't keep her so they let her go live with a friend who was to care for her. This didn't work out so well as they were letting her wander. Because this girl is deaf, for her safety was taken into animal control. If you are the person who could give this wonderful girl her true forever apply today!!! Thank you for choosing rescue.
