Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Choco is a handsome boy who is looking for a new home. Choco is with a partner shelter in NC. He can come to NJ if we find a foster to save his life! Choco is described as a big goof! He is friendly and sweet and a little "derpy." Choco is learning to walk on a leash and sometimes will stand up which is only alarming due to his size and strength. He needs a little work on his leash skills. Choco adores people and always wants to be near you. He likes to be touching when he is out with the shelter staff. Choco has tested well with other dogs too. Choco is fixed,   microchipped and up to date on rabies, DHPP and Bordetella vaccines. He tested positive for heartworm so sweet Choco needs a foster to save his life! Heartworm treatment includes 30 days of antibiotics plus two visits to see Dr. Behan at Barnegat Animal Clinic then 30 days of "light duty," no running, jumping or vigorous play. His adoption fee will be $450 if we can save him.   How to Adopt Me! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Online Adoption Application This beautiful girl is about 2.5 years old.  She is a little timid but also very loving.  She seems great with other dogs, gentle with people, about 125 lbs.  She was rescued from the shelter and given up because she could no longer be cared for. She is already spayed and we are working on getting her cherry eyes repaired.  She likes outside and loves just laying in a grass or on a comfy dog bed.  She seems to bond to people quickly. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2024, 10:44 pm

Meet Titan! He is a 12 month old great mix who was adopted from us when he was three month old and was returned to us last month due to his size. He is a little smaller then a full size Great Dane, but he is a mix. He is super playful and is leash trained, house trained and has some basic training skill. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and is dewormed. He has been tossed around and is hoping to find a home and stay forever! He is so very sweet and loves to give kisses! He hopes you apply!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fill out an Adoption Application **Courtesy post located in Bel Air, MD** AleXander the Great is a wonderful boy in search of a family to call his own... a family that can show him time, love, and the attention he deserves.   HISTORY: Xander, to no fault of his own, has had to jump around a bit due to his family's financial difficulties.  When times were good he lived with his human mom, two other great danes and a chocolate lab with plenty of room to run around.  His best friend was his 7-year-old human brother.  He also spent some time with a Rover Pet-Sitter but ultimately funds ran out and is currently living in the basement of the home where he isn’t allowed upstairs. He does have the run of the yard where he does his zoomies though.                                  PERSONALITY: Xander is extremely lovable and gentle even if he forgets his size sometimes. He rarely barks except when frightened or when people/dogs pass by when he’s in the yard. Xander is smart but lacks some discipline. He needs training to be a good walker. He pulls at first but quickly settles down. Will try to dart after rabbits and squirrels. Knows to sit for food and gives his paw. Not good at coming when called except in a confined area, like our yard. He is good with children and most people. Doesn’t trust men in hats or beards. Developed a tendency to growl at strange dogs after returning from the Rover Pet Sitting. Xander has a good-natured personality and loves being cuddled, and hugged and returns the same. He has a stubborn streak when he needs to be locked in and will occasionally try to run if he isn’t tempted with a treat.  FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: WALKING and exploring. Car rides. When going for a ride he will be the first one in the vehicle. He is very good in a car. Coordination isn’t his thing and he’s no retriever. He does like to play catch me if you can with a ball, toy, or stick. Snuggling and just chilling with people. His most UN-favorite thing is being alone. He whines and whimpers. Not excessively. Again – rarely barks.  MEDICAL ISSUES: None. He was neutered a month ago and has healed well. He is up to date on all his shots and was tested for heartworm when he was neutered which was negative. All medical records will be provided. WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME: A home that can provide him with the attention he deserves. He craves affection and returns the same. He needs to be walked and have room to move around. Ideally, he needs to be included and surrounded by family members. I believe he would do well sharing his home with another dog or possibly cat and children.   Application Fees, Adoption Donations and Rescue Policy: Please know that 100% of our fees and donations pay for the costs of rescuing dogs. These include but are not limited to pull fees from shelters, veterinary examinations, vaccinations, medications and care, microchips, neuter/spay surgeries, heartworm treatments, behavior evaluations, and foster care, as needed. Important notes before applying. Adopters must have their primary residence in one of the following states: Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and parts of North Carolina. We will not adopt giant breed dogs to renters. Homes with children under 6 years of age will not be approved for adoption. Homes with children should have a fenced yard. Pets currently in the applicant's home must have a history of appropriate veterinary care. Homes with intact dogs will not be approved for adoption.  Proof of any of the following exceptions is required: The intact dog is a working member of a law enforcement, or search and rescue/recovery team. The intact dog is registered under the auspices of the American Kennel Club and is actively being shown. A veterinarian has determined the sterilization procedure would harm the intact dog.  We believe in Force Free Training Methods and do not approve of methods or devices using pain or force to control the dog, or to deter undesirable behavior.  Homes with highly varnished steps must have carpeting, securely fixed stair treads, or a non-skid surface. **We encourage you to remediate potential safety issues while your application is under review, prior to the home visit. For additional information please review our FAQs or contact mastiffstomutts@gmail.com **Mastiffs To Mutts Rescue reserves the right to approve or deny any adoption that occurs through this organization without disclosure.  We reserve the right to make exceptions for special circumstances. **PA Kennel License: 05845Click here to watch a video of Xander *Courtesy Post*.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.   November 3, 2024, 10:55 pm

Story
BRIMSTONE - 14 months, 102lbs, Great Dane, Neutered  This dog is joining Social Tees on 10/05 and is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program starting that day. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Level of dog ownership experience needed: EXPERT: This dog will need loads of structure and daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation –  The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Energy level MEDIUM: Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Potty trained? Probably! Adults usually are, but all will have transitional accidents for the first week or so. A consistent walking route and schedule plus finding spots with grass or dirt can help.  Social with other dogs? Yes, but we don’t know to what degree yet. Some like to wrestle with every passing pup, others can coexist well but prefer to keep to themselves. We’ll learn more soon.  Social with cats? Not sure yet! Some breed mixes that are generally NOT great matches for homes with cats include large hounds, huskies, and shepherds.  Comfortable with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision) We’re not sure yet, but we try to err on the side of caution. Respectful kids ages 8 and up are probably a safe bet. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age respectfully.   Okay in the city? We don’t know yet. Most adult dogs do well in the city after they’ve had time to adjust to a new environment, but some never adapt and need homes in the burbs.   Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake  How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee or St. Thomas. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes.
