Story
We had 2 Great Danes Mac & Louie we rescued in 2016 that were brothers one died due to hip problems so we bought Cain, he was very expensive but we didn't want to leave Mac alone, then Mac died same problem. So we got 2 golden retrievers for Cain to play with, both males, He gets along with them, they play but at times he gets to rough with them, which I feel he needs a bunch of one on one attention. I am having health problems and cannot care for all of them, when I go to play with them they fight over me and about knock me down. I am not able to care for a bigger dog anymore. They stay in a fenced in yard and come in during the time we are home in the evening if weather is bad. he is fine staying out while you are not home but needs a warm environment at night. We have cats he does fine and grandkids. (although he likes to jump) He must have a fenced in yard and a warm environment at night, or I will not let him go.

Story
RCHS does not conduct DNA tests on dogs who enter our facility therefore we are unable to guarantee breed or breed mix. Information provided by shelter staff, volunteers, and veterinarians is used to give a best estimate as to a dog’s breed make up. We do our best to inform adopters about the potential breeds for each dog.We are a dog only facility so we do not know how most of our dogs will be with cats. Even if a dog is surrendered to us and said to be good with cats there is no way to be sure the dog will be good with your cats. We do have a 7 day foster-to-adopt program so that you can see how the dog interacts with your cats before adoption.

Story
Mandy is 10 years and 10 months old. Mandy was brought to the shelter after her owner passed away. Mandy has been spayed and is up to date on her vaccines. Mandy has had the small growth removed from her eye. She is said to be housebroken and crate-trained. Mandy is good with women and other dogs. She knows sit. Mandy currently weighs 91 pounds. FOSTER REPORT: Mandy is just an awesome girl. She loves her walks, the snow makes her frisky, she goes out in the yard makes her round then comes running up the steps to greet me. She is a couch potato. Loves to be loved, friendly with everyone, sweet personality. She will lay by my foot and play like she is going to bite it. Mandy is a happy girl when she gets to take a car ride, she knows her place in the back seat, rides along like a person. She will wait patiently if I need to pick up a quick item from the store. She is house broke for sure. If you see her seeking you out it is potty time. I have not had to use the crate so I'm not sure if she is crate-trained. When I've had to leave and tell her to stay, when I come home she is waiting and happy to see me, all is just as I left it. Oh, one thing don't leave the trash available for her to rummage through, lol. She does shed so if you mind sweeping often and brushing your church coat before you go out the door then Mandy is not the girl for you. I love her dearly!!! Can you tell??? For a senior girl she still has lots of spunk and lots to offer someone who needs and would love a quiet, kind and gentle companion.

Story
Penny is a little pup who has had a tough go of it lately. This young pup is looking to turn their luck around. Despite this, Penny remains cheerful and friendly, even with new faces! She is your typical young dog. She loves exploring the world with her mouth and nose, and would benefit from lots of outlets for the natural desire to explore. Little Penny is food motivated and ready to learn, making them an excellent prospect for positive reinforcement training. Penny needs guidance and compassion while they figure out how to exist in the world. If you have other pets we recommend bringing them in for a meet and greet to ensure a smooth transition into your home. If you're interested in meeting her, head to our website, fairfieldcountydogs.com and fill out an application. One of our staff will then reach out to you to schedule an appointment.
