Story
UPDATE!! &#226&#156&#168 Meet Ariel! She was owner surrendered to us recently. She’s a gorgeous Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix! She’s 7 months and a sweet but shy girl. She’s great with other dogs and has grown up around farm animals but is shy of people — not aggressive at all — until she gets to know them! She is really coming out of her shell since arriving at her foster home. She’s learning to be a real dog. She’s loving sunbathing in the grass and all her toys. She’s around 65lbs but likely should be close to 80lbs. She will complete her vetting and be spayed 12/4/24! Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals.  All dogs have a $175 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies will be altered before adoption. All rescues and shelters practice pediatric spay and neuter. This is essential in our rescue efforts and it is a policy that we will stick by. All dogs over 8 weeks and 2 pounds will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this rule on all healthy and adoptable dogs. We have researched and discussed in depth with multiple vets everything on pediatric spay and neuter and from a rescue stand point it must be done. Please do not ask for an extension on spay and neutering, it will NOT be granted on a healthy puppy!  Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. Deposits can ONLY be submitted once the rescue has been in contact on your approval and it has been requested through Wags and Whiskers. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $125 is due at pick up. Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications! Story
Asta is a sweet, loving, fluffy derp that completely embodies her breed. She is high energy and stubborn but very intelligent and cuddly. She has been raised in a house with other dogs and gets along well with them but she is not a good judge of how carefully to play with much smaller dogs. Because of her energy levels and her human's physical limitations she is not getting enough exercise and stimulation which is causing tension in the home and is unfair to her. A perfect home for Asta would be somewhere with a lot of outside space to play, and preferably a "job" to do. She is a guardian breed and needs a herd, be that goats, chickens, or children. New home should have been experienced with larger dogs and preferably with this breed. Not a good dog for a first time pet owner. Asta is unaltered, giant breeds are recommended to not be fixed before their second heat. Asta is my favorite dog, this was a difficult choice, but her needs are not being met with us. Please love her for me!
