Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi there! My name is Hercules, and I’m a 3 year old Great Dane. I’m on the smaller side on the Dane scale, but definitely still 100lbs of love and energy.  A few things about me, I love to run and play with toys, I’m very loyal, I’m ok with sleeping all day or I’m happy to help you around the house with all your tasks. I love to be involved and part of the party. If you’re doing things that I can’t help with, I’m very content in my massive kennel where I sprawl out and chew a bone, or cuddle up in a ball and nap. Some things that are important to know before meeting me is my foster mom is adamant I go to someone or a family that understands large breeds, how to keep me safe, and most importantly how to read my body language. Per the Great Dane breed I’m a bit judgmental at first and prefer to meet new people out of my kennel, with my handler near, and I like to be the one that decides if I want to come to you and when. Once I feel calm and get a good wif of your vibes, then I’ll let you know you’re cool by letting you pet my back and booty. Deep down I’m a big cuddly lap dog that loves to lean into yah to relax but sometimes getting to that takes me a little time. I’m hopeful that whoever adopts me will give me plenty of time to bond with them directly before I start meeting a lot of new people and pups. Speaking of fellow pups, I tend to do well with most other dogs, but like everything introductions should be slower and controlled. I was intact till just a bit ago so between my size and manly posture and lingering testosterone still flowing through my body it tends to be other dogs that don’t like me first and then I choose based on their reaction to not really care for them. My foster mom runs a dog boarding business out of our home so I do get a ton of exposer every day to new dogs and random people from time to time and she is happy to help anyone that is interested in adopting me move forward with training, behavioral & posture explanations so you will know all my cues and can take over as my person so I can live a long healthy life with you going forward. I know my bio blip is a little longer than just Im a cute cuddly puppy, but I promise you that I’m a gosh darn good pup that’s really looking to settle in to their forever home and love on someone everyday. And just a reminder if my pictures don’t do justice - I’m extremely Handsome and 10/10 puppy eyes  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Please go to our website www.wagsmn.org and fill out an Adoption Application.  Once the application is processed, a Wags representative will contact you, answer any questions you may have, and set up a time/location for a meet and greet!  A home visit is required prior to adoption.  Thank you for choosing to adopt! Breed and temperament determination:  Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue attempts to determine breed and temperament using a combination of looks, information provided to us at intake, and our experience with the animal while in our Rescue.  We do not guarantee this determination. Story
Introducing Luna! Sweetheart Adaptable Courageous Affectionate  Luna is one half of an extraordinary pair of Great Danes who embody courage, kindness, and boundless love. Luna and her brother, Ares, are ready to embark on a new chapter of their lives with you. This lovely lady is a stunning, white Great Dane who exhibits grace and charm that's simply unmatched. Her world is painted in shades of love and determination due to overcoming vision impairments with remarkable finesse due to her hearing and smelling She has proven that strength lies not in what we see, but in the unwavering spirit within. With every step, she demonstrates her determination to explore life to the fullest. Her bond with her brother is something truly special. They continue to find support from each other as they navigate their world safely. Their connection is a testament to the power of love and companionship, and they must be adopted together to ensure that they continue to thrive. They both love to be around their people and soak up the attention. While they aren't that into playing with toys, they do love going for walks and car rides! These two gentle giants can be the perfect addition to your family and can do well in a household with cats and older children. Due to their special needs, a home where they will be the only dogs is necessary. Both dogs are housebroken, crate-trained, and walk well on a leash. Their foster family has also noted they do well during car rides. A physical fence and minimal steps are required due to them having difficulty with hearing and vision. Neither dog has any medical/health concerns, but Ares occasionally requires an ointment for his eye. Are you ready to open your heart and home to this remarkable pair of siblings? If so, please reach out to us by one of the following steps. 1. If you have already completed the application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Ares & Luna’s Placement Coordinator at callie@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about them. 2. If you are not yet an approved adopter through UMGDR, you must complete our application process before you can be considered to adopt a dog through our rescue. Please visit https://www.thegreatdanerescue.com/adoption-application to complete an application and submit your $25 application fee to begin the process. This awesome duo is currently located in Presque Isle, WI. Since Luna and Ares need to be adopted together, the combined adoption fee is $430.10. ##1579466##

Story
