Story
Chevy is a super nice, 90 pound, 3 year old female Great Pyrenees mix. She is, according to her DNA results, 70% Great Pyrenees and does have Pyrenees traits. The other 30% is 1-4% each of 11 different breeds. Will be happy to share those results with serious inquiries. She has a shorter coat with lots of color that will take less maintenance than a full Pyr coat. Chevy is very smart and more responsive and obedient than most purebred Great Pyrs. Chevy is fully vetted, house trained, walks well on leash, rides well in the car, and is sweet and gentle with adults and children. She is good with other dogs and would match up as a companion and playmate to a male her size. No chickens or cats. Chevy will be placed as a family companion with inside privileges. She loves people and affection. A securely fenced yard will be required. Adoption info and an adoption application can be found at gprci.com and questions can be emailed to gprci.info@gmail.com

Story
Wonky is a petite girl, estimated now at 8-9 months old, and is 60 pounds. She and her sister, Winky, were brought to the rescue by good samaritans who found them on the road in southern Illinois. Both sisters are timid but have made lots of progress. They get along well right now but are not overly attached to one another. We feel each would do best and progress faster in confidence and socialization being placed in a home with a well socialized resident dog as a companion. We would consider placing them together based on the experience and situation of the home. Wonky is shy but becoming more comfortable with being petted and given affection. She is now comfortable on leash/harness . She is going for her first formal groom this week. Wonky is a curious and playful pup. She will need a patient and understanding adopter willing to work with her shyness as well as the training all puppies need. A securely fenced yard will be required. Please email gprci.info@gmail.com with any questions. Adoption information and our adoption application can be found at gprci.com

Story
Winky is a petite girl, estimated now at 8-9 months old, and is 60 pounds. She and her sister, Wonky, were brought to the rescue by good samaritans who found them on the road in southern Illinois. Winky had a cavity in her face where her eye should have been. With our vet's examination, it was discovered her eyeball had been ruptured sometime previously and never addressed resulting in a dead and shriveled eye. Our vet successfully surgically removed the remnants of the eye and the site is healed with most of the fur now grown back. Both sisters are timid but have made lots of progress. They get along well right now but are not overly attached to one another. We feel each would do best and progress faster in confidence and socialization being placed in a home with a well socialized resident dog as a companion. We would consider placing them together based on the experience and situation of the home. Winky enjoys being petted and affection. She is now comfortable on leash/harness (although she does startle at times) and jumps right in the van. She had her first formal groom and handled that well. She is shy at first with new people and still fearful of unfamiliar situations. She will need a patient and understanding adopter willing to work with her shyness as well as the training all puppies need. A securely fenced yard will be required. Please email gprci.info@gmail.com with any questions. Adoption information and our adoption application can be found at gprci.com

Peach is very loyal and has a lot of energy! She loves going on car rides and playing with tennis balls in the backyard. She also enjoys chew treats and walks. Peach is a smart cookie and knows sit, paw, and down! At night, she can be found snuggling next to her foster dad. She would make a loving addition to the right home! All Pet Central animals are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, microchipped (registration included), and current on parasite prevention. Dogs over six-months of age are heartworm tested. When adopting, we will ensure that you receive copies of veterinary and microchip records. If you are interested in this pet, please fill out the brief Adopter Survey by hitting "Apply for Adoption" on the profile. After we review your completed survey we will contact you by phone or email within three business days. We're primarily a volunteer organization, so we appreciate your patience. Please note- Out of respect for our volunteers and staff, we are closed on Sundays and Mondays and will not be processing any applications on that day. Do get back to us right away when we call or email regarding an application so that we can quickly connect using the process below: Select a pet and submit an online adoption survey. A PCH adoption counselor will contact potential adopters within three business days (PCH cannot guarantee any pet's availability, but we make every effort to accommodate adopters with a reply and possible alternative suggestions). Counselor and client will then have a conversation to answer questions, discuss any medical needs for the pet and determine the suitability of a match (if necessary, we may opt to put adopters in touch with foster parents). After a match is made, clients will be asked to sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee online through our secure payment system *Please see our modified no-risk return policy. (below) The PCH adoption counselor will then set up a specific appointment time and location. Adopters should bring a pet carrier and leash to pick up. Adult pets will be wearing a collar. It is important that clients arrive on time, neither early nor late. If your adoption is scheduled at Pet Central Helps!: Upon arrival inside the Crossroads Center complex (360 Wylie Drive), look for the black Pet Central Helps! semi-trailer, which is right outside of our facility (Suite 720). Park in the parking lot and enter the facility. A PCH representative will greet you and show you to the adoption room. Your new pet will be handed to you. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at PetSmart: Park in the PetSmart Parking lot and enter the store. We will be set up just inside the store entrance. Let us know you are here to pick up your pet! A PCH representative will confirm your information and hand you your pet. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day photo with your pet and family. PCH supports a 21-day no-fault return policy in which adopters are given the opportunity to find a better match. If we are not able to provide advice/tools to keep a pet in the home we offer these options: Exchange for a pet that may be a better match** Receive a refund minus a $40 processing fee** With this approach, we can often turn mismatches into opportunities!
