I AM IN FOSTER CARE! PLEASE FILL OUT OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION, ONCE APPROVED, GIVE US A CALL OR SEND US AN EMAIL (INFO@ANIMALHOUSESHELTER.COM) AND WE CAN SET UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR YOU TO MEET ME! I am 89lbs, 8 years young, and l am looking for my forever home. Adoption Donation: $75 A note from my foster family: Frank loves to be outside and enjoys going for long walks. He is also very smart. He is fully housebroken, knows the commands sit and paw, and loves to catch treats in his mouth. He enjoys tug-o-war and never looses! Frank has done well with some dogs primarily females close to his size. He would do best in a family with children 13 + and no cats. If you are looking for a walking buddy Frank is your guy. All dogs are microchipped, neutered, current on all vaccines, heartworm tested (if age appropriate), and up to date on preventatives at the time of adoption. All household members and any dogs from the household need to be present at the time of your appointment. A photo ID will be required at the time of adoption. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. **If you are interested in being considered for this dog, please be sure to complete an application directly on our website - not through a 3rd party service.* Welcome Chance to HWMAR!  She is a 6 month old, 32lb, spayed Great Pyrenees Mix who, just like her name says, is looking for her chance at a loving forever home.  Chance was a local girl, who was surrendered due to the owners not being able to care for her properly.  Chance has a facial deformity, but she does not even realize it and is a typical  puppy.   (Approved adopters will speak with a member of our medical team prior to meeting to better understand her condition).   Chance is a good girl with typical big puppy energy. She loves playing with her canine foster siblings.  She would do best in a home with another confident dog, since she has gained so much confidence with her current siblings.  Her foster parents describe her as friendly, energetic, affectionate and a quick learner.  Chance has not been exposed to cats and children should be of the larger, sturdy variety, as Chance is still learning that she cannot jump on people to greet them.    Chance is housebroken and crate trained (She does sleep and eat in it), however she has earned free roam of her foster home when her parents are out of the house, and she has been very good and not done anything she is not supposed to. She enjoys car rides, and is learning how to properly walk on leash. She currently sleeps and eats in her crate.  Chance also likes to make sure you spend as much time at home as possible, by gently relocating your shoes to a different location, making it impossible for you to leave. She knows that shoes are expensive and not to be destroyed, but who doesn’t enjoy a little game of “Where is my other shoe?”. Chance’s list of must have for her forever home are as follows:  Love. A 6ft fenced in yard, or electric fence.  True to her breed, she can jump high and escape quickly. Love.  A fur sibling to continue to improve her confidence. Love.  A diet of wet/soft foods while she is still growing.  Love. An experienced adopter who will continue / expand on training with her.  Love.  Chance’s adoption fee is $400 and includes her age appropriate vaccinations and microchip *HWMAR presents the information in these bios based on our foster observations and any information presented to us regarding prior living conditions, breed specifications. While we aim to be as accurate as possible, each animal is individual and their behaviors and personalities can change in different surroundings.  HWMAR holds no guarantees to personality, behavior or breed*   Please review our adoption process & complete an application on our website -  www.hoofwoofmeow.org/adoption   We adopt within 150 mile radius of Elgin, IL **We are a 100% volunteer rescue.  All of our dogs are in Foster Homes**Submission of an application does not guarantee adoption of any specific animal as they may have applications pending or might not be the right match for you** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 3, 2024, 11:17 pm

Story
We adopted Astrid at 10 weeks old from a rescue. She is now 1 yr and 2 months old. She's a lively, energetic, and loving dog. She knows a lot of commands, completed puppy training, and sleeps in a crate at night. Her ideal new home would include another dog to play with. With our schedule and small living space, we can't get another dog. Ideally she'd have a yard with a lot of space to run and play, or someone who would take her to a park or doggy daycare at least 1-2x/wk. She loves her toys and being outside. She hasn't interacted much with kids and gets nervous around them but could warm up to them with time. We have 2 cats she gets along with and tries to play with sometimes. Astrid loves people and shows her affection through physical touch. She loves leaning on people or laying on or next to them on the couch or in bed. We want her to have the best life with a doggy companion or an active family who will love her as much as she'll love them.

Story
Meet Nellie Nellie, a Great Pyrenees, joined BAARK when her owner was no longer able to care for himself, much less her. As such, she was in pretty rough physical condition when she was surrendered, but clearly had received plenty of attention and love. Nellie is estimated to be 7-8 years old and weighs about 80 lbs. When meeting new people, Nellie is a little shy at first. We believe that this is because she had very little exposure to new people when with her previous owner. However, in her foster home, with patience and, in following the lead of her new canine friends, Nellie has really blossomed. She now gives kisses and lots of tail wags when her foster mom and dad get home from work. She gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes and would probably do well with a cat as well based on her calm demeanor. In typical Great Pyr fashion, she loves patrolling the fence line and she is especially in tune to large birds flying overhead. Her foster family appreciates her level of alert, as Nellie watches over her much smaller foster brother and sisters in the home. Nellie is housebroken and is just fine being un-crated at home by herself. Nellie joined our rescue organization back in June. She is just becoming available for adoption as she has a long recovery from a mass removal on her paw pad (benign). She has 3 toes on that paw but gets around just fine. Nellie is in overall great health. She’s spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on preventative. If you are interested in adding this wonderful senior to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895.
