I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog J:7Meet Wyoming, the gentle giant with a heart as big as his fluffy coat! This 4-year-old Great Pyrenees mix may be a bit shy at first, but once he warms up, he’s all about gentle pets and sweet companionship. A little underweight at 63 pounds, Wyoming enjoys his walks and takes treats like a pro. He has a calm demeanor and stays neutral around other dogs—he just likes to keep to himself or hang out with doggy friends who share his chill vibe. Wyoming is ready to find a patient, loving home where he can gain confidence and thrive. He’ll need a little time to adjust, but with the right people by his side, he’ll show you just how sweet and loyal he can be. If you’re looking for a serene, affectionate companion who’s ready to take things at his own pace, Wyoming could be a great match!         View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Oakland Animal Services (OAS) (@oaklandanimalservices)  January 31, 2025, 1:45 pm

Story
3/10/22: Nova now needs a new experienced foster home or forever home as the only dog. She did great with adopter's 2 adult dogs but now at 9 mos. old she wants to the top alpha dog at home. With her people she is very sweet smart attentive treat motivated and loves snuggling. She needs to be the only dog in home. No other dog or cats in home. From her foster/adopters: She is a big active girl who loves walks playing fetch and splashing around in her kiddie pool. Nova was originally adopted by her foster family who have had her since she was 9 weeks old and absolutely adore her. Unfortunately despite growing up with their other dogs and doing great with them as a small puppy as she grew to be the largest member of the pack she became reactive toward other dogs. Her family has worked with trainers on this issue. She is a very smart girl and is improving in public settings. Unfortunately Nova is just not well-suited for life in a multi-dog household. Nova is cuddly and lovable with her people. She is a highly trainable girl as she is very food-motivated and a fast learner. She has been through puppy training and excelled in agility activities. She does well in a crate. Nova is a sweet girl who just needs some solo attention. She would do well with an experienced handler in a home with no other animals or small children. https://photos.app.goo.gl/ejWd5yRDRpNBCQCt8 Below is from Nova's original posting in 2021: We took in Nova from a kind lady that rescued her mom from a field in Bakersfield. Mom was starved and very skinny. Most likely dumped. Soon mom gave birth to one puppy. The guardian took her mom to her vet and had x-rays done and no other pups. Nova is very special. Lady that found her already has 2 dogs (one senior dog with medical needs) and busy work schedule so she asked us to take in Nova to ensure her puppy training care and socials. Nova is doing great at her foster home. She has huge paws double rare dew claws fluffy and very sweet. Not sure what breed mix she is. Mom is 60 lbs and very sweet. She will need a home with yard prefer another dog at home and experience with large dogs. Nova will be ready in 2-3 weeks after all her vet care. More info. to come. 8/21/21 update: It took her 4-5 days to start playing with foster home's dog. Will chase the ball and chewing. Does like to dig. Loves food and treats. Going out to yard for potty biz and few accidents inside.November 4, 2024, 2:12 pm

Story
Hi, I am Sawyer! I am a smart, playful and loving 4-year-old Great Pyrenees mix. I love hanging outside, being near my humans, relaxing, hikes, walks, belly rubs, playing tug, and chase. I am a well-behaved boy, but I'm sensitive and can get anxious at times. Although I am such a sweet boy who also loves to cuddle (especially in bed with my humans for as long as possible in the morning), my best living environment does not include children or other pets. I am dog selective and with proper introductions and boundaries I can be around other dogs (I am currently in a dog walking group). But, at the end of the day, I just want to relax with the adults and be their #1. In my current living situation, there is a crawling baby whose unpredictable nature makes me anxious. If you are an experienced dog owner looking for a loyal, sweet boy, you just found me!

Story
No kids for Finn. He needs a predictable environment and to stay home with adults, and mostly being an outdoor dog. People with some land and with a lot of experience with the breed as well as patience to let Finn adjust in a calm home environment. No hovering - hugging- pushing or pulling until a significant amount of time has past for his comfort and adjustment. SLOW and steady for Finn, he needs to build trust, he is a friendly, beguiling fellow, but has territorial issues, and some handling issues to where he doesn't like strangers hugging him and that kind of thing. A life outdoors with a covered, protected area and people going about their days, he will follow around, engage, tail wagging and happy! He is intelligent, and knows how to "Sit," "Shake" and "Down." He is good with other dogs, and loves to play.
