Story
Good golly miss Gracie! What a battle it’s been to get her healthy and to this point, but we are so honored and excited to finally offer her for adoption to the perfect home! Gracie is a 5-year-old Great Dane. She was surrendered, heavily pregnant, to a shelter in New Mexico. Shortly after delivering a huge litter of pups, Gracie went septic. She was rushed to the vet for an emergency spay, wherein they found she had retained a couple of deceased puppies. She was gravely ill and the shelter decided it was best to separate her and her pups. Sadly, they all passed away. About a month later, Gracie was recovered and set out on her journey to Colorado. About an hour or two after she left the shelter, she began to bleed profusely from her lady parts. She was taken immediately to the closest emergency room wherein they found a stich from her spay had come undone – causing her to nearly bleed to death. So, Gracie headed back to the shelter for a few more weeks until she was fully recovered. Then, she set out to come to CO and this time, SHE MADE IT! Since Gracie really wasn’t feeling her best self during her stay in NM, we were so excited to see what an absolute joy she is! Gracie is dog friendly and would LOVE a canine companion that likes to play. She’s down for some serious naptimes, too, don’t get me wrong. Your girl is not hyper-active, by any means. She’s a lap dog (yes, don’t argue with me), loves her crate, and is extremely sensitive to correction so she needs a very gentle home. She’s a couch surfer, bed sleeper, and takes walks daily of around 2-3 miles. Gracie is treat-motivated, loves belly rubs, and really is just looking for her forever family. If this 103 lbs, black beauty, is just what you’ve been missing, please, get your apps in. She’s waited long enough for you to find her! Gracie is in foster in Mead, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/gracie/. You can apply for our wonderful dogs at https://www.milehighcanine.org/adopt/adoption-application/.

Story
For more information about this Dane, please visit our website at https://rmgreatdane.org. Adoption Applications link can be found on the home page. Hi – they call me Bubas.  I spent 4 months in a shelter.  They named me Bubas. I checked out of the vet with a clean bill of health, but they recommended some meds for fear and anxiety.  You see, I was found wandering the streets, so I have a very mysterious background – my little secret.  But I can tell you this:  I am scared of a lot of things, especially men and strangers.  Strange Men are the Worst.    I have latched on to Foster Mom and will not leave her side – I don’t growl at Foster Dad anymore, so that’s a bit of progress. I enjoy playing with other dogs and my toys.  I’m good with middle aged to older kids, but the little ones have as much energy as I do and they make me a bit nervous.  Besides, I’m big enough to knock them down when I’m just trying to play with them. I am slowly learning manners and commands and getting better with time.  I’m learning to walk on a harness and leash – regular collars make me alligator roll to get out of them.  I am house trained and crate trained. Here is my idea of the perfect home:  Great Dane Experience, female only household, my people to be home more than not, lots of patience and love, another big dog to pal around with and whom I can learn from,  interest in helping me to learn how to bring out the Awesomeness that is inside of me, and some more love.  Please fill out an application and ask for me.November 6, 2024, 3:48 pm

Story
For more information about this Dane, please visit our website at https://rmgreatdane.org. Adoption Applications link can be found on the home page. Loki was recently saved from a breeder where he lived outdoors and was used as a stud. (We believe Loki may have Mastiff / Dane).  A guardian human angel rescued Loki and brought her into her home where he is temporarily living with 7 special needs dogs.  This amazing person has had Loki neutered and brought up to date on shots.  She has reached out to Rocky Mountain Great Dane Rescue to find a foster or foster-to-adopt home for sweet Loki. Loki has started house training and is staying indoors while he recovers from his neuter.  He a smart and learning new commands.  So far Loki has picked up on “sit” lay”.  Pretty impressive in such a short amount of time!  He is thriving with the attention.  Loki is described as playful, friendly, a clown and still has happy puppy in him.  He has good, moderate energy.  Prior to his surrender, he lived in a home with 4 children where it was reported he got along well with the kiddos. The ideal home for Loki:  A Giant Breed experienced home to show Loki what the Great Dane good life looks like!  Someone who will be patient and continue to work on all aspects of training, including walking on a leash and other day to day “Daning” indoors. Loki is a fast learner and has a wonderful temperament.  We believe in the right home with lots of love, this big boy will thrive! Thank you to Loki’s guardian angel, he is one step closer to living an amazing life – was Loki meant to find you? More about Loki: Neutered Male House Training (In progress) Crate Trained (unknown) Good with dogs Cats unknown Good with children* (*limited information on child ages and day to day interactions) Moderate energy Playful, friendly, clown Needs continued training – fast learner Needs leash training Home must of secure fenced yard Giant Breed experience required If you would like to foster or foster-to-adopt Loki Utah (Black w White Chest), submit your application today! Story
