Story
Rouge is a little over 2 years old and still very much a puppy, she is incredibly loving, funny and playful. Unfortunately we already had 3 small breed older dogs and cats , she wants nothing more than to be a part of the fact but I think due to her size and energy the other dogs just are not having . I have put a lot of thought and tears into this decision, my husband has since passed and with my job she is crated 8 to 10 hours a day. I truly believe she would thrive in a home with another dog that matches her size and energy or as a only pet. Either way whoever adopts her will be the true winner in this because she is absolutely amazing she's very smart , funny and fiercely loyal and protective of her people.

Story
Meet Whiskey, a 16 m/o pure breed Great Dane. He is a goofy & spunky young boy that just wants all your attention! This loveable giant is all bark and no bite, he is afraid of his own shadow but will try and crawl onto your lap to cuddle. Our main problem is Whiskey is too friendly with cats. Not realizing his size, he likes to play rough with our two cats that do not appreciate his energetic manners. Whiskey does have a sister that is the alpha dog of the house so another dog for him to follow would be preferable. Whiskey is great with kids, ours are 8 y/o + but he has knocked over small children before so we recommend older kids who understand that he is not a horse to ride. Previous large breed experience & a fenced-in back yard is required, Great Danes are not for the faint of heart! It takes a special person to understand their needs. We have had him since he was a puppy and he is well-trained! XXL crate included and rehoming fee is negotiable, we just want the best for him!

Story
Looking for my new home. My name is Lucy, and I am a big friendly giant, the type of lap dog you could ever find. When you walk in the door I will be waiting so I can get up close and give you a big hug and give lots of kisses, all so you can pet me too of course. Hard floors are not my favorite, so I prefer to be a big couch potatoe but I’ll take a blanket on the floor if you insist. Birthdays- I love to celebrate, I’ll even wear a birthday hat if it means I get a yummy birthday surprise. I know a few tricks as they call them: sit, lay down, come here… I tend to get really antsy and excited waiting for the treat though, it’s something I have been working on. For now ai do lots of dancing with my front paws waiting for the treat I earned. Sometimes I am told I’m naughty. I’ll make a ‘naughty’ list like Santa Paws does: 🚽When the toilet seat is left open I get excited for the water, so I drink it all up. 🍗I have discovered some of the best food is always on the kitchen counters and I like to ‘counter surf,’ water ever that is. 🗑️I’m not really sure why the humans like to call the bags in the kitchen garbage. The things I find because I make sure to look through all of it, but I get in trouble because they have to get another bag and pick it all up again. Now the bags are in a container and I can’t check them anymore. 🙀Cats - what are they? I always freeze stiff like a statue so maybe they can’t see me. I do follow them with my eyes though, but I will not move another muscle. I may not be perfect, but I promise to love you as long as you let me, and I can’t wait to the best skritchens. Birthday: November 24, 2020 Favorite food: Diamond Naturals Skin and Coat Favorite Snack: anything chicken ‘Tricks’: sit, lay down, stay, come Friends: other dogs, not a fan of chihuahuas, I tap dance thinking I’ll step on them Friend or Foe: the best of friends not aggressive

Story
Papi is a 6-month-old large breed puppy with striking white fur and beautiful grey spots, along with his gorgeous grey eyes that will melt your heart. While we’re not exactly sure of his breed—he may have some Great Dane or American Bulldog in him—what we do know for sure is that he’s an absolute gem. When Papi first arrived with us, he was a little shy and unsure of the world. But it didn’t take long for him to come out of his shell, and now he’s the sweetest, most loving boy around. Papi absolutely adores people and gets along with everyone he meets! He’s made huge progress in his foster home, learning to walk confidently on a leash (something he was once scared of) and becoming crate trained. While his potty training is still a work in progress, he’s doing great with minimal accidents. Papi currently lives in a Foster Home with two other dogs and cats, and he's absolutely thriving in a social environment. He has a best friend here at the shelter named Arnold, and the two of them love to run and play together. Papi has a great sense of humor, and his playful antics always keep everyone entertained. Whether it's chasing after his toys, rolling around in the grass, or practicing his "puppy zoomies," he’s always up for fun! When it comes to training, Papi responds well to positive reinforcement, and a simple whistle is a great way to redirect him when needed. He’s very receptive to guidance and is eager to please. At night, Papi is a dream—he sleeps soundly on the couch with no accidents and doesn’t get into anything he’s not supposed to. His calm, well-mannered nature makes him easy to live with, and he enjoys winding down after a day of play. Papi is also fantastic with cats, showing nothing but gentleness and curiosity. He loves car rides and is an excellent travel companion, behaving wonderfully on the road. If you’re looking for a well-rounded, handsome, and affectionate large pup to add to your family, Papi might just be the perfect fit! Ready to meet this lovable boy? Fill out an application for Papi today! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like to meet Papi, please submit an application for him on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. Since he is a large breed puppy it is best to delay his neuter until he is closer to his full size. This will help ensure proper bone structure and joint development. More details on this can be discussed during the meet and greet. Papi does have a vet appoint on Monday the 23rd of this month to receive his microchip, vaccinations, and heartworm test. He has been on monthly flea and tick prevention. His adoption fee is $300, which helps cover the cost of the medical care he has and will receive. **Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.
