Story
Meet Indy, born on March 7, 2020! This big, loyal, lovable guy has a calm and gentle nature most of the time, making him a sweet companion who loves nothing more than sleeping, getting pets, and keeping an eye on things as a vigilant watchdog. He’s got a protective instinct and enjoys barking to let you know when something’s up. As much as he’s a sweetheart, he does come with a few challenges. He can be reactive to other dogs, bikes, cars on the leash. With some focused training, his leash reactivity can likely be improved, but he’ll need a committed person who can provide that guidance. Additionally, he has some resource-guarding issues. He may guard food, toys, or anything he "claims," and can become aggressive if he feels his space or possessions are threatened. This behavior has led to bites before, so he needs a new owner who’s both patient and willing to work with him on this aspect. Given time and consistent training, he has the potential to improve greatly.

Grits and determination!! That is the saying, right? To get anywhere you must have grits and determination?? Grits are good for you, ask any Southern mama :) You guessed it, my name is Grits and I have a LOT of determination! I came from the pound with HORRIFIC injuries related to a multiple dog attack :( And boy I was in pain and had horrible infections and was so so skinny and just sad... But the rescue peeps fixed me up! It took several weeks of LOVE, good nutrition, wound care and "heart repair" to return my zest for life and to see the glimmer of hope in my eyes... Now I am all fixed up, healthy and happy and READY for you!! Don't ever let me be out on the streets again, fighting off other dogs to live. Give me your COUCH, an air conditioner and lots of love and treats and I will be yours FUREVER!!! And speaking of fur, well, you know I am a Great Pyrenees and we SHED great amounts, so you must love me more than my hair!!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area, $50 temporary fuel fee will be included)

Story
Snow is a pretty typical name for a white dog.... but for me it is like a sweet cool breeze! Because I HAVE a NAME and LOVE to go with it!! You see, I was living in a home that didn't want me up until I arrived at the rescue several weeks ago. So, I didn't get a nice name, or a bed or love and hardly any food :( I am still shy at first but my life has changed so so much that I can't help but love everyone now :) I especially love other dogs and would be best in a home with another loving, confident dog. I will just need the love I have been craving, so if I look like your next family member then you better fill out the adoption application soon!! I can't wait to meet you :D Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)

DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Chili is 4yo, weighs 98lbs, is spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, and is microchipped.  Chili knows 'sit', 'come', 'stay', and 'paw'; she loves car rides but dislikes vacuums; Chili is with her family inside the home during the day and sleeps in her crate at nighttime in home as well.  Chili's guardian adds:  "We love her so much and this was a very difficult decision for my family - she deserves the world.  She is very low maintenance with the exception of her fur - She is a heavy shedding breed, but with a few brushes a week, it keeps it down drastically!  It's Chili glitter:).  With daily brushing, it is barely noticeable.  Chili loves being outside within a fenced yard - she LOVES chasing birds and is convinced she can catch them, lol.  Sometimes she will just lay and soak up the sun for hours before coming back inside." Chili's guardian explains why he has made the difficult decision to rehome her:  "We have had Chili since 8 weeks old, but due to recent health issues, as well as my grandmother I care for, I am looking for a family that has the time Chili deserves to continue loving her." Chili's guardian offers a brief a medical history:  Chili had ear infections during puppyhood and once in adulthood, which were resolved. Chili's guardian states the following regarding children:  Chili lives with children, currently ages 8 and 13, so her guardian recommends her living with children, stating "Friendly, excited at first then lays down.  Tolerates play and petting. Chili's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Although Chili has lived with a dog, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with dogs, stating... "When properly introduced, Chili is great!  I use the sit command as dogs pass and she is fine. I will say if the other dog barks or lunges FIRST Chili immediately responds and will bark, snap and lunge.  She does not have a lot of experience with new dogs as we did not have the opportunity to fully socialize her.  I do not suggest she be in a home with other dogs just because she has only been comfortable with the dogs she is used to within our extended family (that come over to visit).  I would prefer she be in a one-dog household only because I can't confidently vouch for how she would react living with an unfamiliar dog."      Chili's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Chili lives with cats, so her guardian recommends her living with cats, stating "Chili loves our cats (can't say they love her back, but they do tolerate her).  She sniffs and ignores them". Chili's guardian describes her as: Couch potato Barks alot Playful Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Always at your side Indoor dog House-Trained Crate-Trained Likes men Likes women Chili's guardian describes her ideal future home:  "Chili would do great with a single person, couple or family as the only resident dog.  She loves affection and interaction.  She truly thrives being a part of her home and it's daily activities." Story
Stunning Talulah!Introducing  Talulah!  (Descriptor: Stunning) This gorgeous polar bear is Talulah! She is a special girl looking for her special family and her special forever home!  Talulah is a stunning Great Pyrenees girl.  She is a little over a year old and weighs 70 pounds. She will likely become a bit larger. Talulah has a story in that she did not have a great beginning to her life.  She lived alone outside in an enclosure without any human interaction at all for the first year of her life. Despite that lonely existence, she has quickly settled into her foster home where she has been for the past two months and she is happy and thriving! She has decided that she is very much an indoor dog- she likes to play outside for a short time with her dog pals, then she will scratch at the door to come back inside. She had enough of the outdoor life and does not wish to return to it.   Once back in the house, she is a big fan of playing with her toys and lounging on her couch.  Talulah’s foster mom is working on building her confidence which was taken away from her in her previous home.  She feels safest playing inside and exploring the house slowly with her crate nearby and left open for her to retreat back into when she feels the need to be in her safe place.  She loves other dogs, large and small, and needs a home with at least one other dog. Her two best friends right now are a Bully breed and a Jack Russell, she is friends to all sizes of dogs.  She also does well with cats, sheep, and even a parrot!  She is learning to walk on a leash, but once she leaves the area where she is comfortable, she will become frightened – this is something her foster mom is working on but she may not ever love going for walks far from home. She currently walks around the neighborhood, and she is becoming more confident doing that. We realize that her acclimation to her new lifestyle  is not a quick process.  She is  slow to warm up to people, but when she does, she is the sweetest and will be sure to make you smile! She will paw you for attention and when she gets really excited, she zooms around you! Because of her sensitive nature, she would do best in a quiet and patient home without young children to give her the time she needs to really blossom!  Adoption requirements:  Talulah  can only go to a home with children 16 years or older. There will be no exceptions. A visible fence is required for adoption  approval for Talulah. Talulah must continue to be an indoor dog. The Pyrenees breed has some distinct characteristics: As a breed, they are independent thinkers; they aren’t naturally big, white golden retrievers looking to please.  Talulah must have training from a professional trainer  and have an adopter who will commit to reinforce her learning. Her long, thick fur will need brushing very often. Otherwise, there will be much shedding. Please research the breed to consider if the breed would be a fit for your family. Talulah’s adoption donation fee is $450 which includes vaccinations, spay and a microchip. If you are interested in meeting this one of a kind girl, please submit our Tara’s House adoption application!October 21, 2024, 8:45 pm