For more information about this Dane, please visit our website at https://rmgreatdane.org. Adoption Applications link can be found on the home page. Special Needs: Giant Breed experience required “Once lonely in Utah – Now Seeking His Forever Home” Hi — my name is Bruno and I’m seeking a loving forever home.  I was once lonely in Utah, found as a stray, wondering the streets and quite malnourished.  Some humans got me off the street but it was all quite scary.  Their resident dog made me feel threatened so I couldn’t stay there.  I was dropped off at a Utah shelter.  This was definitely rough on me.  It was good to be off the streets but I kept hearing humans say “my days were almost up.” Then along came Rocky Mountain Great Dane Rescue, Inc.   An amazing RMGDRI foster family picked me up and brought me home.  They told me I was safe and wanted to help me find the people I was meant to be with. I can come across a bit gruff at first when you meet me.   But that’s not really me.  It’s my defense mechanisms kicking in because of so much uncertainty in my past life.  Once I get to know you  I am super affectionate and a bit of a couch potato.  I also love going on car rides with my humans.  I am happiest when I can catch some rays in lay in the sun.  It sure feels good just lounging like a lazy Dane! As my defenses melt away, my heart just gets bigger. I have some things to work on:  I will jump up on people at times – I’m told this is not OK and I am improving.  I can also react to other people on a leash.  I didn’t have much leash training before finding my foster home and I have definitely learning each day.  Someone new coming to the home can also make me nervous.  A confident human teaching me strangers can be OK and I am still safe will go a long way.  I have mastered my “sits”, improved on accidents in the home and am getting accustomed to crate training.  I think I am what you may call a diamond in the rough.  Once smoothed and polished, I will shine bright and be a faithful and grateful boy for my forever family.  Are you willing to give me a chance? More about Bruno: Neutered and gastropexy* Male (*Gastropexy is an elective surgery that helps prevent bad outcomes from a condition called bloat) Working on crate training; will counter surf if left unattended House trained with occasional accident No cats. Cats unknown – likely prey drive No dogs. Dogs unknown No small children. Children unknown – Recommend 14 years and up given lack of history Needs work on leash skills Loving and affectionate Big cuddler Great Dane experience required given lack of known history of Bruno. Story
For more information about this Dane, please visit our website at https://rmgreatdane.org. Adoption Applications link can be found on the home page. Special Needs:  Daily heart medication ($18 per month) Kevin’s photos say so much about his past.  It is clear this boy has been let down before but we at RMGDRI want to help turn things around and provide the love and medical care Kevin deserves.  We are in need of a special foster family willing to support his recovery.  Because we have limited information on Kevin, the ideal home will have no other dogs or cats.  We will consider older, dog savvy teenagers but given limited history, a home with children is not ideal. Like most shelter surrenders, we have limited information on Kevin.  We know based on a vet examination, he will have significant health needs.  We as a rescue will cover his medical care.  We need a loving foster home that has the ability to take him to doctor appointments as needed and provide whatever medical care is required in the home.  We would like to get him out of the shelter as soon as possible.  Kevin will likely remain on medical hold (foster) status with the rescue due to his health needs. More about Kevin: Intact Male (Will be neutered by RMGDRI when medically cleared) House-trained unknown Create trained unknown No children (We have limited history on Kevin) Friendly to people / visitors No dogs (unknown history, shows some reactivity at shelter) No cats (unknown history, shows some reactivity at shelter) Fenced backyard required (unknown leash skills) Giant Breed Experience required due to history; Experience with medical / hospice needs preferred December 3, 2024, 5:36 pm