Introducing Maxwell! Energetic Playful Affectionate Extraordinary Appearance: Maxwell is a stunning Great Dane with an elegant white coat. His beauty goes beyond his appearance, as his unique qualities make him an exceptional companion. Activities and Play: Maxwell has an active and adventurous spirit. He enjoys playing with various toys, from balls to ropes and deer antlers. Going for walks and exploring the world are among his favorite pastimes. Maxwell's boundless curiosity and enthusiasm are truly contagious. In the backyard, Maxwell lets loose with his famous "zoomies," showcasing his joyful and playful nature. He relishes companionship and interaction with his people, cherishing every moment of love and attention. Need for Companionship: Maxwell has a strong preference for being in the company of his loved ones. He dislikes being left alone and may bark when separated from his family. A home where someone is present more often than not is ideal for his well-being. Challenges and Adaptability: Maxwell faces significant vision impairment, but his resilience shines through. While he may see only a fraction of what others do, he adapts remarkably well once he's familiar with his environment. He may perceive motion, lightness, darkness, or the presence of objects, allowing him to navigate and enjoy life. Maxwell also has a significant hearing impairment. He may hear certain high-pitched noises, but he relies on his visual senses and the reassurance of his loved ones. His world is shaped by the guidance and support of his human companions. Boundaries: Maxwell appreciates respect for his personal space. He may get nervous when objects, people, or other dogs move quickly, given his limited sight and hearing. A physical fence is required to ensure his safety and security. Ideal Home: Having a submissive, active dog in his forever home can greatly contribute to Maxwell's happiness and confidence. If his adoptive family includes children, we recommend ages 12 and older with a calm demeanor. A calm and consistent home life is essential to his success. Previous Challenges: Maxwell had been bounced from home to home for the first half of his life. He truly deserves a stable and loving forever home. A family with experience in caring for dogs with deafness and vision impairment would be a true blessing for him. Maxwell is not just a dog; he's a testament to adaptability and the joy of living life to the fullest despite challenges. If you have the heart and dedication to provide him with the love and care he needs, please reach out to us. Maxwell is ready to embark on a new journey, and he'd love to share it with you. Please complete one of the following steps to make Maxwell a part of your family. 1. If you have already completed the application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Maxwell’s Placement Coordinator at callie@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about him. 2. Her sensitivity extends to her feet and tail, and loud or stern voices can make her anxious. Thus, a calm home environment where her boundaries can be respected is her ideal sanctuary. In terms of health, she's in excellent shape, with no known issues. She's a picture of vitality, ready to embark on countless adventures with her new family. She's a devoted people-pleaser, and her happiness is linked to the joy she brings her family.  A physical fence is a requirement, as it ensures her safety and provides a secure space for her to explore. Story
Introducing Meeko! Outgoing Playful Loving Alert Appearance: Meeko is a true stunner! This handsome fawn-coated Great Dane has endless affection and an outgoing personality. Sweet Nature: Meeko is not just handsome; he's also incredibly sweet. He can be unsure of new people, but totally falls in love with them when given a chance to observe them first.  His warm and welcoming disposition to those he loves makes him an instant favorite. Training and Health: He's healthy, up to date on vaccines, neutered, housetrained, and kennel trained. His knowledge of basic commands, such as sit, down, come, and shake, showcases his willingness to learn and please. Areas of Work: Meeko is a vocal boy who barks at anything and everything. This is a habit he'll need some help with, but it's also a testament to his alertness. Due to his vocal nature, a home within city limits or in an apartment complex may not be the ideal fit for him. While he is sweet, Meeko can show a stubborn side. He will push boundaries if he doesn’t have a strong leader. Energy: Meeko has an abundance of energy and a thirst for adventure. He needs plenty of exercise and daily stimulation to keep him happy and healthy. Secure Yard: Meeko has made great strides in responding to recall commands. Even though he has made progress, he will still require a physical fence to ensure his safety while exploring and playing. A fence of at least 6 feet is preferred. Family Compatibility: While there are no children in his current foster home, Meeko has shown affection for kids in his previous home. If children are part of his adoptive family, they must have previous experience with big dogs, as his size and energy level may be a lot for younger or inexperienced kids. Meeko seeks out male companionship and will benefit from a positive male presence in his forever home. A strong and loving bond with a male figure will be meaningful to him. Other Dogs and Cats: Meeko enjoys the company of other dogs but requires slow, supervised introductions. It's recommended that there are no cats in the forever home until he has bonded with his new family and responds consistently to their guidance. Meeko is a bundle of love and energy ready to embrace the world with open arms. If you're an experienced Dane owner and have the time and dedication to help Meeko thrive, please reach out to us. Meeko is eager to find his forever home, where he can embark on endless adventures and share his heart with you. Please complete one of the following steps to make Meeko a part of your family. 1. If you have already completed the application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Meeko’s Placement Coordinator at callie@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about him. 2.
