Story
Sneezy Hey, I’m Sneezy, and while I may be part of the Dwarves litter, I think my name should’ve been Serene. I’m a Great Pyrenees girl, and I’m much more reserved than my foster siblings. I’m happy playing with them when I feel like it, but I don’t always join in the games. I’m perfectly fine being off on my own and can handle some alone time without fuss. When my foster picks me up, I press against them, wrap my paws tightly around their arm, and tuck my head under their chin—it makes me feel safe and loved. I don’t need a crate, and I’m content in my small enclosure when left alone. My sleep style? Completely sprawled out like I’m playing dead. I’ve met kids, older folks, and other dogs, and I’m a gentle girl with everyone. If you’re looking for a sweet, independent pup who will melt into you when held, I might just be your perfect match.   All dogs/puppies will be spayed/neutered unless spay/neuter contract is signed with additional deposit. blue collar All dogs/puppies will be spayed/neutered unless spay/neuter contract is signed with additional deposit.   This sweet Great Pyrenees puppy brings joy and excitement wherever she goes. Curious, courageous and playful, she loves nothing more than engaging her twin sister or her big Great Pyrenees foster brother in energetic play sessions. Her sister is always down to play, her foster bother not so much but that will not discourage her. When you arrive, expect an enthusiastic greeting as Grumpy bounds over to shower you with affection. After burning off her puppy energy with fun playtime, she will happily crashing out beside you for some heart warming snuggle time. Grumpy combines the classic Great Pyrenees gentle temperament with puppy playfulness, making her the perfect addition to an oving home. If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will fill your days with both adventure and tender moments, Grumpy is waiting to meet you! Story
No kids for Finn. He needs a predictable environment and to stay home with adults, and mostly being an outdoor dog. People with some land and with a lot of experience with the breed as well as patience to let Finn adjust in a calm home environment. No hovering - hugging- pushing or pulling until a significant amount of time has past for his comfort and adjustment. SLOW and steady for Finn, he needs to build trust, he is a friendly, beguiling fellow, but has territorial issues, and some handling issues to where he doesn't like strangers hugging him and that kind of thing. A life outdoors with a covered, protected area and people going about their days, he will follow around, engage, tail wagging and happy! He is intelligent, and knows how to "Sit," "Shake" and "Down." He is good with other dogs, and loves to play.

Story
Sanctuary Notes on Savanna: Savanna was nicknamed Smiley, as when she first came to us she would watch us with interest and a big smile on her face. She came in with a group of seven other pyrs from the neglectful situation described below. I thought for sure that she would be the first to warm up to us as she seemed to have the most confidence and did not seem as fearful as the others, but she would always keep her distance, playfully smiling at me from behind a tree. We now have them in an area with access to indoors and outdoors in our main building, where they are getting used to seeing us all throughout the day. We have found that although Savanna seems to be adventurous and inquisitive, she is still unwilling to let us actually pet her and will skip away last minute. Because of this we are going to switch gears and give her and Leo more undivided one on one attention to help her past this hurdle. She will happily stand at arms length from me, smiling and eat treats, but gets confused when we reach out to make physical contact as this was not likely the norm in her last "home" We have high hopes that we will have the needed breakthrough with Savanna, and would love a specific patient foster home to help her get there! Group notes: Milo took in seven beautiful yet under-socialized Pyrenees that had been seized from a hoarding situation, but were then set for euthanasia due to lack of space at the shelter. We have been working with them to gain their trust as they were not raised as family members, and some are making great strides. Because of this, they are looking for very patient, understanding and rural homes that will continue to work with them to help them to realize their full potential. None of these dogs have ever bitten anyone and even the most fearful will run and bark when scared or unsure of a situation rather than show outward aggression. They had not been raised walking on a leash and were living in a large fenced area together which they had never left and were used for breeding, cared for by a man with mental illness until seized by animal control for neglect. Because they were not raised with livestock ( and do show a prey drive towards cats) they would not be a good choice for someone looking to have them guard animals on a farm, and because they were not raised in a home, they do not understand commands etc, but they do prefer to go potty outside and are loving sleeping on cozy beds. They will follow direction when a routine is established and will go inside or out as a group when asked. They do love each other and will bound around and play, but we do not know how they would do with other dogs given that Pyrenees imprint with the animals that they are raised with and these guys can get worked up as a group when there is a dog unknown to them outside the fence, for this reason if there is another dog in the home their interactions would have to be closely monitored in order to make sure that they are a safe fit together. From what we have seen, they are open and excepting of puppies even if outside the family group, but again supervision would be key! If you are willing and able to help one of these gorgeous dogs, please send applications to foster or adopt to sanctuary@milofoundation.org Thank you for considering adoption of a Milo Foundation Sanctuary dog. Our Sanctuary is where our rescued dogs who have had difficulty in a home in the past, have behavioural issues, or too much energy, or for some, aggression issues with other dogs, or intense stranger danger that make them more difficult to safely and happily live in urban environments. These are not beginner dogs or for the most part nor are they for families with children. IF you are looking for an easy dog to add to your family, we suggest looking at the dogs at our Adoption Center, Milo Pt Richmond. BUT, if you can offer a safe and nurturing home to a dog with some behavioral "quirks" please do send an application today. Thank you. Adoption fee is sponsored by a generous young woman to go to the right home!

