SHe is a young dog, about 2 years old we think. She had a litter in the shelter, all puppies have since been adopted and now its her time for her home. She had an emergency spay as she developed pyometra when the puppies were only 5 weeks old. She is a great dog, up to date on all shots, and ready for her family and she has done her job already being a great mom. She is very smart and listens. She loves hanging out in the back yard, sunning herself in the grass and following her people around. URGENT: Foster or Foster-to-Adopt Needed for Kaya Kaya is about 4 years old, around 105lbs, a gentle giant who is incredibly sweet, calm, and loving. She was rescued from the NYCACC last summer, after being being found as a stray. She’s mellow and cuddly at home and playful and athletic outside. She loves people, is great with dogs, and has been wonderful with kids. She is super interested in squirrels outside but is trained on a halti; no guarding or behavioral issues. She is not yet spayed, but will be, in our care! Her owner loves her deeply and has done everything right for her, but a sudden family situation (a young child with asthma and dog allergies moving in) means he urgently needs help placing her. He does NOT want her going back to the shelter. Kaya deserves a soft landing - whether that’s a foster or foster-to-adopt home. No inquiries, please, without an application. Gus is a 3-year-old Great Dane with the gentlest soul. Until very recently, his world was a dirt-floor basement in a rough urban area, living in truly deplorable conditions. No warmth. No comfort. No chance to just be a dog. We were able to get him out just before the snowstorm, but now he urgently needs what every dog deserves — a warm, quiet place to rest, recover, and finally exhale. Despite everything he’s endured, Gus is incredibly sweet, well-mannered, and affectionate. He is very thin and lacking muscle, clearly from a long period without proper nutrition or exercise, but he is food-motivated, eager to please, and so grateful for kindness. Gus did live with cats and other dogs previously, but right now we believe he would thrive best in a home where he can decompress on his own, at his own pace. He needs time to feel safe, to build strength, and to learn what a normal, loved life looks like. Kaya is an exceptionally easy-going and sweet ~4 year old dog without any behavioral issues. She is a Great Dane and Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. While she is technically a "large" mix (she is ~100lbs), she tends to be low energy and settled at home (her Great Dane side) and very athletic in dog parks (her Rhodesian side). Kaya sleeps and naps about 18 hours every day, but knows how to turn up the dog-park in a split second and become the life of the party. Kaya is very people and dog oriented and loves affection. She would be appropriate for a family. I adopted Kaya from the ACC in NYC last summer. She did not spend much time in the shelter (just 5 days) because she was categorized, behaviorally, as Level 1 - this is the best level as far as behavior. Kaya would be an appropriate dog for a first-time owner. Unfortunately, I was not able to spay Kaya yet because we live in a walkup apartment with steep stairs. Kaya has no health issues. Her teeth are very bright and coat shiny.

Baloo was surrendered by his previous owner. Baloo knows sit and shake and walks perfectly on a leash. He deserves a loving home. A foster to adopt program is available to an approved home if you are willing to give Baloo a chance at a happy home with you! We are working to save as many dogs from southern shelters and place them into loving homes. These shelters are high kill shelters and these dogs are urgently in need of an adopter to save their lives. These are good dogs that had crappy owners who dumped them or just turned them out and the dogs were picked up as stray and taken to the county shelters, left unclaimed. The county shelters fill up quickly and they euthanize (kill) simply because they run out of space for dogs to be. We offer adoptions for any dog we post. We can provide videos, pictures, answer as many questions as we can on the dog for you, etc. We can even do video chat with the dogs (these must be scheduled) if time allows. If you want to adopt but are unsure of a dog because you haven’t met him or her….we offer a adoption foster period program. This is where you adopt the dog and agree to a certain time period trial – usually 2-4 weeks (depending on when transport is running from here to there) to let the dog decompress in a normal home setting and settle in and make sure it’s a good fit for you and the dog. If it isn’t a good fit, we can pick the dog back up when our transport returns to your location but you have to agree to keep the dog safe during the time he/she is with you until we are able to pick the dog up. The adoption fee is non-refundable BUT if the dog is not a good fit for you or you’re not a good fit for it and it’s returned, we do allow you to pick another dog to adopt and transfer the fee to that dog (we will only do this one time), this is not a rotation puppy game. We have been doing rescue for many years (the Director has been doing this for over 30 years). We are pretty good at matching a dog to a person, family, etc. Be honest with us at what you are looking for, what matters to you and what will work best for you and we will be honest with you if you’re interested in a dog that’s not going to work for you. Our adoption fees include all up to date vetting (vaccines, spay/neuter, microchip, and any other medical needed by the dog while in the ownership of the rescue). It will also include the transportation to your area (not to your house, you might have to drive a little to pickup the dog depending on where transport stops to meet up with people).
