Story
LOCATION: Medford, NYDOB: 11/15/2019Are you in the market for a dog who believes that no lap is too small for a Great Dane-sized cuddle? Meet Lilly, the dog who’s convinced that she’s the perfect fit for your lap—whether reality agrees or not. At 75 pounds, this sweet, snuggly girl may think she's a lap dog, but her heart is even bigger than her adorable frame. Lilly is a professional snuggler who will happily attempt to be your personal weighted blanket, keeping you cozy with her warm, loving presence.Lilly’s energy knows no bounds, and she’s a true playtime enthusiast, especially when romping with her foster siblings. However, her play style is on the enthusiastic side, so smaller dogs might not be able to keep up with her zest for life. She also loves her walks and is always ready to be your certified walking buddy, happily accompanying you on any adventure, no matter how big or small.Though Lilly may be a bit shy at first—especially with men—once she trusts you, she’s an absolute love bug. She’ll shower you with affection, and if you're lucky enough to win her trust, you’re in for a lifetime of devotion. She’s also a bit of a Houdini when it comes to her crate. While she is crate-trained, Lilly prefers a little more freedom and has been known to get creative with her “exits.” If you leave her alone, she’ll happily make her way to the couch for a nap, awaiting your return.Lilly is friendly with cats but will happily chase them if they run, so she’s better suited for a home where feline friends are comfortable with her playful antics. Because of her exuberance, she’s best with larger dogs and older children who can match her playful energy and help keep her in check. Lilly’s ideal home would include a family who can provide her with plenty of love, affection, and a little extra room to stretch out on the couch (or your lap!).Lilly has had a rough past, being bred unethically, but she’s overcome her challenges with resilience and grace. She’s had one unexplained seizure (which has never happened again), suffers from anxiety that’s managed with medication, and experienced a traumatic tail injury that led to it being docked. She also takes medication daily for incontinence. Despite these hurdles, Lilly is a bright, happy girl who deserves the best family to call her own.Are you ready to welcome this goofy, lovable sidekick into your home? Lilly is waiting to shower you with all the love and snuggles she has to give—she’s ready to be your forever companion!Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match! Story
LOCATION: Etters, PADOB: 07/19/2019Bubba is a gentle, sensitive Great Dane who is still learning that people can be kind. When he first arrived, he was timid and cautious, clearly carrying the weight of a rough past. Over time, he has started to show his sweet and goofy sides, especially when he’s with other dogs. Bubba feels most comfortable when he has canine friends around—he is respectful and playful with dogs of all ages and sizes, and he truly blossoms when he has a companion by his side.Outdoors is his happy place. He loves to roam the yard, run with the other dogs, or quietly watch the world from behind a shed or in his dog house. Indoors is harder for him, but he finds comfort in his kennel and sleeps peacefully through the night. Each morning feels like a fresh start, and with patience, you’ll see him warm up again as the day goes on. Bubba has even begun to find his voice—sometimes howling when left outside alone at night or “talking” at the back door when he wants some company.Despite his shyness, Bubba has the most tender personality. He leans into back scratches, runs and plays with a horse-like gait, and surprises his foster family with little glimpses of silliness that will make you smile. He startles easily with loud noises or sudden movements, and he isn’t a fan of car rides, but he tolerates them when needed. He’s still learning to trust people and may never be a dog who cuddles on the couch, but his gentle spirit and quiet presence are deeply endearing.Bubba is crate-trained, learning leash skills, and doing well with the routine at his foster home. He hasn’t shown much interest in chickens and may be fine with cats, though he hasn’t lived with them. He would do best in a calm home with no small children, a securely fenced yard, and another friendly dog to help him feel safe. His ideal family will be patient, understanding, and willing to let him progress at his own pace.If you’re looking for a dog who will touch your heart with his resilience, reward your kindness with trust, and bring gentle joy to your days, Bubba is waiting for you.========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match! Story
