Story
This story truly tugs at our heartstrings . Sweet Rocky was adopted from the Greenville shelter, but his journey has been anything but smooth. His previous owner claimed he was too big and soon after, Rocky was found abandoned in a local dumping ground . Instead of returning him to the shelter, they left him to fend for himself. Tragically, he was attacked by other abandoned dogs. Thankfully, a kind-hearted Samaritan saw him and took him to the shelter. Rocky was in terrible shape, all beaten up and scared. Before a rescue could be arranged, his previous owners adopted him again, unsure if they would keep him. Sadly, they returned him once more because their fence wasn’t secure and they kept him outside. Rocky had only a few hours left before being scheduled for euthanasia when our rescue found a foster for him. She adored him, but due to a family emergency, she can no longer care for him. Rocky is just 1.5 years old and weighs about 90 lbs. He is nearly perfect! He gets along well with  children, and other dogs. He is gentle, sweet, and craves affection. His foster mentioned that whenever she coughed, Rocky would come running to check on her. He doesn’t like being alone but doesn’t destroy anything. He’s a true velcro dog, always wanting to be close to his humans. Rocky can’t wait to find his forever home or be loved by a foster until he meets his forever family! Let’s help Rocky find the loving home he deserves!  people! Applications to foster or adopt are at codysfriendsrescue.org Breed: Anatolian Shepherd/Mixed Breed Color: White and Brown Size: Large Heartworm: Negative Good With Dogs? Yes Good With Cats? Yes Good With Children? Yes Comments: Rocky has once again returned to us, just as sweet! He deserves a loving forever home. He is perfect with every animal except for chickens. ##2162079##

Story
Whitney is a beautiful designer dane who is a love bug. She has had some training and is house crate and leash trained. She has lived with several dogs of all sizes, horses and adult humans. She is respectful of the baby gate and loves to sunbathe with the other dogs. Whitney is very sweet and well mannered.. her mom was a dane and dad a great Pyrenees/ schnauzer mix. A true southern bell she hates the cold! Because Whitney has no idea of her size we are looking for a home without children and other medium/large dogs. Story
Amos McCoy, an old name for an old man (think of the 1950`s/60`s TV program `The Real McCoys). Amos is the oldest dog we have inGDRNT care, not in longevity, but in age, he has been in GDRNT for over a year, but he is 11 years old. This guy came to GDRNT suffering from bad ear infections and some skin funk… we have been battling this with him and our veterinarian. He was sent to a specialist, who tested him and the results showed that he was allergic to most everything in the environment... And so he was started on allergy shots and different antibotics, but his ear infections did not get any better. Finally the Speciality Vet came up with an antibotic solution that was packed down in the ear canal. Took two rounds of packing the ears, and we started seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. As he started feeling better from the ear infections, we noticed that he was having trouble getting up after laying down, and we started him on some shots for his arthritis (the boy is almost bouncing now some times). There was also a suggestion that we change his kibble... which we have settled on a single protein (Salmon), gluten free, GMO free, low glycemic, no corn, soy, or wheat kibble. And he is doing SO-O-O much better. His ear infections are down to just some yeast, which we are dealing with with a high dose of probiotics. Like we said at the start of this, he is estimated to be 11 years old, which means that he came to GDRNT, potty trained, crate trained, with house manners, and pet friendly. And while he loves a nap, he does well with kids, big dogs, small dogs, and cats! Amos is available for adoption in the Dallas/Ft.Worth Metroplex. Story
Hi there! I`m an adorable, 86-pound furball who absolutely loves food and people. When I first got to my foster home, I was a bit skeptical of people and sudden moves freaked me out. But now, I`ve learned that most people are pretty cool and just want me to love on them. I`m sweet as can be, and I adore petting—don`t stop or I`ll annoy you to no end! I`ve also mastered the `go lay down` command and I`m pretty good about following it.I`m a big fan of going on walks, though there are a few things I`m not too keen on. Fast-moving objects like runners, bikers, and motorcycles make me nervous, so watch out! And if we encounter another dog on our walk, you`ll see me getting a bit anxious.I`m okay with my crate, especially if you entice me with a treat. I might whine a bit, but once you leave, I`ll settle down. Just remember, the crate is for when you`re gone—otherwise, I`m happy to be out and about. My foster mom doesn`t let me sleep on the bed, and while I understand, I`ve been known to sneak onto the couch when she`s not looking (shh, don`t tell her!).There are a couple of things I really don`t like: the vacuum and the lawnmower. I think they`re out to get me.But overall, I`m a loving and loyal companion who`s always ready for some affection and a good walk (as long as we avoid those fast-moving and four-legged things)!Abby is available for adoption in the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex. Story
Say hello to my little friend… Annika. A 4 year old fun loving sweet girl with the energy of a younger pup. Before she came into Rescue, she was dumped in a rural area just outside of DFW. Annika loves long walks on the beach (if you have one, but just in the neighborhood works well for her too), though that activity has had be be curtailed just a bit as she was heartworm positive, and has undergone treatment at one of our veterinarians. She loves loves loves her crate, and when told to “crate up”, it is, “Oh Boy, Oh Boy I can get in the crate!!!”. In fact when she first came to the foster home, she spent more than 90% of her time in the crate, door open, just her choice of places. She still chooses to spend time in the crate, but she is living life with the foster family more and more.Annika is VERY food motivated! And more than willing to eat her share, your share, their share… And if you have anything in your hand, in her mind, it must be a treat for her. Her manners are still those of a 1year old, not the 4 year old she is, and her foster family is working with her. With the right family, she will learn to be an even better behaved girl.Annika is available for adoption in the Dallas/FortWorth Metroplex. Story
2 Great Dane Pups Available Sky & Angel are two & a half mos old. They'll be available for adoption in 2 weeks. Applications are being accepted for pre-adoption. These black beauties are Great Danes. They're the result of irresponsible pet owners who failed to have their pets spayed & neutered. Pictures of their mama dog & daddy dog are available upon request. The girls play very well together but would benefit from being adopted to separate homes, especially with an older doggie companion to learn from! Sky is bigger than her sister, but they'll both be very large when full grown as Great Danes are an XL breed. The girls are learning commands & potty training is going well. They're getting familiar with wearing halters & leash walking. Antlers & beef bones are favorite chews as they're teething. They've had their first puppy shots & been dewormed. Soon they'll be going for car rides & working on socialization. Sky is a lovebug who enjoys soft sweet words & kisses. Angel can be more adventurous & she really enjoys her rope toys. They both love love classical music during nap time & during the night! They sleep ALL NIGHT from 8:30pm until 6am! 😇😇 Dane puppies aren't fully mature until they reach 2 years of age. True to their breed, they are sensitive, loyal companions who want to be with their family at all times. We're looking for experienced dog owners who are ready to provide loving forever homes! Please reach out with any questions. Furever Home Pet Rescue bemyforeverhome.org 615-540-8448
