Meet Asher a two year old 62 pound dane/lab mix. Asher's story will tug at your heartstrings. A deserving adopter will be fortunate to be Asher's person! Here's what his southern foster says: "Asher is an amazing boy who overcame great odds after being found wandering the streets with severely infected wounds on his face and legs caused by being shot. He healed amazingly and loves everybody he meets. Asher enjoys all the toys that were bought by people while he was recovering and he loves exploring in the yard. His favorite thing though is greeting new people and being loved on. This boy would be perfect for any family. Let's start making those summer memories that will last a lifetime by adopting Asher today." Asher is healthy and has a slight deformation on his mouth due to reconstruction from the buckshot wound. He is house and crate trained and does well walking on a leash. Asher has medium energy level and would benefit from daily walks and active play in an enclosed area. He plays gently with other dogs. Asher has such a sweet personality and temperament and would be perfect in a home where he will get lots of love and attention.

Bubba is a beautiful young lBubba is a beautiful young dog with a beautiful ginger, brown and white coat. He is well-behaved and loving, super smart and highly trainable. He has a very regal appearance, and also a silly puppy side.. Due to his owners death, he and his buddy Billy found themselves in a dangerous kill shelter. They have both been pulled from that shelter and are currently in a foster home.. Foster is a very temporary place, because pets are not allowed in the building. Mattie is an older dog, 11 years old and about 65 lbs. She has been in the same home since she was 6 months old. She was adopted from Connecticut. Her breed is unknown but thought to be a mix of Great Dane and Sighthound. Her current home has become busy with three children and two working parents and the family just does not have the time for her. Mattie does have stomach issues and may just need help with her diet trying different foods might work. Mattie has anxiety, would do best in a home as an only dog or pet and no children. She is not socialized with other dogs, has not played much so does not know how to interact. Mattie has nipped when stepped on trying to get around her; Mattie needs an experienced and knowledgeable owner who can give her a great life for her remaining years.

Blaine is a dapper 4(ish) year old Great Dane who came into our care after he was abandoned. He was found tied up in Philadelphia, so tight he couldn’t even sit. Tired, hungry, thirsty and scared, Blaine waited for hours until a Good Samaritan came and picked him up. He was transported an hour to Blue Pearl and then we were called. Blaine has been in our care for 2.5 months and since his arrival has gained much needed weight and the wounds on his legs have finally healed enough. He has done well with a few female dogs he has met who are medium/large in size but doesn’t understand his own size sometimes. He would do better in a home without young children as he has boundaries that need to be respected. Blaine would thrive in a home with adults who have XL breed experience since he thinks he’s a lap dog and wants to be as close as possible. Blaine is a sweet boy who has been dealt a bad hand in the first half of his life, so it’s up to us to share him and find him the home he deserves! ***Courtesy Posting *** Adopt Nala Nala is a just shy of a year old (DOB 7/12/23), intact, female, Great Dane that loves attention from her people and playing with toys. Nala is beloved by her family, however she had a few incidents in her home relating to her resource guarding that concerned her family (future detail will be provided to approved applicants). Her family jumped right into action and sought professional guidance. Nala has responded positively to behavior modification for resourcing guarding of food and possibly toys. She has also made progress in feeling better about people coming into her home through positive associations and respecting her space. Nala is working on furthering her basic skills of sit, down, place, and leash walking. She is very food motivated. Nala loves toys and playing fetch and tug. Nala doesn't mind spending solo time in her fenced yard or large stand up kennel. Nala is seeking a home without children. She requires an adopter that has an adult only home, some experience with large guardian breeds or is willing to learn, and willing to continue her training at her pace. Nala is not a good fit for a city or apartment environment as she needs some space from new people as she continues to learn that new people are friends (town houses with private entrance/exit should be ok). A fenced yard is not required, but please be specific in the application on how you plan to exercise Nala physically and mentally. She will require time to meet any dog walkers, sitters, or boarders on her terms. Nala is welcome to board with Beyond if needed in the future, if her adopter is local, or Beyond can assist in finding qualified professionals near her future adopter. Nala is working on basket muzzle conditioning. Nala has done very well with counter conditioning (positive association) training for people coming near her food and toys and will accept trades for a treat for her toys. She has also worked on counter conditioning and rewards for alternate, incompatible behaviors when seeing people or dogs walking past her house (pairing a treat with the visual of people/dogs passing and rewarding for coming away from windows). Nala is likely still leash reactive to dogs on walks, but her family will continue to work on her training until an adopter is found. Nala's future person should plan on continuing her training either with Beyond if local or Beyond can offer referrals for nearby trainers employing similar techniques as Beyond (Nala should work with a positive reinforcement or 'LIMA' trainer. She is a sensitive dog and will not respond well to heavy handed training. She does though have a prong collar included in her current training for leash walking (not reactivity) and basic cues). Nala has had limited interactions with other dogs and did not seem interested or accepting of the dog she was around in an on leash test done by her family in the past. Further dog to dog evaluation can be conducted, however it is unlikely that she will be able to assimilate into a home with other animals without extensive training guidance and may not be able to. It is recommended that she be adopted to a home where she is the only pet or safe rotation practices are used with all pets' needs in the home still being met. *Nala has no known medical conditions and will require a spay contract. Timing of spay will be determined after a conversation with her future adopter and veterinary guidance. located near Newton, NJ.