LOCATION: Houston, TXDOB: 06/21/2022Meet Becky Rose – a tall, dark, and goofy beauty with a striking black coat, a splash of white on her chest, and a personality that’s anything but ordinary. She’s smart, hilarious, loyal to a fault, and just a little bit extra—in all the best ways.Becky Rose is bilingual (yes, really—English and Spanish), potty trained, and has mastered the dog door like a pro. She’s not a fan of the crate, but she’s trained to go to her bed when told and is working on polite mealtime manners (she’ll sit and offer a paw for her food—unless she’s really hungry). And while she’ll lovingly let you wipe her butt after bathroom breaks, she draws the line at giving up her beloved giraffe stuffy—every other plush toy is fair game, though. This girl is clingy. Capital-C Clingy. When she wants attention, she makes it known, and she’s not taking no for an answer. But she’ll also fiercely love and protect her person in return. Once Becky bonds with you, she’s all in. She’s calm while being handled, even while eating, and doesn’t flinch at fireworks if she’s near someone she trusts.Energy-wise, Becky Rose is somewhere in the middle: she loves her zoomies, dramatic couch dives, and sprinting toy tosses—but she also knows how to settle. She’s famous for her weird couch maneuver where she backs her rear legs onto the seat and leaves her front paws on the ground, sitting like a total weirdo (and we love her for it).She gets along with other dogs and seems to enjoy their company—she gets sad when she can’t play. Cats? She’s seen them, didn’t care. Adults? Here’s where she needs a confident, experienced handler. Becky’s not afraid to tell you if she doesn’t vibe with someone. She’s barked, lunged, and even nipped when she felt unsure or threatened. This girl needs a home that understands dog behavior and will advocate for her. She’s not a dog-park dog or a meet-all-your-friends-right-away kind of companion. She needs structure, trust, and slow intros.Becky Rose would thrive in a home with space—both indoors and out—for her zoomies and wild toy tosses. A dog door is ideal. Block off your kitchen unless you want her helping herself to dinner. She’s not scared of stairs, and she’s surprisingly gentle during quiet moments. She just wants to be with her person, wherever that is.If you’re looking for a dog with big personality, big brains, big loyalty, and an even bigger heart—and you’ve got the experience and patience to help her feel safe—Becky Rose might just be your girl. She’s not for everyone, but for the right person, she’ll be everything.========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match! Story
LOCATION: Pittsburgh, PADOB: 08/26/2022Meet Hercules, a stunning Great Dane with a heart full of charm and a personality that fills the whole room. This big, lovable guy is the definition of a gentle giant — affectionate, loyal, and happiest when he’s right next to his favorite person. He’s completely housebroken, crate-trained, and loves nothing more than curling up close for a good snuggle after a day of play.Herc is a dog who knows what he wants — attention, belly rubs, and more rubs after that! He’s an affectionate goofball who leans on you (literally) for love and will gently nudge his way into your space just to remind you he’s there. He has a funny way of rubbing against you like a cat and will even try to curl up beside you like one, despite his impressive size. He’s a total ladies’ man and wins over every woman he meets with his sweet, loving nature. Men take a little more time to earn his trust, but once they do, Herc’s loyalty is unwavering. He’s protective in a comforting way — once you’re “his person,” he’ll make sure you always feel safe.Herc has a confident, dominant streak, so he’s looking for a home where he can be the only dog or the top dog in the house. He enjoys calm walks on familiar routes, playing fetch with his favorite tennis ball, and a spirited game of tug-of-war with his rope. He has a moderate energy level — enough enthusiasm for playtime, but he’s also great at settling down when it’s time to relax. A backyard is plenty for him to get the exercise and sunshine he loves. This big boy is expressive and talkative, especially when he’s excited or unsure. He’ll bark to let you know how he’s feeling, but it all comes from a place of protectiveness and wanting to understand what’s going on around him. Once he feels safe, his goofy, affectionate self shines through. He loves his routine, enjoys a good walk, and might even try to steal your spot on the couch when it’s movie time.Because of his protective nature and strong personality, Herc needs a home without children and with an adopter who has experience with large breeds. He’ll thrive in a calm, low-traffic environment where he can relax and feel secure. His ideal person will have the confidence to handle a big dog and the patience to give him the structure and love he deserves. At the end of the day, Hercules is a giant lovebug who just wants to be close to his person, soak up affection, and enjoy the simple things in life — sunshine, snuggles, and a good tennis ball. Once he trusts you, he’s yours forever — a loyal, loving companion who will fill your home with warmth and a lot of personality.========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match! Story
