Story
We all know the classic song, “Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver, well if Kindrow had a theme song, that would be it. He loves everything about country life - from the wide open spaces, the slower paced lifestyle, the early morning sounds of farm animals, the smell of fresh dew covered grass, and the simplicity of it all. We didn’t know this about Kindrow until he went to his current foster’s house; who lives on property out in the country. It’s like Kindrow had some country roots that we didn’t know about because he acts like he’s been living the simple farm life his entire life. Hence the theme song and nickname “kickback country boy,” because that’s exactly what he is and the best way to describe him. Kindrow is more than that though, he’s your best friend and the sidekick you never knew you needed. Watch his video and you’ll be clicking on that adoption link at the end of it: https://youtu.be/Wjc8DaDIUYs?si=ngyBEd9WFlDqbbrH Kindrow is tall with a big blocky head, we think he may be a Great Dane, Mastiff, Boxer mix of some sort. He is a rescue, so these are just our best guesses. Don’t let his size fool you, Kindrow is a big softie and currently weighs in at just 74 pounds. We estimate his age to be around 1 and a half years old. The morning’s are peaceful with Kindrow, he’ll snuggle with you all night in bed, never once getting up or stirring. Even if you want to sleep in he’s not rushing to get out of bed. Next you’re in the kitchen making yourself a pot of coffee and you look out the window and see Kindrow laying out on the patio as the sun is rising waiting for you to start the day. Kindrow is currently being fostered on a farm with horses and other neighboring farm animals such as chickens, ducks, and cows and is not bothered by any of them or causing a ruckus. During the day, Kindrow can be found trotting alongside his foster while he tends to the animals or is doing chores around the property. All while being off leash and never straying too far from sight or he’s walking side by side with him. He joins his foster on trips into town while he runs errands, sitting shotgun enjoying the car ride and just being with is person. Kindrow is also a good boy when he has to stay behind if his foster can’t take him. His foster has a doggy camera and says that Kindrow will either be looking out the window waiting patiently for him to return or he’ll go and lay down on the couch or his doggy bed. His foster also shared that he’s never had to talk to him through the camera to get his attention because he was getting into something he shouldn’t have been. He just relaxes or takes a nap and waits for him to return home or he’s playing with one of his stuffy toys keeping himself entertained. Kindrow doesn’t mind being kenneled either if that is what you prefer. He doesn’t try to get out and has been able to go 7-8 hours without any potty breaks with no accidents. When it’s time for bed, Kindrow will even wait to be invited onto the bed once you're all cozy so that way you’re not finding yourself playing tug of war with the covers. He’s such a mindful gentleman and a great housemate. Kindrow is a gentle guy who has spent plenty of time around younger children, even as young as 4 years old, and does just with them. While he’s good-natured and tolerant of the occasional squeal or quick movements from younger children, he tends to prefer the company of older kids. Older children, around 14 and up are more in tune with his boundaries, they understand when he needs space and can respect his need for a little calm time. He also enjoys more engaging and thoughtful playtime in the yard with older kids such as fetch and running around playing a game of tag your it. His preference for older children reflects his love for a calmer, more laidback lifestyle. He would be great in a home with 1-2 kids ages 14 and up or if you don't have kids in the home and have grandchildren or friends that have younger kids that come and visit, Kindrow will be completely happy with that too because it is not an everyday thing. Kindrow is dog friendly and has been around dogs of all sizes and temperaments. He does best with medium energy submissive females that have a more gentle playstyle that aren’t all about play all the time. He loves to run around with doggy friends, play chase and appreciates those chill hangout moments in the yard. Kindrow has also been a gentle friend around small dogs as well! He’s mindful of his size around littles and when he’s zooming around he is sure to never get too close where he might accidentally bump into them or step on them. He met our small dog Mateo who is only about 12 lbs and absolutely loved him! Mateo was a little shy at first due to Kindrow’s size and Mateo would give him a verbal correction letting Kindrow know he was not ready for play yet and Kindrow fully respected him. Once Mateo felt more comfortable, the two of them were running around in the yard having the time of their lives. They shared toys with each other, treats, the couch, and affection with each other. It was a match made in heaven. When it comes to kitties, Kindrow would do best in a home without a cat. He somehow knows there is a difference between chickens and cats and to him, chickens are friends but cats are not. He’s very smart as well! Kindrow knows basic commands such as sit, walks well on a leash, is treat motivated, and eager to please. Making any additional training that you want to do that much more enjoyable for the both of you. Kindrow is a loyal guy and will love the bonding experience the two of you will share during those training sessions. So If your days are filled with fishing at the pond, gathering around a firepit, working on the land, taking a walk in the woods, driving around on those back country roads, or simply watching the sun dip below the horizon; Kindrow is the pup for you! He has even been known to sit back, relax and watch your favorite show with you. Kindrow truly is one of a kind, that checks off all of the boxes. We are willing to test Kindrow with anything you need us to in order to ensure he’s the perfect match for you! We can make most anything happen! Just let us know. Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!