Story
Odie is a sweet love bug but he needs an owner who is going to work with him to provide reassurance in training and have the patience and time to introduce him slowly to new things. While he is initially nervous around new dogs and he may bark or growl, he also play bows with a happy wagging tail. This is not uncommon in a stray who's had to find his way on the streets. A little reassurance and more socialization with friendly dogs will be helpful to get him over his concerns. He cannot be around small animals as he does have prey drive. He needs a rural setting to live in as he would not do well in a urban or city environment.

A tad shy, inexperienced, ready to gain courage and security, and will be loyal and loving companions. Moose and Honey are not nearly as big as Great Pyrs, they may be a 1/4 Pyr, or a 1/2 tops.... they are very light-hearted and silly when outside playing, they are not used to leashes or urban situations and are likely going to be more comfortable in rural or suburban homes with plenty outdoor space and time - and people and other animals....a mellow lifestyle, basking in sunshine and belly rubs!

Story
3/10/22: Nova now needs a new experienced foster home or forever home as the only dog. She did great with adopter's 2 adult dogs but now at 9 mos. old she wants to the top alpha dog at home. With her people she is very sweet smart attentive treat motivated and loves snuggling. She needs to be the only dog in home. No other dog or cats in home. From her foster/adopters: She is a big active girl who loves walks playing fetch and splashing around in her kiddie pool. Nova was originally adopted by her foster family who have had her since she was 9 weeks old and absolutely adore her. Unfortunately despite growing up with their other dogs and doing great with them as a small puppy as she grew to be the largest member of the pack she became reactive toward other dogs. Her family has worked with trainers on this issue. She is a very smart girl and is improving in public settings. Unfortunately Nova is just not well-suited for life in a multi-dog household. Nova is cuddly and lovable with her people. She is a highly trainable girl as she is very food-motivated and a fast learner. She has been through puppy training and excelled in agility activities. She does well in a crate. Nova is a sweet girl who just needs some solo attention. She would do well with an experienced handler in a home with no other animals or small children. See her current photos! Below is from Nova's original posting in 2021: We took in Nova from a kind lady that rescued her mom from a field in Bakersfield. Mom was starved and very skinny. Most likely dumped. Soon mom gave birth to one puppy. The guardian took her mom to her vet and had x-rays done and no other pups. Nova is very special. Lady that found her already has 2 dogs (one senior dog with medical needs) and busy work schedule so she asked us to take in Nova to ensure her puppy training care and socials. Nova is doing great at her foster home. She has huge paws double rare dew claws fluffy and very sweet. Not sure what breed mix she is. Mom is 60 lbs and very sweet. She will need a home with yard prefer another dog at home and experience with large dogs. Nova will be ready in 2-3 weeks after all her vet care. More info. to come. 8/21/21 update: It took her 4-5 days to start playing with foster home's dog. Will chase the ball and chewing. Does like to dig. Loves food and treats. Going out to yard for potty biz and few accidents inside.February 10, 2025, 1:16 pm