LOCATION: Oak Grove, KYDOB: 01/07/2023Meet Big Boy, a tan and white Great Dane–Great Pyrenees mix whose soft heart and quiet spirit make him truly unforgettable. After spending more than a year in a shelter, he arrived thin, scared, and unsure of the world, but even then it was clear there was something special behind those sad eyes. With time, patience, and the safety of foster care, he’s slowly learned that life can be gentle — and that people can be, too.Big Boy can be reserved when first meeting new people, especially men, but once he feels safe, he shows his goofy, affectionate side. He forms deep bonds with the people he trusts and becomes a loyal, loving companion who enjoys cuddles, gentle attention, and simply being close. A calm, low-traffic household is where he thrives best. Loud noises, sudden movements, and busy environments overwhelm him, so he’s looking for a peaceful home where he can truly relax. This sweet boy is fully housetrained, crate trained, and rides well in the car. He’s an easygoing walker who enjoys slow strolls and quiet time in the yard, but at heart, he’s a couch potato who prefers comfort over adventure. He currently lives with dogs and cats and gets along wonderfully with them. He’s also lived with children and done well, but he would feel most comfortable with older kids or teens who understand his need for space and calm. Because he’s still learning to trust and can panic when scared, he will need a securely fenced yard and a family committed to keeping him safe.Big Boy is especially comfortable with women, and he would do best in a home where they are the primary caretakers or where any men present are patient, dog-savvy, and willing to give him the steady companionship he needs to build confidence. He relaxes more easily when he has another dog around, and he would love a friendly canine companion to show him the ropes. He has made tremendous progress with the help of anxiety medication, and once he feels secure, his sweetness shines. Despite having some hip dysplasia, he moves comfortably and enjoys his outings. He has also been treated for Lyme disease and ehrlichiosis, and those health issues have been resolved.Big Boy has come so far, and he’s ready for a family who sees not just where he’s been, but where he’s going. With patience, kindness, and a quiet place to land, this resilient, gentle boy will blossom into the devoted companion he’s always wanted to be. If you’ve got room on your couch — and in your heart — he’s ready to meet you.========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match! Story
LOCATION: Murfreesboro, TNDOB: 02/01/2024Meet Halo, a stunning blue merle Great Dane with a joyful personality and a gift for making everyone feel like her new best friend. She’s outgoing, playful, and full of that infectious young-dog energy that makes every day a little brighter. Tug-of-war is her absolute favorite game—she takes it very seriously—and she loves a good round of zoomies in the yard. After she’s had her fun, Halo is more than happy to settle in for a nap curled up right beside you.Halo was recently diagnosed with a distal humerus fracture that caused some tendon misalignment, but you’d never know it from the way she plays. Her veterinary team says no further treatment is needed, and she’s using her leg exactly as she should. As she grows older, she may develop some arthritis, and a high-quality large-breed diet with a joint supplement will help keep her comfortable for years to come. She’s a huge fan of her people and prefers not to be left alone for long stretches. In her kennel she settles well and patiently waits for her person to return. Halo is fully housetrained, crate-trained, and quick to learn—she picked up “sit” and “wait” in no time and loves showing off her manners.Halo enjoys car rides so much that she sometimes tries to hop into any open car door she sees. She’s smart, silly, and always ready for an adventure. She gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes and especially loves playful companions who can keep up with her. She’s also been great with kids, from toddlers to teens, and greets new adults like old friends. Her leash manners are still developing, mostly because she gets excited when she sees other people and dogs, but she walks beautifully in quieter settings. She’s athletic, can clear a baby gate without much effort, and would be happiest with a fenced yard where she can stretch out those long legs.Halo would thrive in a home with another friendly dog and a family that enjoys both activity and downtime. She loves to play hard and cuddle even harder, and she’ll happily take over your couch if you let her. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, and delightfully goofy Great Dane to add to your family, Halo is ready to steal your sofa—and your heart.========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match!
