Story
We took Yeti in from a friend at 4 months old as his original owner backed out of taking him. He is a sweet boy, potty trained, but a big chewer and barker. We have tried everything these past 10 months to keep him from chewing and barking - with very little luck. He has soooooo many toys to chew on yet he still prefers more than toys. He needs a large yard that he can roam/protect/bark all he wants without neighbors getting upset. We have 2 other dogs (the brindles in the picture) that he gets along with great. We also have 3 cats, one which thinks she's a dog so she'll play with him (the other 2 are anti dogs). He is very reluctant to car rides. I've tried several times since we got him, with no luck. My husband has to pick him up and take him to the truck - hence why no vaccines more than Rabies and what our friend did prior to obtaining him. He also became a dad at less then a year old.... our brindle female went into heat 3 months early and well now I have 3 puppies as well.

Story
Sika is a 6 year old Great Pyranees Catahoula leopard dog mix who comes with a personality to match. She is a true Pyrenees with the drive of a Catahoula. She loves patrolling the yard / house and will be vocal when things are amiss. She would do well as a 70/30 indoor outdoor dog as she loves to be outside but is accustomed to coming in for water food and nighttime. She is snuggly and oh so soft but will likely want to lay somewhere cool like tile flooring or a bath tub. She loves playing catch with a ball or frisbee! She would do better as an only dog or with other male dogs as her breeds are not comparable with other females it seems. We would like her to go to a home who’s familiar with the breeds as her behaviors are special and we believe should be treated as such. A home without kids or with older kids is preferred. She is accustomed toddlers who know to leave her be and has not been left alone with children due to the high drive of her breeds. Please ask any questions!

Story
Hi, I’m Cooper! I’m a 2 year old 60lb Great Pyrenees mix. I’m quiet (my foster has never heard me make a single peep!), perfectly crate trained, potty trained, & pretty good on a leash (I sometimes need help not going after bunnies, squirrels, birds, & other little nature animals. Also loud outdoor noises, like motorcycles & skateboards, make me nervous & I need my person to help me remember that everything’s okay). I like being given time to sniff on my walks. I LOVE snuggling with my people & getting scratches, those are my favorite things! I’m a huge lover & I am so kind to my humans. I’m always gently asking for more attention & my foster says it’s so sweet. I’m great with other dogs after having slow introductions to them. I think that I would do best with medium to large dogs who aren’t jumping in my face all of the time, but who still like to run around & play. I do NOT get along with kitties. No matter what, I can’t live with cats. I have excellent manners, just please put all the food away because it tempts me too much. I have the slightest underbite & my foster said it’s so goofy & cute! If all of this works for you & you are gentle, patient, & devoted to giving me lots of attention & love, please adopt me!!! ##2319550##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ruby was transferred to Pyrescue from the Humane Society in Hays, KS  Ruby had been at the shelter for quite a while with not much interest  Ruby is said to be shy at first but once she trusts you she is a big love bug.  She likes to sit with her family and snooze the day away! In her previous home she was said to escape her kennel and go exploring, therefore, Ruby's yard will need very secure fencing.  Ruby is NOT good with cats.  She can be a bit nervous around men, her future adopters will need to be patient to gain her trust.  Potential adopters may do best to schedule a few meet and greets so she can get to know you and feel more comfortable and to facilitate the transition to her new home. Ruby has had some basic training and knows "sit" and "stay". Ruby is known to be an escape artist, therefore, will need TALL above ground fencing, preferably 6 foot. She can climb fences as well! Fence may need to include hot wire. NO UNDERGROUND FENCING! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.LOOKING FOR SPECIAL ADOPTER! Obi is a beautiful 4 year old boy who was surrendered to the rescue in April 2022 due to resource guarding (food, treats, high value toys) and fear of unfamiliar people. (These behaviors are actually not uncommon with livestock guardian breeds, and normally resolve with maturity and owners learning how to best help the dog through this phase.) After arrival, Obi slowly formed good relations with multiple staff members. In the summer of 2023, he began developing severe scabbing, primarily on his nose, above his eyes, and on the edges of his ears. As this got worse, he began to show increasing irritability when interacting with people. This was most likely a result of pain from the lesions on his nose. After several visits to the vet, he was diagnosed as having DISCOID (CUTANEOUS) LUPUS ERYTHEMATOSUS and was started on a higher dose of Prednisone tablets, gradually tapering to a lower maintenance dose. The scabs have been steadily resolving, and Obi's behavior has improved tremendously. Although he has improved significantly, this condition can possibly flare up throughout his lifetime, requiring occasional veterinary follow-up for medication adjustments. We now believe we can begin searching for his perfect forever home. ONCE HE LEARNS HE CAN TRUST SOMEONE, OBI IS A WONDERFUL BOY WHO LOVES TUMMY RUBS, GOING FOR WALKS AND CAR RIDES, AND SHORT PLAY SESSIONS. TO HAVE THE BEST CHANCE OF A SUCCESSFUL ADOPTION, Obi probably needs a quieter home. If children are present, they should be older, calmer, and able to learn how to watch his body language and give him space when he indicates he is uncomfortable. He has gotten along with some other dogs while at the rescue, as long as they are not too energetic and are good at backing off if he indicates he is done playing. Adopter should live in their own house (no townhouses, condos, or apartments) with a minimum of a six-foot high, solid fence (wood or PVC). Experience with Great Pyrenees and dogs who have trust issues is a plus. We think it would be better if the adopter LIVES IN THE COLORADO SPRINGS/PEYTON AREA AND/OR BE WILLING TO COME OUT TO THE RESCUE A MINIMUM OF ONCE A WEEK TO SPEND 1:1 TIME WITH OBI TO GET TO KNOW HIM, LEARN HOW TO READ HIS BODY LANGUAGE, AND EARN HIS TRUST PRIOR TO DECIDING IF OBI IS THE DOG FOR THEM. THIS MAY TAKE MULTIPLE VISITS OVER SEVERAL WEEKS. RESCUE STAFF WILL HELP PROVIDE TRAINING TO ASSIST THE POTENTIAL ADOPTER(S) DURING THIS TIME. If you think you might be the person who can give Obi his forever home, please complete the adoption application on the home page. We will contact you and provide more detailed information.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 9, 2025, 5:36 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. COURTESY POST Boeing is an owner surrender, currently residing at the owners home NW of Fort Collins, CO Boeing's info: Boeing came to be a part of our family in December 2023. He is very sweet and gets along with other dogs, cats and watches over our chickens. He’s not much of a toy chaser but will sit and shake on command, which is more than most Great Pyrenees dogs! He will go straight in his kennel when told to go to bed. Of course, this is rewarded with a small good night treat. For some reason he doesn’t typically like people wearing hats and will bark at them. He has never growled or bitten anyone and is around adults, children and our groomer. He travels well. He immediately lays down in the car on the way to the groomer. He does put up a fuss when getting his nails trimmed. He is neutered and has had his dewclaws removed. We are trying to rehome him due to my health issues. He needs more walks and brushing than what my health issues will allow even though he has plenty of room to roam with us.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 27, 2025, 7:30 pm
