He does have the run of the yard where he does his zoomies though.                                  PERSONALITY: Xander is extremely lovable and gentle even if he forgets his size sometimes. He rarely barks except when frightened or when people/dogs pass by when he’s in the yard. Xander is smart but lacks some discipline. He needs training to be a good walker. He pulls at first but quickly settles down. Will try to dart after rabbits and squirrels. Knows to sit for food and gives his paw. Not good at coming when called except in a confined area, like our yard. He is good with children and most people. Doesn’t trust men in hats or beards. Developed a tendency to growl at strange dogs after returning from the Rover Pet Sitting. Xander has a good-natured personality and loves being cuddled, and hugged and returns the same. He has a stubborn streak when he needs to be locked in and will occasionally try to run if he isn’t tempted with a treat.  FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: WALKING and exploring. Car rides. When going for a ride he will be the first one in the vehicle. He is very good in a car. Coordination isn’t his thing and he’s no retriever. He does like to play catch me if you can with a ball, toy, or stick. Snuggling and just chilling with people. His most UN-favorite thing is being alone. He whines and whimpers. Not excessively. Again – rarely barks.  MEDICAL ISSUES: None. He was neutered a month ago and has healed well. He is up to date on all his shots and was tested for heartworm when he was neutered which was negative. All medical records will be provided. WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME: A home that can provide him with the attention he deserves. He craves affection and returns the same. He needs to be walked and have room to move around. Ideally, he needs to be included and surrounded by family members. I believe he would do well sharing his home with another dog or possibly cat and children.   Application Fees, Adoption Donations and Rescue Policy: Please know that 100% of our fees and donations pay for the costs of rescuing dogs. These include but are not limited to pull fees from shelters, veterinary examinations, vaccinations, medications and care, microchips, neuter/spay surgeries, heartworm treatments, behavior evaluations, and foster care, as needed. Important notes before applying. Adopters must have their primary residence in one of the following states: Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and parts of North Carolina. We will not adopt giant breed dogs to renters. Homes with children under 6 years of age will not be approved for adoption. Homes with children should have a fenced yard. Pets currently in the applicant's home must have a history of appropriate veterinary care. Homes with intact dogs will not be approved for adoption.  Proof of any of the following exceptions is required: The intact dog is a working member of a law enforcement, or search and rescue/recovery team. The intact dog is registered under the auspices of the American Kennel Club and is actively being shown. A veterinarian has determined the sterilization procedure would harm the intact dog.  We believe in Force Free Training Methods and do not approve of methods or devices using pain or force to control the dog, or to deter undesirable behavior.  Homes with highly varnished steps must have carpeting, securely fixed stair treads, or a non-skid surface. **We encourage you to remediate potential safety issues while your application is under review, prior to the home visit. Story
Hi, my name is Pearl! I’m 13 weeks old and weigh about 20 lbs.  I was abandoned and found in an alley in Bexley.  I’ve learned to be scrappy, no one’s going to take advantage of me! I’ll tell you what I like and don’t like, so if meek and mild is what you’re looking for, I may not be the girl for you. I am strong willed, but eager to learn. I am not a big snuggler and would much rather spend my time playing! I need a yard and a dog friend to play with or you better be ready to play, play, play!!! I’m currently in my velociraptor stage, so put on some gloves and let’s throw down! I sleep 8 hours in my crate and will go in my crate when you leave. I’m working on potty training!  I’m very food motivated and I'm learning things quickly.  As rough as I like to play, I take my treats very gently!! Though I’d love to share my life, I do not like to share my food. I like to eat separately. Food is my prized possession! I’m vocal about telling you what I like and don’t like, so apartment living is not for me. If you have older kids and teens who’d play, that would be ideal.  I think toddlers are cool to jump on and be mouthy with, so giving me one of my own might be problematic. If you’re looking for a fun loving girl, who knows what she wants, then I am the girl for you! Let’s meet!! My adoption fee is $400 and includes my spay, boosters and flea/tick/heartworm preventatives up to the point of adoption. ##2197938##

Story
What an adorable little firecracker !! FULL of personality and afraid of nothing! She is confident, curious, LOVES the water and her baby pool. Often times she's the only one willing to get in. LAMAREY lives to be with other dogs and especially adores her humans. She is literally always happy! You cannot rain on her parade! She is kennel trained and almost house trained! She is a joy to have as part of our foster family. LAMAREY is with me in my home in Memphis, Tn. Once adopted , she will travel via Rescue Vet Transport to her new forever family. Once an application has been submitted and approved , I would be happy to speak with you and tell you all of the wonderful things about her ! You will find our volunteer team to be very responsive so please refrain from submitting an application until you are ready to welcome a new forever family member. Transport runs each weekend, leaving Memphis Tennessee Friday morning around 6 AM at which time they start a group chat with the two drivers and all the adopters who have a A Pet on board. Transport is an additional $185.

Story
ABOUT ME... Hi, my name is Bella! I am a young, petite Great Dane mix. I was given up by my previous family, along with a small female dog, because they were struggling with personal issues. I also lived with a male dog my size. My favorite thing ever is to be petted and snuggle with you on the couch or bed. I like to play with plush toys and enjoy stuffed Kong toys. I am very gentle with all my toys; I do not like to pull the stuffing out and make a big mess. I also love to give my humans kisses and nudge at them when they think it's time to stop petting me! I am a sweet, sensitive girl who listens well if you tell me to leave something alone. My foster mom is a dog trainer, so I've had some basic training and she'll share with you how to continue with all the things I've learned! I AM GREAT WITH... I'm house trained, I know Sit, Down, and Watch Me. I will lay on my blanket and settle there if you reinforce me with some treats. My foster Mom said I was doing great coming when I am called, for some reason my listening ears are not working when she calls me, but I will work on getting them fixed. I take the treats out of your hand very gently, it's the polite thing to do. I'm good at playing with large, playful male dogs. I like men and women if they go slow with me and give me a chance to warm up to them. I get excited to go for car rides and I get right in the car. I AM STILL WORKING ON... I'm learning to walk on a loose leash. I come to your left side if you say Here. I have not wanted to be in a crate in my foster home, but I did sleep in one in my previous home. I love being with people sooo much, I am struggling with when they leave me. I am working to gain confidence in staying home alone. Right now, I don't have any other doggy friends, and I think a sweet, timid playful doggy companion would make me really comfortable! I AM NOT GOOD WITH... Small children make me nervous, especially when they scream. I'm not sure what I think about cats. I REQUIRE... --A fenced-in backyard. Not only do I love to be in the backyard and sniff wildlife trails, but I also like to lay in the grass and sunbathe. --A home with no children under 10 and someone home most of the time. **All animals in our care are spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (age 1 & up), given preventatives, and provided with initial vaccinations AT MINIMUM. Booster shots are included in the adoption fee and will be performed at our clinic, or the adopter can use their own vet at their expense. Adopters must reside within 2 hours of Columbus, OH. No transportation assistance is available.**
